Here with my Red Hat Society Ladies to see Wreck the Halls, a Christmas themed play. I didn't know there was a theater here so I'm pleasantly surprised. It's a short walk from several restaurants and bars so you can park in one of the large parking lots. I loved the sitting area in the lobby. Intimate seating behind large picture windows. There is a concession stand with wine available. As a matter of fact, you can pre-order a drink to pick up at intermission. So cool. I attended a production of "Shout! The Mod Musical" at the Winter Park Playhouse on Sunday, April 16, 2023. The musical which is set in London between the early 1960's and 1970 follows the lives of five women ranging in age from their 20's to early 40's and features songs from that era. Their struggles, including their relationships, are highlighted through iconic tunes such as "Don't Sleep in the Subway", "These Boots are Made for Walkin", "To Sir, With Love", "Downtown" and many more. As with other productions I've attended, the acting and singing were first rate. The Winter Park Playhouse is truly a gem for the Central Florida community...Broadway level entertainment at non-Broadway prices. read more

A hidden gem!!! It's a smaller old time theater. The foyer entrance has a bar, pianist, sofas, chairs and cocktail tables. I love the ambience as you wait for the show to begin. The staff is super friendly and personally greets you! The theater is nice, small and intimate. For the price of the ticket, it's shocking that musicals are done with a live band (piano, drum, sax, guitar). The actors are also very talented and the production is well done. Impressive!! Wow, what a wonderful little gem in Winter Park. When you walk up the walkway, you are greeted by wonderful ladies that welcome you in to the Playhouse. you step into the receiving hall area and you are welcome again by a couple of more wonderful ladies that ask you some questions about is this your first time and then they guide and direct you and help you where to go and where everything. in the background, there is a piano playing that when you turn the corner there is a gentleman playing a piano of soft music that puts such joy and sets the stage for the evening. He played the whole time until we entered the Auditorium . we went to the box office I bought our tickets online and then they went on the computer and printed out the tickets for you and guided you to the lounge area to get a drink and snacks. Lots of sitting areas of couches and tables and chair. That have black tablecloths candles, and a little flower arrangement on the tables.. we proceeded over to the little bar area to get a bottle of water and a bag nuts. they also offer wine and beer and small bags of chips and nuts. If you want a drink at intermission, you pay for it then and they will give you a ticket and will have your drinks waiting for you on a side table so you do not have to wait in line again. How lovely is that . They had a nice selection of Wine,beers and cocktails. When the red curtains open and you walk through the hallway to go into the auditorium area, you get to see signed musicals From the past. We were there to see the sounds of the 70s. Wow I was very impressed with the voices. The acting in the orchestra band. I knew every song sang to every song and danced, but not out loud. The owner welcomes everybody and gives a ton of information about the Playhouse the history. What the next musicals coming up what it's about which is really helpfulAnd the wonderful ladies let you know when you can sing out loud and clap and stand up and dance. It was such a fun almost 2 hours. Definitely be back for the next musical and they also have silent auction fundraisers, which the event seems to be pretty amazing. I will be attending if I'm available. go and experience. This amazing little hidden gem in Winter Park. You will definitely be a fan and hooked after one musical. read more

I visited The Winter Park Playhouse for the first time because I was invited to a show. Location is great, right of the main parking. Parking is a little bit of a challenge but I think that's goes for most things downtown or in Winter Park. The show itself was funny it was parked and looked like others enjoyed themselves. The staff was friendly and helpful. I didn't get to try any food so can't really review that. The overall ambiance first impress of The Winter Park Playhouse theater itself was that I felt it was a outdated. I left that a play theater in Winter Park should have been top notch but the interior seemed old and a little dusty. The actual theater is so small and a little stuffy. The seats are so close. I felt cramped. You could literally feel the air turn on when the show started. read more

Greatest theatre in Orlando We've been going for 20 years and love it every time. Recommend it highly

If you like seeing plays, especially musicals, then this beautiful playhouse is just for you. It's located in Winter Park and gives you all the feels with its simple but upscale vibe. When you walk in there's a lobby with a pianist playing and an adorable waiting area showcasing the main road. I will say that it's best to get your tickets in advance. My friend and I showed up just hoping to get in, but we did only because some people failed to show up so they sold us their tickets instead. Before entering the theater there is a little bar/snack area. The woman that worked there did say to have snacks outside the theater since eating in the theater would not be allowed. So if you're hungry, get there early to get your munch on. The theater had a very classic ambiance to it which matched the attendees. The age group was definitely way older than my friend and I in our early 30's, so don't expect young, current titles to be performed. But if you like the theater that's not going to matter very much. read more

First time visiting here and decided to try it out on opening night. Tickets are half-price opening night and I would recommend buying them ahead of time because they were sold out. The staff there was super friendly and welcoming. They made sure we were still able to get seats. We saw Desperate Measures, a musical western with a cast of 6. They each did such a great job that I kept changing my mind as to who was my favorite. Place is small and intimate, so there are no bad seats. So nice!!!! I drive by this place alllll the time and always wondered what it was like. Well, last Monday night I ventured in there for a night of Long Form Improv. Cash only for tickets. The lobby is gorgeous and comfy. You can hang out in here and grab a drink at the small (but very accommodating) bar. It is cash or credit! The bartender was a sweetheart, she was just so nice and quick! It's a great setting to mix and mingle with other attendees and artists performing, depending on what show you are there to see. The theater is very intimate and it has a small stage but that makes for a great show sometimes. It was perfect for comedy cause you were right there and couldn't miss a thing. There aren't many small professional theaters left, so it's great to see this one thriving. The shows are very professional, with live music and talented performers, and since there are only a few rows, there are no bad seats. It's particularly nice that there is a comfortable lounge and bar with piano music for hanging out before the show, and the founders are always there to greet guests and make sure everyone has a nice time. Definitely one of the best theatrical experiences in Central Florida. read more

We've been to several performances here and have enjoyed them all. This is not an amateur community theater (and don't get me wrong I'm a big fan of those as well). I just want you to know that it is an Equity professional musical theater so you will always find talented casts of people who make their livings doing this. The space is very pleasant with a lobby that is always bustling with people waiting to get a drink from the bar or hanging out listening to the pre-show piano music. Yes you can get a drink here and take it in with you while you enjoy the shows (they have comfortable movie style seats with cup holders). In addition to the stage productions they offer more intimate cabaret style performances throughout the year in the lobby and the price of your ticket for these cabarets includes one drink from the bar. What a deal! They also have partnerships with local dining establishments so save your main show ticket stubs in order to take advantage of post show restaurant discounts. This is a little gem of a theater that you may not know exists if your route to & from 17-92 and downtown Winter Park takes you along Fairbanks rather than Orange Avenue. It makes for a wonderful alternative for any evening out. read more

It's worth travelling from Celebration to Winter Park to see the wonderful shows at Winter Park Playhouse. I purchased a season pass and have thoroughly enjoyed each and every show. There is a bit of a problem finding parking so I arrived an hour earlier but still no parking unless you park at the Meat Market which has obvious warning signs about being towed....chanced it twice but took the safe route and parked a distance away for peace of mind. As always, was warmly welcomed by the owner and staff and the surroundings were cozy and comfortable with a bar and music. The show was Stephen Sundheim's "Putting It Together" with a most professional and talented cast of professionals. This was the last show of the seasons but I am considering purchasing next season's performances. read more

Winter Park Playhouse is Central Florida's only professional musical theater. They present shows you won't see many other places, always tuneful and funny. They also have an outstanding Spotlight Cabaret series that sells out consistently. (Standing room is also available, but for a seat, buy tickets in advance!!) We enjoyed going to the new play "How to marry a Divorced Man" after dining with friends at Marlowe's Tavern, one of the partners to the Playhouse. A wonderful gem for musical theatre shows right in Winter Park. My dad wanted to attend a Neil Sedaka musical a couple of years ago and we've been hooked ever since. They usually have shows per season to choose from with very reasonable pricing for all, you pick three, or individually. Intimate theatre setting and every seat is great! They also do monthly piano cabaret shows with a $20 price that includes a drink. They've recently expanded the lobby so there plenty of seating to listen to piano music or grab a drink from the bar before the show or at intermission. Everyone who works there is as friendly as family, with many season ticket holders so plenty of familiar faces always. If you like musicals, check it out! read more

What an amazing place. We saw Why Do Fools Fall In Love. Great cast and venue. A lot of fun. I am definitely planning on returning.

Hubby and I just saw Showtune there and it was phenomenal! The staff is friendly, there is a bar open pre show and during intermission with plenty of space to sit and chat with friends, and the cast is talented on par with Broadway. They have Cabaret nights, too. This is the fourth time I've seen a show there, and, will continue to see many more shows! read more

Good professional shows here but in a theater that strives for elegance with a tinkling piano and a dress-up crowd it could do more. They sell cheap jug wine in stubby plastic glasses that really takes the shine off. Get some inexpensive stemmed glasses and offer an alternative to the bottom shelf California blends. read more

Fourth visit back to this gem. Roy Alan and Heather Alexander run a very professional theatre that does all musicals, and this time, Roy was starring in "A Day in Hollywood/A Night in the Ukraine," a rarely done musical that I had never seen! So excited, and the production lived up to my expectations. Traffic and construction slowed us down and we arrived after curtain, but Heather was giving the curtain speech and met me in the lobby and told me she would hold the curtain while my wife parked. She needed a Blue Moon, and Heather, true to her word, continued her curtain speech until we were seated. The show was delightful, and I told them I was going to win the Florida Lottery and build them a parking garage! We love this place and these people and can't wait for our next visit. They even took a photo of us and left a note for our friend Kate Zaloumes, who works in the box office two days per week and sometimes appears in the shows when she's not busy with Harry Potter! This is a professional musical theatre (there are not many of these anymore!) that always has an up lifting show and extremely friendly staff....Grab a drink from the gorgeous lobby bar, listen to live piano music , and then see some of the most talented musicians , singers and actors in the region delight you with a show.
