After seeing favorable reviews on trip advisor, we decided to book a 4 night stay at the Winrose Hotel on Venere.com
First things first: free wifi and made to order hot breakfast. How could we resist? The English breakfast is very good -- the sausages and bacon are baked for a "healthier" version. Their wifi was spotty on our first night but didn't have any problems afterwards.
The room is very basic and needs updating (especially the carpet), but it fits a full size bed with enough space for a table and chair. The bathroom is the size of a closet and when you take a shower, you need to build a "towel dam" to prevent water leakage into the room, so classy and yes, that's how I roll! I feel that the price could've been priced lower for this area (we booked it for £100/night) but Paddington is conveniently located near the Edgware road tube station which is only 3 blocks away. This is especially appealing if you're planning to take the Heathrow Express train coming from the airport.
As for the neighborhood, there are a lot of Halal type restos and hookah places, convenience stores, post office, Boots (pharmacy) and a laundromat are all within a stone's throw away. For a great location (if you don't mind the commute into the city of London) and definitely more affordable price than say Belgravia or Knightsbridge, Winrose hotel fits the bill. But if you're looking for a more charming neighborhood to be in, Notting Hill is your best bet. read more
