While in Winston, we stopped into Wise Man to grab a beer with friends. I'm a big fan of a few of their beers, but unfortunately have only gotten to their brewery a couple of times. There was a great crowd that night, with people inside, and out enjoying their patio. They seemed to have an open mic night going with a variety of musical styles performing. It was a great crowd, and good energy. The staff were friendly, they offer a great variety of beer styles, something for all beer drinkers. We got a drink enjoyed it outside, while listening to the music. Though we didn't partake, they also had a food truck on site, offering dinner. Overall, a good visit, and good beer! read more

We were there to see a great band, who I will NOT name, as I do not want them associated unnecessarily with this review. It was standing room only this evening, and we had to park it near the door near the food truck. Being near the door in February, my daughter was getting cold. A woman came over, propped the door OPEN, and proceeded to video the band from half way out the door. She said something to my daughter about her being cold, which my daughter was honest about, but was ignored as she continued to video. As any father would do, I stepped in and asked to close the door as my family is cold, and went back to where I was standing. She proceeded to get in my face and say, "I'm the OWNER here and I'm getting a video" and went back to what she was doing. No I'm sorry, no recognition of her patron's needs. Just complete dismissal and rudeness. Needless to say, we didn't spend another nickel there, and never will. We left and will never be back as long as someone with that view of their patrons is still in charge. Zero stars for service and ownership regardless of how good their product may be. It was a crazy day, anticipating a big snow/ice event, but friends invited us and off we went! We are homebrewers and so have been frequenting this place since our friend and fellow homebrewer opened up 9 years ago. The brewery was packed and festive and the beers did not disappoint. I wasn't in a beer mood so I opted for the rum & coke slushy-refreshing but I'm pretty sure there is virtually no alcohol in it. Worked for me though, I was all about the flavor and in need of an icy drink. Bartenders were on top of things and no wait for anything we needed! Wise Man was having a night market, which was such a cool idea! You could grab a drink from the bar and walk around the parking lot looking at different local vendors and their unique products. Pros: They had a lot of options for beer, seltzers, and pre-made cocktails for everyone to choose from. They had plenty of indoor and outdoor seating and the bartender was very patient while he let me try what I might like before I order it! They also had a lot of games for their customers to borrow! Cons: Their food truck said they were there until 10, but they closed at 9 and they didn't have any other food to offer. Would I go back? Yes, but I'd make sure I ate before! We go to Wiseman Brewery and Coffee House often, and their specialty lattes never disappoint. The cinnamon bun latte espresso is rich and comforting, with smooth espresso layered with sweet cinnamon and vanilla that truly tastes like a warm pastry in a cup. The peppermint mocha latte with almond milk is equally impressive, blending bold espresso with creamy chocolate and refreshing peppermint, all perfectly balanced and not overly sweet. Both drinks are consistently well-crafted, cozy, and full of flavor, (might be seasonal and dissappear soon!). Exploring the area and saw this brewery was open. We stopped in. The guys at the counter asked us what we like I like sours my husband likes boozy IPAs and stouts. So they created flights with our preferences in mind. All mind were spot on. Sense of Ease was by far my favorite. My husband liked all of his I don't think he had a clear favorite. While we were there. Outside had a food truck, we didn't check it out have no idea what the menu was like but inside there was a live DJ playing music from records and taking requests. So the music was all over the place genre wise but if you enjoy music it definitely was a vibe. Since this will be close to our new home we will definitely come back maybe for one of their upcoming summer events. read more

got into town almost an hour ahead of schedule for a nearby thing so I decided to hide out over here for a bit. it took me a minute to realize the 'drink here' and 'order here' spots at the bar are different spots... after confirming the absence of cider I requested a Magic Hyper Beam (apricotted sour) plus a token for the vendo-art thing :-) found a high-top near the roll-up that blocked the road for the musicians setting up for the evening - it would have been way less awkward had i known in advance but I guess that's why there's always a 'next time'... all in all it seems a decent place: snack wagon out front, beers are abundant and varied, lots of people but not crowded, with plenty of fresh air and daylight during the day, and doggoes..! if I lived near here and was at all social I'd probably be on my way here. read more

Fantastic tap room and outdoor patio with plenty of seating and breathing room for all with a perfect indoor/outdoor connection. The bar extends along the length of the taproom with several points of service for ease and efficiency. The variety of options had something that hit the spot for everyone. The brew pub is low light with a rustic feel, sometimes they'll have bands playing here which is always a treat. The staff are kind & knowledgeable of the flavors of their beer. They don't serve food from a kitchen, but almost always have a food truck full of flavor to meet your hunger needs. Wise Man is always a great time. They do not have food onsite, however there is almost always a food truck set up there. The bartenders have always been friendly and efficient. I've been here when it's very busy and never had to wait very long to gety drinks. This is a very laid back atmosphere, great for hanging out with friends and having a good time. Always a good time here. A busy hopping crowd and this Friday night there was music by Danny Dockery band w guest sit-in artist the talented Doug Davis a local favorite producer and musician. Although it was crowded we managed to get our drinks from the bar quickly and find a table. The bartenders are very knowledgeable about their multitude of craft beers that this establishment is known for. They also have a list of wines that are very good, I tried the prosecco a little more expensive at $7.00 as opposed to the excellent beers they have on tap but when you go to a beer place and ask for wine...what do you expect lol. If you are looking for a cool hang out in Winston-Salem that has a huge variety of beer, look no further! Wiseman brewing is excellent! I love and IPAs there, but they also have some neat collaborations and one off beers that you won't find anywhere else! I visited Wiseman a few days ago for the Krispy Kreme beer collaboration. I was so excited to find that music bingo was also happening that night!! Music bingo is my very favorite thing! If you have not tried it out you are missing out! This particular music bingo was different than the usual events I attend. Each game allowed for multiple winners, and when I say multiple I mean 20 or 30! I think everyone playing won! And best of all, the winnings were a free beer! Can't argue with that! I will definitely be back again for both the excellent beers and the music bingo! read more

At this point I've had a lot of New England IPA's but this was one of the better ones from the string of them that we have had the last few years. Taco truck parked out back (taqueria lucianos) is really good so thats a plus after a couple beers. Open floor plan inside makes it seem much bigger and inviting. All were good, Scoop Dogg and Body Electric were my top two from what we tried. Bartender was awesome, helped with our final flight pick. Wise Man is my favorite brewery in Winston. They have a great selection of beer that include seasonal varieties as well as their staple beers. The brewery is a large, open warehouse style building that has a great vibe. There is a variety of seating both inside and outside that easily allows you to enjoy a beer while also maintaining a social distance. They have extended their outdoor seating and have added heaters to allow more people to enjoy visiting while being socially distant. On weekends they have someone at the door checking IDs as well as monitoring COVID guidelines.
