That defeats that purpose of a therapy appointment in my opinion. Okay, I understand the convenience of a phone call appointment. No need to drive into Salinas to for an appointment is nice. However, I studied psychology and counseling in the past. One of my favorite topics is body language. I also personally know the pioneer of body language research, Dr. Albert Mehrabian who lives in Monterey. He is someone I have high respect for. Anyhow, something is to be said about seeing a person face to face in an appointment. It is not just what the person says but how they say it. What clues does the person's body say besides what they are actually saying?!? Surely, a phone call appointment cannot show much evidence of this. Come on, things are getting back to normal and yet, Dr. Marcus, whom I have high respect for as well, does not do in person appointments. That is not good. Since, my phone seems to not do well with phone video conferencing and I prefer to do in person appointments, with a heavy heart, I say good bye to going there.

I was told by the initial appointment maker, as well as the receptionist Vanessa that my appointment was thru video call. So i was told TWICE that it was over video. The time comes for my appointment today and i never receive a call. So, when i call the office asking when I would receive my call, they told me it was in person and that I would have to reschedule for another date since they can't change the "in person" visit to be a video call at the last minute since they needed a full hour. Not sure what's going on with their scheduling but it resulted in horrible miscommunication and a misunderstanding that lead to me waiting more time just to see a psychiatrist. While this was at the fault of their computer system or whoever creates/views the appointment, they were not apologetic at all for this inconvenience and miscommunication. If you have an appointment with them you better make sure like three times atleast how the appointment will be held. I made sure twice and was still given wrong information, and with an attitude as well.

They do not answer the phone. I tried for a month to get ahold of someone to schedule my yearly endoscopy, and the call goes to a full voicemail. You can't leave a message. You don't get a call back. When you do get someone to answer the phone they are miserable. I think the ladies hate their job and definitely should not be working with the public. They are cold, rude and annoyed. I can't imagine someone going through much worse than my health problems having to deal with this lack of compassion, patience and empathy. I transferred my care to Monterey Bay GI Consultants and it was the best decision I have made in a while.

We have alot of history as today, I am going on my 12th year of being Cancer Free. In the very beginning of my treatment, Dr. Shiffman wanted to go outside of the box, get other oncologists opinions, anything that it would take because my prognois was prettty bad...a few months at the most. From the very first appointment he had me...his warmth was genuine and his determination was strong. I could call the office at anytime of the day with questions...he has a fabulous staff and I get an answer pronto from either the Doctor himself or one of his assistants. Dr, Shiffman held my hand during some very difficult times and decisions. While an Oncologists has to have one of the hardest jobs in the field of medicine, he always greets you with warmth and a generous hug and you, and during that visit, however long it takes, he is all yours 110%. Didn't like her approach or what she notated about my wife wanting disability. Her school is the one that suggested it, so we went to ask about it. You tell me how you'd understand her statement, where she left out the context that her school is the one whom suggested her looking into it. Were conservatives, and would like the most natural birth possible, so we don't appreciate the continuous request for blood work or dna test on our baby. It was asked and declined at least four times.
