Here you can treat yourself to a delicious toasted sandwich or hearty lentil and veg soup for around $5, AMAZING vege burger for $7 or choose from one of their healthy salads or freshly made sandwiches or baguettes. This is good food for anywhere, let alone at Circular Quay where prices are automatically tripled as establishments assume tourists don't know they're being ripped off. BF and I had decided to ease our hangovers with a cooked breakfast. Although we had had a sub-standard B&E roll there a few months ago, we opted for Piccadilly due to its proximity and since I thought the cost would be less than normal, plus we wanted to give them another shot. I ordered a big breakfast for BF (bacon, eggs, beans, sausage, mushroom, tomato, toast) for $14.50. Eggs Benny for me (which was promised to be on turkish bread) was $13. Instead of bacon or salmon, I asked for mushrooms instead. (Now - this was my mistake. In hindsight - DONT make changes in a place you think is suspect anyway.) Old mate behind the counter said it was fine. I also ordered a large flat white for BF plus a large juice for me. Bill came to $42. I asked to see the receipt. Large coffees are $4.50. They charge $1 extra on Sat and Sun to die in! Didn't like that to start - plus he charged me an extra $1.50 for the mushrooms, even though they were in replacement of / cheaper than meat. But I made the change so I dealt with it. BF's came out OK and was decent - it's a fry-up after all. A full 10 mins after his meal arrives, mine comes. Bread was a muffin which was super soggy from mushrooms not cooked properly (i.e., cooked until all the moisture was out), minimal amt of hollandaise, with the poached eggs (gasp!) cooked hard. I brought the plate up and asked for eggs cooked the proper way, but offered to keep my plate. 10 mins later, out come the eggs, after which time there was very little left on my plate. Again, my mistake, but still not a good experience. TL;DR - greasy spoon quality food with so-so service at normal cafe prices. Don't waste your money or calories. Plenty of other options around Paddo that wont make you pay an extra $1 just for the privilege of sitting down.

They stock your usual suspects: boxes of Saltana Bran, jars of Vegemite. But what sets this market apart?? Apparently there's a deli at Carltons (reveled to me only by the sign that boasts "milk bar and deli"). However, I have no verifiable evidence that said deli exists. Perhaps it's because I'm always walking past in the late afternoon. As far as I can tell, Carlton exists for one purpose and one purpose only: to provide the residents of Glebe with a most amazing rocky road in the whole wide world. Choose between white chocolate / strawberry, dark chocolate, honeycomb, mint and cookies and cream. With piles of the stuff in the shop's window, you might stand there drooling awhile. Damn this place for being along my jogging path!! I imagine that scarfing a square of honeycomb rocky road the size of my head is definitely undoing all my cardio endeavors. But you know what? I think it might be worth it.

So, as others have commented, this is a very odd place, and the wife and I had been joking about the shady appearance of this place ever since we moved to Glebe. It's just bizarre, it's mostly empty, there's hardly anything in the displays, the shelves look like they're barely stocked, but it doesn't matter, because without fail, the front display that looks out over the street will be chock full of a myriad of colorful pyramids of Rocky Road delights! You can tell they actually sell a lot of it, because as you pass back and forth at different times of the day, the stockpile dwindles, but without fail, towards the end of the day, the great pyramids are rebuilt! Like the Syrens of Greek mythology, those pyramids finally called us into port here yesterday, and they did not disappoint! We rocked up into the Carlton, spent 2-3 minutes waiting for someone to come out of the back of the store, which seemed to fit. We inquired about a couple of things, and then got right to the point, what the deal with the RR in the window? He told us it's made off site somewhere and delivered just about everyday, so it's always fresh. I have to admit, after seeing the joint, I was a little glad to hear it's made elsewhere... Anyway, being unable to decide on which of the four flavors I wanted, I went with the handy 4-pack, and I was glad I did! We hustled home, and threw on a movie, and began the journey! The chocolate mint and the strawberry blocks were great, smooth chocolate, chewy bits of candy and marshmallow all throughout, just perfect! But the wife and I's favorites were definitely the white chocolate and the milk-chocolate, both were smooth and delicious and just an awesome compilation of lollies, chocolate and marshmallow! So, all in all, don't let the Carlton scare you away, I wouldn't get much else in here, but the Rocky Road is the best I've had in Sydney, by a long way!

They have a great cheese selection including a lot of imported cheese that I haven't seen anywhere else. The hot sauce selection is great including my latest favorite: Cholula. Lots of olive oils and their deli has great stuff too. Lots of different things for an antipasto plate. They are one of the first places in Sydney to bring in Clamato juice - which if you don't know is a key ingredient in the vodka-based drink called a Caesar. It is a bit pricey but worth it! The staff are also very helpful and let you try sample the cheeses before you buy. Highly recommended but bring your money. It is pricey but worth every cent.

The papardelle was thick and chewy with a delicate cheesiness and had an essence of the flavours from the decadent duck ragu; which was creamy and melts in your mouth. Their homemade focaccia (with garlic) was dense, garlicky and not too oily. The perfect appetizer and perfect for dipping in the seafood soup. And their tiramisu was delicious and just a perfect finalizer. To conclude, their service is great - all Italian staff and so polite and welcoming. The food came out very quick. High prices but it's honestly worth it the food here is insane. This restaurant definitely doesn't have the recognition it deserves. The best food I've ever had.

Toppings consisted of leg ham, olive oil, honey seeded mustard, roma tomatoes, fresh rocket, swiss cheese and crispy lettuce. The bread was soft and fresh. The fillings plentiful, and well-seasoned. This is a tasty sandwich! For my viewing pleasure whilst I completed my repast, Hare krishnas paraded up and down the street chanting their familiar mantra. All in all a good feed for under a tenner. I have a craving for one as I write this - and its only 7am in the morning! Italian grilled sausage on brown vienna bread, here I come! Although there are 3 branches in the city, they are all located within one city block which is kinda weird. The Pitt St and Barrack St stores are less than 150m of each other! But all of them are super busy during weekday lunch hour. My recommendations? Apart from the Italian sausage, the grilled chicken and the poached chicken breast are particularly good. The obligatory chicken schnitzel is ok, but not as good as Via Abercrombie. You also get to choose the type of bread...and you have to get either white or brown vienna. Oh and the foil-wrapped sandwich is huge! You've been warned... If you haven't tried Little Vienna, get yourself to one quick smart. The PItt St branch is particularly cosy and they also do a great banana bread & toast in the mornings. Love this place!
