Best burgers ever! Huge and tasty! Very friendly staff. Fresh cooked so it takes a bit longer, but worth the wait.

It's very much run by locals, though. More than one person that I saw working at the hotel and at the local cafe across the street I also saw working here. The steakhouse was very clean and beautiful - brand new. I heard the bar was good. I went there for brunch - my friend and I both enjoyed what we ordered. My pancakes were fantastic - they were supposed to be sourdough and I didn't really get that flavor but they were very good anyway. My eggs were just ok - not really properly scrambled and quite oily. However when we called the night we were getting there to see if the Steakhouse would be open in time for our arrival at 8:30 pm (not too late, right?) we were told multiple times in no uncertain terms that they stopped seating right at 8 and closed at 9. There would be no budging, even though it would have been very likely we would have been some of their only customers of the night. They wouldn't bend. In a tiny town at the end of a very desolate stretch of road in a restaurant located inside of a very fancy hotel I would have expected much better service and a later closing time. But in a tiny town? That's very typical behavior. I also would have hoped they would have been more flexible even just for that weekend because there were many people in town for a wedding. But nope. So this place was really good for the brunch I had there but service leaves something to be desired. It's just a very strange mix when you put an expensive, fancy hotel in the middle of absolute nowhere and probably don't have much of an employee base to choose from. But I applaud Winifred for trying!

We stopped into this…read morespot in Loma, MT completely by chance while visiting the nearby American Prairie preserve, and we were delighted by the whole experience. The atmosphere is pure, authentic Montana--warm, welcoming, and full of local character. For a restaurant in this outback town, Ma's Loma Cafe is punching above its weight. The people were friendly, the coffee fresh and endless, the waiter attentive, and the atmosphere fun and very Montana. As for the food, it was much better than your usual small-town diner fare. The burgers were juicy and cooked perfectly, and the BLTs were loaded and delicious, homemade potato salad like grandma's. The real surprise, though, was their variety of Mexican food. They make all of their own, including salsas on-site, and you can really taste the Mexican flare. If you are traveling through Loma or exploring the American Prairie, do yourself a favor and pull over at Ma's Loma Cafe. Great food, wonderful people, and an inviting local feel.

Someone had recommended this place a couple of months ago that used to live in the area. Their iced tea and ranch were both homemade and they were awesome. I had breakfast there, and it was done to order. Staff were friendly and helpful and lots of things to look at in that place for fun. Also took a gander at the local newspaper, which is always interesting as you traveling through areas.

Parr Creek is a nice bakery right on the main street of Lewistown…read more It's one of those places, though, where you need to arrive early if you want the best selection of goodies. By late morning there won't be much left. By late morning, there were only a few donuts on display. There isn't much room for seating here, so to take advantage of one of these treats, expect to wait or just take it to go. Parr Creek has a small breakfast menu, of the type of things you'd expect from a place like this. No full course meals here, just a wrap, pancakes, muffins, scones and cinnamon or caramel rolls. At least that's what was available on the day I was there. There may be other options during the week. The menu is on a whiteboard and it seems the locals don't need to look at the board at all, they just know what to get. On the other hand, there's a small lunch menu with enough selections to make you feel less guilty about indulging a sweet tooth. Next visit, I might try one of them. The sourdough pancakes were served with a rhubarb/strawberry compote that nicely balanced the pancake and I liked that it didn't have the same high level of sweetness as a syrup -- which is also available if that's your preference. Now, the cinnamon roll was gigantic. It was also very good. The frosting was a buttercream, like you get on a cake, and that gave it a completely different flavor than the usual melted sugar. A little of it goes a long way and I preferred to eat around the sweet and just enjoy the subtle cinnamon taste. If you're exploring the area, then make a point to visit Parr Creek.
