They did an x-ray to see if it's infected - it's not - and i received NO further help or advice after that. I tried for over a month to schedule a pre-surgery appointment with my doctor. I called repeatedly - they never answer the phone, it's always a bad time for them - and left a whole list of dates that i can be there, dates when the doctor confirmed he is at the office. I asked them to pick an open date and time and assign me an appointment to avoid more phone tag. No go. All i got was another empty call telling me to call them. I called and called. No appointment, just the same message to call them every time. I wrote to my doctor and he confirmed that he has time he can fit me in on some of the dates i offered for an appointment. I called the scheduling line back again and told them that the doc says he can see me on one of these Tuesdays - and still nothing. I decided to leave after being treated rudely and neglectfully by staff on a repeated basis. I was given false information about the costs of my surgery, then ignored when i complained. I complained about the staff being racist, rude and neglectful, and i was ignored. During the pre-surgery interview, the PA was beyond rude and blatantly hateful - she refused to answer ANY of my questions or concerns about the surgery, she would only robotically read off the questionnaire i had just filled out and ask me to repeat my answers. Then she walked out without answering any of my questions. It goes on like that. I requested my medical records and this idiot on the phone was telling me that my ID number can be fake, but somehow a photo cannot??!! What century is that person living in? Meanwhile, the ID number and personal details on your ID are what can be verified. They refused to give their name, then hung up on me. Folks, you have a legal right to your medical records, so long as you pay the fee. Refusal to surrender records is an act of illegal non-compliance. I called the main office to speak to the Client Relations person, Kerry ( i guess, no one spells names there). After 20 minutes of being on hold, i was transferred to an answering machine. I've tried that route before and only received an empty letter that resolved nothing - after about a month - and then no response when i called to talk about that letter. This is their routine.

Dr Cowan has abused his position as the 'only Orthopedic Surgeon in the western Massachusetts'.

For me it's a hike. It's about 1 hour away. But this place by far exceeds Harrington Hospital in Southbridge Ma. Upon entering the building was noticeably very clean for such a busy public place. I couldn't believe my eyes. The staff here is friendly and they made a great team. Upon entering the Children's ER everyone that came in to help out our boy was amazing at listening to what we had to say. They all communicated well. They worked together great as a team. They were much faster than I've ever seen in any ER. They actually had empathy for my child and worked hard to get him comfortable. Each doctor that we saw was right on it. We are on night two of my son being hospitalized and still we are impressed with the care we are getting. I will update here if need be. But where we live in the sturbridge area, Southbridge's Harrington Hospital is Rubbish. Apples and oranges. We're very pleased with Baystate children's hospital so far!! Updating nearly a month later: Still we are so pleased with the service we got. My son had 2 follow-ups with another doctor not on campus of the hospital and the care my son received was fantastic. The doctor explained everything to my husband and didn't leave us with any question.

Dr. Fanti has been my dad's primary care doctor for at least five years and before Dr. Fanti came on to the practice, Dr. Egelhofer was his doctor. They've both been great and so has the entire practice. They are extremely patient with my dad and me, his caretaker, and always get back to us with answers to any questions we have. Dad also appreciates the extra service they have where someone checks in with him via telephone once a month to see how he's doing and then reports to Dr. Fanti. An uninformed patient cannot provide proper consent. Had I known that I would be in excruciating pain for more than a week, unable to move facial muscles, chew properly, ambulate, shower without tears, speak without pain, or sleep a night without waking up in pain, I would not have consented to this surgery. Only after a call to the office a week later did I learn that the scalp is complicated and presents these issues. I was never told to expect to miss days from work, and was assured that there are not a lot of nerves on the scalp and that it would not be painful. Even when the scalp was being pulled and stitched, and I directly asked, "this really feels like it will hurt a lot later, what can I expect?" I was assured that it would not. Be your own advocate. Get another opinion.
