It was about $45 per person which might sound a little steep but they take you to 16 stops all over the city and you can get on and off as many times as you like (just show your ticket!) They run about every 15-20 minutes and if you stay on for the entire ride, it's about a 90 min tour. Joey was our first guide and he was so awesome that we decided to stay on 2/3 of the way through (we only got off for a "pit stop".) He was hilarious and had dad jokes for days. We really enjoyed him. They also gave us some good info...if you're interested in the squares, sit on the left, churches on the right. Every seat near the window was excellent for taking photos. I'm glad I brought an external battery, I was taking so many pictures! There is no AC but they did give us fans! And there are a lot of good coupons included in their handouts. AND a really good map of Savannah. A lot of good info. I highly recommend!

However, I've never taken a trolley tour until this past September when we visited for a few days. We had several hours to kill on a Thursday and my history loving husband suggested we take a trolley tour and I thought why not? It would be a great way to see and learn more about the oldest city in Georgia! We chose the hop on-hop off tour, which is 90 minutes long. The tour begins each day at 9:00am and the last tour leaves at either 4:30pm or 5:00pm depending on the season. This tour goes through 14 stops and a trolley comes by every 15 minutes or so. We hopped off pretty early on to explore one of the squares by foot and ended up walking around, getting coffee, and shopping for over an hour. We hopped back on and stayed for several more stops, but had to hop off once we got closer to our hotel. We appreciate that you have the freedom to "customize" your tour experience. The tour was very informative and enjoyable! We loved the addition of historical characters who hopped on at different stops. The actors did a phenomenal job. Highly recommend!

We did the 75 minute historic tour of Old Savannah. Check in was a breeze and all employees we encountered were lovely. Our tour guide/driver, Irish, is a Savannah native and shared some of her personal anecdotes and gave us an in depth history of the squares and history. I learned a lot more about Savannah during this tour and would highly recommend!

A trip to Savannah can't be completed without a visit to Bonaventure cemetery, one of the most…read morehaunted areas in Savanah, about 10-15 minute drive from historical district. This cemetery is also famous from the book and movie Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. The cemetery provides a tour, $30 per person. You can also do your own tour. We did not take the tour due to crunching in time. We downloade a map from the Bonaventure historical society and drove through the cemetery. We stopped at the interested area and walked around to visit famous tombs. There are many symbols and beautiful statues carved by a famous sculptor, John Walz. The most famous grave is Gracie, in section D, who belonged to little Gracie, who died in 1889 at age 6 from pneumonia. Other tombs like Hershbach angel in as well as Taliaffero in section D. Section H and F also have amny beautiful statues.

At the last minute, we scheduled Sistah Patt's Tour, and honestly this is by far the BEST ONE, and we did several here and in Charleston, while visiting from California. Sistah Patt is incredible and inspirational, fact-telling, and is currently in projects in Savannah, bringing proper recognition and truth-telling. I wish I had done a little research on her, as I did after leaving her tour...oh my, I probably would have asked so many more questions, I had no idea of the advocate she is. Let me leave you with this: Who in Savannah can change a Squares name, from Confederate Vice President (Calhoun), to Taylor Square, to honor Susie King Taylor, born into slavery, who became the 1st Black nurse to serve in the Civil War and later open a school for African Americans in Savannah? Savannah Carriage Tours was incredibly frustrating and left me feeling taken advantage of. While…read morevisiting the area, I parked near their operation in what appeared to be a normal, public spot. There was zero clear signage indicating that parking was prohibited or that vehicles would be towed. No warning signs, no visible notices--nothing that would reasonably alert a driver. Within a very short time, my car was gone. I later learned it had been towed, conveniently and quickly, by a towing company that seems to patrol this area aggressively. The whole situation felt like a setup designed to trap unsuspecting visitors. It's hard not to believe there is some level of coordination when towing happens so fast in an area with no posted restrictions. The towing fees were outrageous, and the process to retrieve my car added insult to injury. What should have been a pleasant Savannah experience turned into a costly and stressful ordeal. Tourists beware: if you're anywhere near Savannah Carriage Tours, be extremely cautious about where you park--even if it looks legitimate. This experience seriously soured my visit, and I would not recommend supporting a business operating in an area where situations like this are allowed to happen.

With that being said, upon researching the area, Dan's tour came up as almost unanimously the best thing to do in Savannah. To say we learnt a lot and had a great time would be an understatement, Dan gave us a broad overview of many elements of Savannah's rich and diverse history. We were visiting from Florida, so we knew it would be hot, but as it was a very shaded route with plenty of stops it was not an issue. As Dan advices on the website, pack water, and sunscreen. The walk itself is very dog friendly and at a leisurely pace suited to all levels of fitness. Finding dog friendly activities is always high on our list, and plus the wealth of knowledge and passion Dan has it was a no brainer! Due to the heat, some other guests had to reschedule their time, so we were lucky enough to have a private tour, which probably would be worth an additional star on its own! Dan as a host was witty, engaging and brought Savannah to life. We have already recommended Savannah Dan to multiple people and will continue to moving forward.

My tour guide was very knowledgeable about the history of the house and even other movies filmed there. The tour started in the basement with stories about slave workers. The tour ends in the upstairs bedroom, learning about about Alida "Harper" Fowlkes. It you are interest in historic homes, definitely check out the Harper-Fowlkes House if you are in Savannah.
