Southgate isn't the kind of place I recommend visiting in December, but then again I don't…read morerecommend visiting any mall in December (not if you can help it). That being said if I'm gonna go to a traditional indoor shopping mall then Southgate is my top pick. It's mostly a convenience factor (I like Kingsway too, but I live closer to the south side). The mall is older, I think 25 or 30 years old, but they've don't a lot of renovations in the past 5 years so everything looks new and bright. Southgate has a nice amount of stores, not too many, and I can usually find what I'm looking for when I come here. There are some higher end stores like Michael Kors, and the Apple Store (well high end depending on what you by) to your run-of-the-mill Canadian mall standards like The Bay and Sears. There are also a few stores here that are great to go to because for me it means avoiding a trip to WEM or going downtown (I love downtown, but I don't love driving/parking downtown). So yes it's great I can buy my makeup at Sephora here instead of going to WEM or going to Evoolution (delicious artisan olive oils and vinegars) instead of having to go downtown or to St. Albert. One of my favourite things about Southgate is the food court. It's open, and can be a bit loud, but it's got a decent fast food selection from Koryo (Korean) to Opa (Greek). I also love how environmentally friendly Southgate is...they've got bins for recycling, trash, and they even have drains so you can pour out your beverage down the drain instead of dumping it in the trash. There's even a separate spot to put the utensils. The other high point of Southgate, as strange as it might seem are the washrooms by the food court (well the ladies at least, can't speak for the men's). Why? Because the washroom stalls are huge (seriously you could probably get 4 people in there), they have a heavy wooden door, and when the door is locked it goes from a green vacant to a red occupied. I wish all public bathrooms did that, instead of playing the knock-to-check-and-see-if-someone-is-in-the-bathroom-stall game. The bathroom stalls also have a a big purse ledge for you put your purse/bags on. And when you go to use the sinks after you're done there is a automatic paper towel dispenser in front of every sink. No waiting in line to dry your hands. Score. Regarding parking it can get busy here, but I usually find the parking lot is pretty decent, particularly if you go to the upper level there's usually always spots there (maybe not right before Christmas). Southgate is also on the LRT line (right after Century Park) so it's convenient if you take transit. Just know Southgate isn't park and ride, so if you park here and take the lrt you could get a ticket (yeah they check that). One thing that is a little weird about Southgate is the layout. It's a mall that was just designed a bit weird, but it's not a big mall and easy to figure out. It can get busy, but it doesn't have the insane crowds that WEM does. Southgate is definitely my go to mall in Edmonton.

We found what we were seeking and had a lovely shopping trip in general. I find that every time I visit a new-to-me Costco location, I spot some stuff that I either never see at my normal location or that my normal location simply doesn't carry and that is a lovely perk. We were shopping later in the day on a Saturday than we normally do do I can't really tell if this location is any busier than our preferred spot or anything but it was a good trip.

The Hub Mall is such a brilliant invention. There are at least 20 food kiosks in the mall, offering a variety of options - Chinese, Korean, Thai, American fast food, Grandma's comfort food, smoothies and wraps, Japanese and sandwiches. You can get your hair cut here, get new eyeglasses or have a vision test, get a massage, book a trip abroad or exchange, shop for dorm room decor, study, go tanning, do your banking, meet with an accountant or seek therapy. I think you only thing you can't do here is drink, but there are plenty of places within walking distance of The Hub, like Hudson's on Campus and Earl's. The Hub rocks. Every university should follow suit.

It has more to offer than the Students Union Building too, with all the different kinds of cuisines and student services they have. Here's a list of what you can do here: -your stinking laundry (cause your momma ain't around) -get your shoes repaired -your banking -book a vacation (if the previous option was positive) -grab some breakfast, lunch, or late night snack (and get fat on Cookies by George) -buy a last minute birthday card -buy a new pair of eyeglasses -cram for that exam you've been in denial about -get a cheap haircut (but see my review for the Hot Razor before you really do) It's a really convenient place, whether you're a student or just passing through. It can get crazy busy around afternoon hours though, with high traffic on both sides of the long corridor. Do not, I repeat DO NOT stop in the middle of the traffic, as you will have a bunch of angry students with heavy textbooks piled up behind you. Simply move to the side, and do not look back until safe to do so. Also, it gets crazy hot in the summer because they have crappy air circulation. In fact, I don't believe they have AC ... so it gets pretty stuffy. That's when the frozen yogurt and ice cream they sell come in handy!

My most recent visit to Winners in Leduc was scenario A (want to buy everything). Winners is a discount store (so they say) that has deals on a wide variety of products from clothes to cosmetics to accessories to home decor to candy to toys. I've been to several Winners before and sometimes the deals are really awesome, but other times the Winners price isn't that great of a deal. It kind of depends on what you're looking for, and on the original retail price of the item your looking at. I just say this because it's easy to look and go "omg 50% off" and want to buy everything, but not everything is that great of a deal. That being said I do generally like Winners. I don't usually find much in the clothing department, just because their plus size selection is limited to one rack, but I always like browsing the accessories and the purses and handbags at Winners. The have some random brands I don't recognize, but then ones I do like Guess. On my last visit, I found a nice, basic gray over the shoulder purse that is perfect for traveling, and it was only $25, which seems like a great deal to me. I also really like browsing the home department section at Winners because they have cool home decor stuff, but it isn't just double decker bus figures and Buddha statues, there's more practical home stuff. Case in point the 6 pack fo wooden hangers for pants that I got. Winners can be quite busy, particularly on weekends or after holidays, but Leduc's Winners is nice. It's a decent size (not quite as big as some of the ones in Edmonton) and it's always clean and well organized. The staff are pretty friendly, and even when being the 15th person in line for the checkout counter it doesn't take too long to check out. I don't always shop at Winners, but I generally like it when I do.

This…read morelocation offers the normal things that you would expect to find in a Winners such as hair products, mens, ladies, and childrens fashion, home decor, etc. but I find that the selection of products is just not as good as other stores that I visit. The selection of products and especially sizes of clothing is consistently limited and picked over at the Leduc store. This store does have a clearance section, but I find that it is usually filled with broken items that are not really discounted at all. My recommendation would be to go to one of the Winners locations in Edmonton as the selection in these stores tends to be better.

Yesterday, unusual lineups for the checkout. Only 2 gals on cash. Cash or debit only. No refunds, returns or exchanges! Check your stuff out before you leave. Some flashlights have no flash. ;-) dead batteries don't help light the table at a birthday party.

It's a double level Winners with beauty and accessories on the main floor, then clothing, shoes and housewares upstairs. It's a bit smaller that your regular Winners, so I do notice that it holds less stock, but there are fabulous red tag deals that continue to be discounted. And tip alert! There is a public washroom available on the second level, like all the other Winners. It's imperative to know where are the free washroom spots are available on the Ave.

I'm here once a week for an appointment in the buildings office areas. But... the cleanliness is -100/10. The place is disgusting. The bathrooms are as if a bomb went off. The woman's washrooms pad bins are always over flowing with used nasty stinky pads. The toilets have poop and pee all over them. I don't feel safe using the washroom. The food court is okay.

I'm not making a review about kingsway mall in general. i'm making a review about a store called…read moredesigner depot because during my christmas shopping i noticed a few red flags as well as green flags. 1. i overheard certain staff members talking very rudely about other staff members. 2. i was not aware of multiple policies due to no one explaining it to me so when i went back to exchange an item i was not able to do so considering non of the employees were telling customers about them. 3. the cashier with dark hair and glasses was EXTREMELY sweet and very professional considering how young she looked. 4. i was greeted by a very sweet young man who was making sure the store was safe from homeless people due to an incident. Yes there were a few red flags but majority of my visit to this location was okay. one other thing it is very difficult to identify who is an employee due to the employees not having name tags.
