I am shocked that Steven Chen has not had a review yet, considering I had heard of him from 4 different friends before visiting his office. He definitely has a great reputation, and I now understand why! :) The office is clean, the receptionist is friendly, and Dr. Chen is a kind, gentle, caring man. He takes his time. I've heard from others that if he can't help you, he will tell you, and not waste your time or money. I went in for neck pain that was waking me up from sleep in the middle of the night. After one treatment I already feel huge relief in my neck, and upper back area. I will go again in a couple of days, and then he said I "might" need a third treatment, but that should do it. So far so good... I am impressed! I've heard that he has clients that drive in from all over the Bay Area, and even clients from Texas that fly in to spend a week, and get their treatments done. First session is $150 (ouch, but better to have a $ ouch than "neck" ouch! ;) And, then all other visits are $75... cash or check only! read more

I was referred by a friend and was a bit hesitant at first but went with an open mind. I went in for my hot flashes. I can honestly say it was the best thing I have done for myself!!! I also had a very positive treatment for pain relief in my lower back and hands. You must be patient, give it time and it will take more then one treatment but it works!! I didn't believe acupuncture until I met Dr. Chen. I messed up my lower back and got herniated disk problem while I was squatting 325 pounds at the gym. The pain went from my lower back down to one of my legs. I could barely walk. But after Dr. Chen did the work on my back, I instantly felt the pain was much reduced and my back got more flexible. Dr. Winson Chen is extraordinary. I am a collegiate athlete and competed in state championships in high school athletics. I was severely injured in my first year of collegiate athletics and was left unable to walk or do any exercise without chronic pain. I am 65 years old. I have been to many different acupuncturists all over the country. Dr. Chen is, without a doubt, the best I've ever been to. His father was also an acupuncturist and he grew up standing side-by-side with his dad learning the trade. I have radiculopathy from pinched nerves from surgery and I am losing the use of my left hand. Since I have been seeing Dr. Chan, it is getting better and better all the time. The conventional medical doctors told me there was nothing that could be done. Not only is he the best at acupuncture, he is also one of most kind, compassionate, caring, and loving people I've ever met. His receptionist, Juliet, is also a wonderful, kind person. I began seeing Dr. Steven Chen 20 yrs ago and am now seeing Dr. Winson Chen. I have seen him grow into the wise and respected doctor that his father was. I sought his help two months ago after being paralyzed on my right side for almost two years. I was unable to move. After seeing Dr. Winson Chen now for two and a half months I am able to stand and use my hand. He has given me hope that I will make a full recovery and I feel it with each visit. I saw the good reviews like other people and decided to try this place. I went here couple weeks ago for a second treatment for my digestive issues. He seemed pretty confident about helping me so I started the treatment. On the second visit, he put in a needle into my shin. While it was going in I felt deep aching pain and I complained. He said that it would be ok and let me stay in that position for 10-15 min. After I left the clinic, I started getting weird aching pain from shin to my toes. That night, I was in excruciating pain and cried myself to sleep. That continued for 3-4 days straight. After that I started feeling pain, tingling and weird sensation to temperature changes. I was scared and consulted a doctor. The doctor said it sounds like a nerve injury and told me to see a specialist if persists longer than 2 weeks. It's been little more than 2 weeks and finally saw a specialist. The nerve specialist said it is nerve injury, trauma due to the acupuncture needle hitting the peronial nerve. The specialist said I should give it few more weeks for the nerve to heal and if doesn't heal, I need to get a nerve conduction test. The scariest part is that I am experiencing weakness in my foot now. I contacted Dr. Chen to confront him and although he did apologize, he said it is not malpractice! Really??? He should have been deeply sorry for what happened. Period. Why did he mention that this is not "malpractice?" Seemed to be only concerned about protecting himself. Although he said he hopes I get better, there wasn't much he offered. This should not happen to anyone! Any skilled acupuncturist should know where to put the needle in! My hopes of healing one part of my body led to another unnecessary injury/pain/suffering. When I think about those nights I cried myself to sleep, I deeply regret coming here over and over. I just feel necessary to get this message out there for anyone considering alternative medicine to weigh the pros and cons before hurrying in to try "new things". I have known Dr. Chen since 1990. At the time I first saw him, I had 3 herniated discs and needed surgery. I could barely walk. in fact at 1 time was hospitalized with paralysis from the waist down. My first visit was incredible; my pain and spasm went away. He knows the body very well. I trust him with my life. I will and have given him the a very, very high recommendation to anyone. He has treated my carpal tunnel; and many other issues. He is the best accupuncturist in the world as far as I am concerned. My husband agrees with that as well. I drive all the way from Alameda. I used Dr. Chen's services a year ago to treat morning sickness. I was skeptical about acupuncture and skeptical that it would work for morning sickness, but I was desperate to get rid of the first trimester nausea. TOTALLY WORTH IT!!! I went once a week for about 4 weeks and the treatments reduced the nausea feeling by about 75-85%. I highly recommend Dr. Chen and his staff. read more

Last year I developed a pinched nerve in my back that utterly debilitated me. I could barely move with pain that often reached a 9. I tried every type of treatment including Chiro, Physical Therapy, heavy duty pain meds and nothing helped. I finally realized that only his treatments were helping me so I focused entirely on seeing him. Over the next couple of months I went from being barely able to walk and in constant pain to the pain being gone and me being able to move freely and start strengthening my core to prevent this from happening again. As that issue abated, I started mentioning other issues I have had including neck pain I have had for years, a painful hip, bursitis in my heel, a sore shoulder, and probably more I have forgotten, and one by one Dr. Chen started minimizing or fully eliminating each one. Now, at 63 years old, and having lived a pretty active life, I feel amazing and the pains I accepted as just part of getting older, are all but gone and I feel great. Dr. Winson Chen in Morgan Hill (408-779-1634) is very knowledgeable and effective in treating many conditions. Personally, I have had relief from Shingles, nerve pain, stress factors (neck, shoulder, back aches), and a trigger thumb, to name a few. All of my health issues have been resolved, and I now go once a month for a 'maintenance treatment'. My husband also has benefited from Dr. Chen's treatment for headaches, trigeminal nerve sensitivity, back pain, sciatica, etc. No medications or surgeries needed for these health issues. I went to Dr Chen for elbow pain. By the time I got to him, I was losing strength in my right hand and had to give up working out with weights and drumming. I came to Dr Chen almost crawling thru the door..With such horrific neck pain..I'm a dental hygienist and am prone to neck issue due to work. I never realized how bad my condition was until I came to Dr. Chen unable to work or even drive because I literally couldn't move my neck..I was in so much pain. He squeeze me in his schedule..first thing I described my pain to him...thinking I slept wrong..story short..He placed PAINLESS needles in my shoulder.. neck..let me relax..came back then adjusted my back and both sides of my neck..I didn't feel a thing.. and I'm extremely sensitive to everything. I have been seeing him these past two months.. Every week..once a week..and feel soo much better after every session. I can feel it working..deep into the muscles with very little pain. Looking back I have had neck pains going on past year or so..thinking it wasn't a big deal.. maybe I sprained something/slept wrong. .until I literally couldn't move, work or drive..i even did some deep tissue sports massage with no relief.. Every time I see him...I want to explain all my aches, pains and symptoms..He is so in tuned with the body..He doesn't need your input..unless asked..He can read your body with his finger tips..just amazing to experience Another thing..When I went to him one morning.. He looks at my eyes..ask me to stick out my tongue..looks at it and says.. I'm eating too much raw vegetables..it's too hard on my digestive system..WOW..I changed my diet to a healthier raw vegetable diet and here I'm doing it all wrong..He went over my diet and I'm feeling better all around..how did he know..by just looking at me..incredible I've never thought to go to an acupuncturist until I was in a crisis..and desperate for help After all treatments..I would just need once a month follow up visits and correct my ergonomics at work. I went to Dr. Chen from a recommendation from Dr. Armen (Chiropractor). Dr. Chen has been practicing for many year and probably seen every problem you can think of. After my first session, there was a huge difference in my back pain (bulging disc). Unfortunately, my injury required surgery because of the severity. My husband had been raving about what a miracle-worker Dr. Chen was, but I had been getting acupuncture in Santa Cruz for about 3 years for low back pain that I have had on and off for the las 20 years. Yesterday, due to weeks of sunup-to-sundown cleaning of a home I had just moved into, I was unable to walk due to the pain.. Dr. Chen was able to see me due to a cancellation the next day, Saturday. He alleviated the pain by half on the first visit, and I was able to remove myself from his table and stand up.
