Got there early this morning Sunday to miss any crowds go up to the deli after picking up some vegetables and there's a man standing there I say hey this is you waiting on something he said yeah the ham it's 299 a pound so I saw the ham sitting out on the counter by the slicer and the deli lady was slicing Cajun turkey and she sliced maybe a half a pound she turns on puts it on the scale looks at both of us it says and who's got the turkey and I'm like well not me I just walked up she never saw me before and she looks at the guy he's I ordered it to him that's sitting on the counter there you open the brand new one and then he went sliced turkey she was like oh so she took the turkey put it on the counter and slice the ham then she asked me what I wanted I decided not to go with the ham because the 299 it said water and binder added on the package I'm like I don't want that anyhow I got the German bologna I was there for 20 minutes to get a pound of German bologna and then I wanted the Cajun the deets the brand Cajun turkey a pound of that cuz it was $6.99 but she kept trying to give me the store brand at 11.99 since it's right here she finally got it and she goes to slice it I mean 10 minutes later I'm still waiting for it and another lady said something to her and she got really upset so I'm just a stupid ass here the other lady yelled at her about swearing I mean it was a a ridiculous show of incompetence that I ever seen in my life there's four women there the one deli slicer doesn't know what the heck she's doing the other one came up to help and then said well she's got to finish with you and I was like please don't leave me with her I mean then she says to me have you ever just felt like giving up as she's handing me in my package I said no I didn't want to converse with her at all I mean it was a horse of pony show Believe me. And I'm never going to have that happen again cuz I'm never going to that deli counter again is the worst operation I've ever seen in my life, no wonder everyone goes to Publix that pays the extra cuz they're extremely professional neat sanitary clean and everything that wasn't Winn-Dixie today. Next I made sure to take pictures of everything that was buy one get one or on sale cuz every time I go there I get to the car I get home and I get overcharge something or I didn't get a buy one get one same old story well guess what I get up there I buy three packages of romaine lettuce because they're 299 and I took a picture of it of the whole pile of it and the 299 it rang up 5:49 so before I walked away from the registry I said that's wrong that's 299 so she calls the manager over I am assuming I showed her the picture 299 and the whole bin is full of what I got so she goes walking over comes back goes oh that's organic I'm like well the science is 299 I didn't take the wrong stuff they put the wrong stuff there so instead of giving it to me she removed it from from my payment I said fine I go out to the car I look and now I realize that the onions which was buy one get one at 3:49 was buy one get one and it was $4.99 so I go back in to get my dollar she says okay you know I don't know why so I've been back the season and I've been to Publix twice and Winn-Dixie once I've always argued with everybody about going to Winn-Dixie cuz I'm an old Winn-Dixie guy from 1991 when Winn-Dixie was awesome loved them but I'll tell you what I saw today I'm never going back I'll pay the premium at Publix for every reason I've already stated competence number one and I hate when they wear the same gloves to do other chores and then cut my deli meat and cheese with the same gloves it's unsanitary they're touching proves and dirty rags and pulling chicken I don't know change your gloves! Never again never again Winn-Dixie they're done. read more

Go hungry before purchasing anything from this store. The smell of the interior of the store is so sour, after five minutes, I abandoned my cart and left. The deli was absolutely disgusting. They meat slicers were so dirty, and the warm, ready eat selections were so dried out and filmed over, I'm surprised the health department has not shut them down. The staff was Nice, but everything about the store was unsanitary. Prices on average were higher than all the surrounding grocery stores. read more

Don't even think about going to the Pharmacy, a few of the best Pharmacists left and there is no one full time and none of them have any idea of what they are doing. No one answers the phone, they get my prescriptions wrong, they never have enough Sudafed and the wait in line is long. There's a fair amount of angry customers at the counter and I never heard anyone angry before the others left. read more

Not clean, very old and outdated. Staff, all look retired and part time. Management fairly new, self admittedly, I inquired as I have not seen them prior trips to the store. I have actually seen Management working in the Deli, and a constant change of faces in that particular department. Apparently they can't keep good help. I used to frequent there, until I realized how dirty the deli was, I witnessed an inspector visit, and stood in the isle watching the inspector point things out. I was actually served more than one occasion by workers not even wearing gloves, hair nets. etc. The rest of the store is very outdated, and smells. I have taken my shopping experience elsewhere. Whoever is in charge of ordering for the food that's advertised in their flyer should be reassigned. I'm not exaggerating when I say that every time I've purposely shopped at this store for the great deals, they're GONE. Knowing this I've even gone in the morning on the first day advertised and it's not there. I've felt like they just want you on the door and are false advertising. Although this store literally has employees/manager watching you bag your own groceries, and the store is run down and questionable refrigeration, I still like the deals when they're in stock. read more

I've been to a couple of Winn Dixie grocery stores and I have to say their selection on just about everything is pretty poor. Their meat section is probably the worst I've ever seen and their produce is very limited. They do have fast checkers and fairly nice employees but that's about it. Their prices appear to be a little higher than other stores like Publix. With the exception of their good prices for chicken and turkey, I wouldn't go to any Winn Dixie to buy my full grocery list. read more

Worst customer service in the Venice, Fl area. There is a cashier who loves to give people dirty looks, and I avoid her line at all costs. I have given this store chance after chance because I live close by. It never gets any better. Their prices are not exactly cheap either. They really need a week long training session on how to treat customers and friendliness. Whoever does the hiring needs to take up pointers from Publix. Now that's good customer service. So I purchased a jar of organic peanut butter and when I opened it, it had a funny smell and taste. I took it back to the store in hopes to exchange for another jar of peanut butter. I didn't have the receipt and was told I would need the receipt to exchange. Do people save grocery receipts? It turns out the expiration date on the jar of peanut butter was June 2019 and it is now Dec 2019. Winn Dixie has lost my business over a jar of peanut butter because of the principal. It's just okay. Within walking distance. The employees are pretty nice but honestly the prices aren't that good. The other day i bought their ham steak (buy one get one free) for close to $10 and the next day saw a similar ham steak at Publix for $5.29. They also had personal sized watermelons (the tiny ones) for $13.00 a piece or $5.99 with a Winn Dixie card. Really? Who's gonna pay $13 for a tiny watermelon. read more

Enough salt in the chicken to gag you. I give up buying rotisserie chicken at the Venice store. It's so easy to make good tasting food, so why destroy it with so much salt? Tricky pricing is a pain. So if I don't need 5 of one item I have to pay the full price rather then 1/5 th of the advertised price. Hum, customer satisfaction is not high on the priority list here. Oh, and how about the LOUD music so one cannot think. Instead of shopping, see me walking out the door.
