He talks a good game and is very confident but when it comes to actually performing the work, that's where it all goes south. He showed up late to the job because he was "getting supplies" but when he arrived, he had nothing but two shovels (one broken) and a broken tape measure. His "crew" was two teenage boys that he left with limited instructions as he left to go to his storage unit to get more supplies?? I had half of the gravel that was being used, the three arborvitae being planted, purchased the soil, the 2x8's and 2x12's, all he was to supply was the rest of the gravel and the labor. He was charging me $800 for the job - VERBAL CONTRACT! I went out several times to check on the boys and they had grabbed one of our shovels to use since it was in the backyard and his equipment was broken, no problem. I also had a tamper (because we had planned on doing it ourselves) and I explained to them that the gravel needed to be compacted and level. They had no idea, of course not. And where was their boss? When he finally came back, I was still outside with the boys trying to figure out a way to make sure the gravel was level. Isn't that why I hired someone?? He brought barely enough gravel to finish the job. Thank goodness I provided my own! I had been outside for over an hour at that point and was getting frustrated with the whole thing so I asked him where he thought the arborvitae should be planted. CLUELESS! Once again, I make the decision, measure between each tree and the distance from the patio, and mark the spot where each tree will be planted. To add insult to injury I get my checkbook and ask, "how much was it again?" He says, "Uh, $850." I knew full and well we agreed on $800, not that it was worth that! The shed is not sitting on a level gravel pad and I supplied almost everything. I texted him the next day because I was so mad and his response was, "do you expect me to work for nothing?" No, but I don't expect you to be dishonest either. He said he would Venmo me $50 and then he ghosted me. DO NOT do business with this crook!
