Yesterday, on March 29, 2026, while visiting my wife in her hospital room, I leapt from my chair to prevent (successfully) a table from falling over and caused excruciating pain in that shoulder. My phone call to N.E. Orthopedics today confirmed my suspicion that it was too soon for a follow-up shot, but I was dismayed to hear that their company might not want me to return. Frankly, I was so shocked to learn that information that I merely hung up without seeking an explanation.

Emma immediately proceeded to repeat the office is closed (it was 10 AM on a Tuesday). "You can hang up now." I went to the office today to try to reschedule and was informed I have to CALL to do that. I proceeded to describe my experience from the previous day and suggested maybe they should contact IT or the AI provider because the system obviously is not working properly. My suggestion was met with indifference. And she repeated the only way to reschedule was to call. I was simply trying to reschedule but also help. I hope AI Emma doesn't eventually replace the indifferent human with whom I spoke. The confidence in AI Emma's voice when she said, "you can hang up now" was unprecedented. I am leery of what to expect if I follow through with my referral.

I iced it, my neighbor bandaged it, aleve, ice, aleve, ice, rinse and repeat. After a sleepless night, went to Advanced Orthopedics New England (AONE) Urgent Care in Enfield. Well run office. Busy as the proverbial hive, but organized. Three x-rays (why does spell check prefer x-rated?) later, multiple fractures. Wrapped in gauze, etc...."come back in 9 days". Today was the followup. My mummification gets cut off, three more x-rays. Dr. Berkowitz - Healing well, good bone density, but nothing stupid (my middle name) for 3 months. Which brings us to Nick and Angel. Nick is the cast guy, Angel his affable protege. Nick learned his trade in the Navy. Did an excellent job. One suggestion - PAY THE $30 OOP TO GET GORTEX CLOSEST TO YOUR SKIN!!!!! I can shower again WITH IMPUNITY! Back in 3 weeks for more x-rated x-rays. Can't say enough good things about AONE. 6 - stars

I had 2 MRI's one on my shoulder and one on my neck. Brian ordered MRI on my neck. when I had my follow up appointment with him to go over MRI on my neck he came in the room very cocky and said to me... You need to go back to the orthopedic surgeon you have torn rotor cuff. I said I know. Then he said my neck MRI is normal.. Having 4 mild symptoms going on with my neck and back . Brian never went over any finding on my neck MRI. brain just wanted to push me away and have me go back to orthopedic surgeon office. not happy and will never ever go back to this place . I'll have another doctor go over the finding and direct me where I should go for medical help. not to mention when Brian wanted me to squeeze his hands and i could not he got very upset with me. From the very first phone call to the exam I just had it was a pleasant experience. Dr Campbell was thorough in his exam and clearly outlined my treatment plan. He agreed to see me within days of my injury. I am a registered nurse and highly recommend him! His office is located in Wing Hospital, it's a small hospital but the care is top notch!

The staff goes from awful to even worse…read more I've had problems with my replaced hip hurting more than the hip that's waiting for surgery - 10 months out from surgery! They did an x-ray to see if it's infected - it's not - and i received NO further help or advice after that. I tried for over a month to schedule a pre-surgery appointment with my doctor. I called repeatedly - they never answer the phone, it's always a bad time for them - and left a whole list of dates that i can be there, dates when the doctor confirmed he is at the office. I asked them to pick an open date and time and assign me an appointment to avoid more phone tag. No go. All i got was another empty call telling me to call them. I called and called. No appointment, just the same message to call them every time. I wrote to my doctor and he confirmed that he has time he can fit me in on some of the dates i offered for an appointment. I called the scheduling line back again and told them that the doc says he can see me on one of these Tuesdays - and still nothing. I decided to leave after being treated rudely and neglectfully by staff on a repeated basis. I was given false information about the costs of my surgery, then ignored when i complained. I complained about the staff being racist, rude and neglectful, and i was ignored. During the pre-surgery interview, the PA was beyond rude and blatantly hateful - she refused to answer ANY of my questions or concerns about the surgery, she would only robotically read off the questionnaire i had just filled out and ask me to repeat my answers. Then she walked out without answering any of my questions. It goes on like that. I requested my medical records and this idiot on the phone was telling me that my ID number can be fake, but somehow a photo cannot??!! What century is that person living in? Meanwhile, the ID number and personal details on your ID are what can be verified. They refused to give their name, then hung up on me. Folks, you have a legal right to your medical records, so long as you pay the fee. Refusal to surrender records is an act of illegal non-compliance. I called the main office to speak to the Client Relations person, Kerry ( i guess, no one spells names there). After 20 minutes of being on hold, i was transferred to an answering machine. I've tried that route before and only received an empty letter that resolved nothing - after about a month - and then no response when i called to talk about that letter. This is their routine.

Dr Cowan while rushing me out of his office not only gave a bad diagnosis by using junk MRI's he failed to address several other orthopedic problems I had. Dr Cowan appearance was that of an alcoholic. He looked like hadn't slept in weeks. Appointments are double booked and when I was there several patients left after an hour and 15 minutes wait. Dr Cowan has abused his position as the 'only Orthopedic Surgeon in the western Massachusetts'.

I was greeted with a blunt demeanor and basic questions, as was the person in the next room (the office has thin walls). He did not give adequate time for me to answers or explain. He spent about 10 minutes with me then ordered x-rays (I had sent a CD with x-rays taken a month ago). There is no computer in the exam room to discuss the results, he showed me a picture of an x-ray on his phone. There are charges if you want a copy of the doctors notes, x-rays or to have your records sent back to you, I've never had this at other places. My insurance was charged twice the amount as other orthopedic surgeon appointments costs. I gave 2 stars because he did give a opinion but if I knew what the place was like I would have gone somewhere else.
