One thing that stood out to me was the alcohol situation. They didn't have liquor in the main store, but there was a separate smaller store right next to it just for alcohol. One of the biggest reasons that I go to Aldi's for is that they carry Amoroso's rolls, a staple in Philadelphia and an absolutely fantastic bread. Since discovering that Aldi's carries Amoroso's, I keep this bread in my pantry. One thing I don't like about Aldi's is that they do not have phone lines in their locations. They claim it is to keep costs down, however I think they are just interested in keeping their total costs down. A phone would not affect the bottom line of a location, however when you factor in the multitude of locations it is a huge amount of money that Aldis does not have to lay out.
