Wow, what a wonderful little gem in Winter Park. When you walk up the walkway, you are greeted by wonderful ladies that welcome you in to the Playhouse. you step into the receiving hall area and you are welcome again by a couple of more wonderful ladies that ask you some questions about is this your first time and then they guide and direct you and help you where to go and where everything. in the background, there is a piano playing that when you turn the corner there is a gentleman playing a piano of soft music that puts such joy and sets the stage for the evening. He played the whole time until we entered the Auditorium . we went to the box office I bought our tickets online and then they went on the computer and printed out the tickets for you and guided you to the lounge area to get a drink and snacks. Lots of sitting areas of couches and tables and chair. That have black tablecloths candles, and a little flower arrangement on the tables.. we proceeded over to the little bar area to get a bottle of water and a bag nuts. they also offer wine and beer and small bags of chips and nuts. If you want a drink at intermission, you pay for it then and they will give you a ticket and will have your drinks waiting for you on a side table so you do not have to wait in line again. How lovely is that . They had a nice selection of Wine, beers and cocktails. When the red curtains open and you walk through the hallway to go into the auditorium area, you get to see signed musicals From the past. We were there to see the sounds of the 70s. Wow I was very impressed with the voices. The acting in the orchestra band. I knew every song sang to every song and danced, but not out loud. The owner welcomes everybody and gives a ton of information about the Playhouse the history. What the next musicals coming up what it's about which is really helpfulAnd the wonderful ladies let you know when you can sing out loud and clap and stand up and dance. It was such a fun almost 2 hours. Definitely be back for the next musical and they also have silent auction fundraisers, which the event seems to be pretty amazing. I will be attending if I'm available. go and experience. This amazing little hidden gem in Winter Park. You will definitely be a fan and hooked after one musical.

I visited The Winter Park Playhouse for the first time because I was invited to a show. Location is great, right of the main parking. Parking is a little bit of a challenge but I think that's goes for most things downtown or in Winter Park. The show itself was funny it was parked and looked like others enjoyed themselves. The staff was friendly and helpful. I didn't get to try any food so can't really review that. The overall ambiance first impress of The Winter Park Playhouse theater itself was that I felt it was a outdated. I left that a play theater in Winter Park should have been top notch but the interior seemed old and a little dusty. The actual theater is so small and a little stuffy. The seats are so close. I felt cramped. You could literally feel the air turn on when the show started.

If you like seeing plays, especially musicals, then this beautiful playhouse is just for you. It's located in Winter Park and gives you all the feels with its simple but upscale vibe. When you walk in there's a lobby with a pianist playing and an adorable waiting area showcasing the main road. I will say that it's best to get your tickets in advance. My friend and I showed up just hoping to get in, but we did only because some people failed to show up so they sold us their tickets instead. Before entering the theater there is a little bar/snack area. The woman that worked there did say to have snacks outside the theater since eating in the theater would not be allowed. So if you're hungry, get there early to get your munch on. The theater had a very classic ambiance to it which matched the attendees. The age group was definitely way older than my friend and I in our early 30's, so don't expect young, current titles to be performed. But if you like the theater that's not going to matter very much.

First time visiting here and decided to try it out on opening night. Tickets are half-price opening night and I would recommend buying them ahead of time because they were sold out. The staff there was super friendly and welcoming. They made sure we were still able to get seats. We saw Desperate Measures, a musical western with a cast of 6. They each did such a great job that I kept changing my mind as to who was my favorite. Place is small and intimate, so there are no bad seats. I really enjoyed myself and will definitely go back.

So nice!!!! I drive by this place alllll the time and always wondered what it was like. Well, last Monday night I ventured in there for a night of Long Form Improv. Cash only for tickets. The lobby is gorgeous and comfy. You can hang out in here and grab a drink at the small (but very accommodating) bar. It is cash or credit! The bartender was a sweetheart, she was just so nice and quick! It's a great setting to mix and mingle with other attendees and artists performing, depending on what show you are there to see. The theater is very intimate and it has a small stage but that makes for a great show sometimes. It was perfect for comedy cause you were right there and couldn't miss a thing. I had a great time and really can't wait to see another performance here!

    GREAT SHOWS.... Amazing talent!

Ask the Community - The Winter Park Playhouse

How are the seats right in front of the band A1 and A2? Is it too loud?

It could be too loud from those seats. Also, not best sightline.

Heather Alexander and Roy Alan, the founders, discovered a rare niche: a theatre that doesn't rely on spectacle or technology, but on the timeless power of human talent.

I love how beautiful the stairwell is going up to two. I love how much they have expanded their food and beverage line up over the years. The sound tends to be pretty good, the communication from the theatre is always amazing. They waive fees if you come to the box office to buy your tickets. The seats are comfy and almost every seat has a solid view. The box seats are the exception so be warned. The volunteers are always amazing and they are so nice. It would be cool if they opened a second location that served coffee because that line for espresso beverages is always really long. I love the breadth of show types. There's always something for everyone.

Wednesday, March 18, 2026…read more Front Row, Center Tickets to Ms. Diana Ross' Concert Performance I've been to numerous events at the Dr. Phillips Center but nothing beats having the opportunity to see a legend perform within arms-length to where you're seated. And when that "Icon of Icons" is none other than Ms. Diana Ross...well, nothing else need be said. It was a dream come true to say the least. In my most previous update of the Dr. Phillips Center I indicated meeting with and having my photograph taken with the incredible soprano Sarah Brightman was an entertainment highlight of 2025. 2026 has just begun but I will have to use the superlative "spectacular" once again. As in a spectacular show from start to finish. Diana Ross may be 81 years old!...but she still has the voice and ahem...the moves of a much younger performer. Just think of this, she was performing with the Supremes in the 1960's. I wasn't even born and by the time I was she had 12 number one singles with the OG of girl groups! And she is still working it to this day. Ms. Ross sung a multitude of her hits which kept the crowd, and my sister and I, dancing and singing throughout the evening. However, when she started to belt out Gloria Gaynor's anthem "I Will Survive" that really got the audience out of their seats. An Icon singing and Iconic piece of music is an experience second to none. Ms. Ross, you and your mark on music history is unmatched...blessings to you and your family!

I wouldn't recommend section C - they had those tall metal chairs that look uncomfortable in that section. I honestly wish I'd got section A, but those shows sell out so quickly that it seems harder to snag those. The sound was amazing & the band was really talented. The look/vibe is really great too! The doors don't open till right before showtime, but there's covered tables & chairs to sit & wait. Parking was a bit tight. The doormen were very fast & efficient. Everyone was friendly too! Overall I really like The Abbey & am going back again in a few weeks, Oh - pro tip - there's an absolutely OUTSTANDING sushi restaurant around the corner & they were very accommodating when we said we were in a hurry to get to the show on time.
