I'm a member of their Gold Star Program. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They were supposed to email/text me when they were coming to inspect my irrigation system to start up in the late spring. They never contacted me, so I had to reach out to them[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Then they couldn't get me an appointment for four weeks.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The appointment was scheduled for a date between 10:a.m. to noon. I stayed home and waited but no one came[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I called repeatedly and then didn't have an answer when someone would arrive. Ultimately, someone arrived at 1:45 p.m. -- almost two hours late.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Very, very unreliable. When you pay for Gold Star service, you expect Gold Star service. read more

I had reached out to WISSCO early spring to get their assistance finding a solenoid trap that was bad and buried in the ground so I couldn't find it or see it, but I wasn't sure where. I have experience replacing solenoids, heads and other basic irrigation maintenance, but that trap I could not find. Before the scheduled visit, I turned on our system, flagged every head in all 8 zones and marked the traps I did have...all but zone 4 which I knew needed a new solenoid. When I called to schedule I was told that there would be a $100 fee + costs for any additional parts, repairs, etc. Given the pre-work I did prior to the visit, the technician was able to use a wand and found my buried trap in about 5 min of arriving and searching the yard. He dug out the trap from under the grass and asked me if I wanted him to replace the solenoid. I shared that this was something I could do on my own, but would be interested to know what the cost would be (parts + labor). I was told it would be $30 (store price would be probably $15 or so). My rationale was that for $15 dollars it would save me time from heading to the store and time to install it myself. He replaced it quickly and conducted a quick check of the heads in the zone, replaced 1 and then left. The tech was great! I tipped him $40, offered coffee (chilly morning appt) and gave him some hand warmers. The total cost of the charge was $163, which I paid immediately. A couple days later, I was sent an invoice for an additional $48. I was confused. When I called, I was met with a contentious tone and told that the $100 for the visit covered the first 30 min of the technicians time + gas & mileage (we are both located in South Bend) and given he had spent an extra 20 min at my home, the additional charge would be $48. [[HIGHLIGHT]]My issue is principle. I was clear that I did not need any help replacing heads or the solenoid and shared that my father retired owning a commercial landscaping company where I worked and we did this work regularly. My issue...be transparent with customers on billing and fees...also stop treating customers who make a basic inquiry with contention when you are not presented with impoliteness or frustration[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. I was very clear with the tech about my capability and request for pricing so this additional invoice feels deceptive. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The attitude when I called to inquire and additional invoice felt like a slap in the face after the good experience I did have.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] If you are considering this company for service, know that they will do a good job, but hold their feet to the fire for billing transparency, if that's important for you, so you don't end up with any surprises. Wissco has been great help with my irrigation system in my new home with both the initial inspection, shut down service and again getting my service turned on this year. Late May of this year, seeking to prepare for the summer, I contacted Wissco Irrigation to have my sprinkler system activated and to address a known leak in zone 4, situated between my property and my neighbor's. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Melissa, the scheduler, listened to my needs but was only able to offer a Wednesday appointment in early June, which I accepted since my wife would be home.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] During the first service visit, the technician replaced some equipment and one or two sprinkler heads. However, when I turned the system on, I immediately noticed water pooling in my side yard--an indication the leak persisted. To manage the situation, I switched off the water after each use until I found time to call Wissco again. A technician returned in late June I believe. This time, the leak seemed fixed, but only for a few days before zone 4's valve became stuck open. This malfunction meant the water continued running, reducing overall pressure and again requiring me to manually shut off the supply between uses. Once more, I contacted Melissa and politely inquired whether, given the ongoing issues, the $97 service fee might be waived for the next visit. She said this could be addressed once the technician arrived. The diagnosis showed the valve for zone 4 was indeed stuck open. Though repaired during that visit the technician also went through my fiber optic line when he dug. Now I'm also waiting for that to be buried by the internet service provider. The next few days we had heavy rainfall. After the rain was gone on Sunday, after that Wednesday when the repaired was done, the day revealed fresh problems: persistent mud and ponding in the same area where the repairs had been made. Even after the rain had ceased, water continued to bubble up from the repair site--a clear sign the technician failed a portion of the repair, and the leak had returned once again. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Attempting to resolve the issue, I called Melissa and requested to speak with a manager. My first call was routed to voicemail. I made another attempt that led to me being transferred to another individual's voicemail. I proceeded to call back but this time Melissa wasn't answering, and I was being sent to a general voicemail box.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]When my wife called immediately after, she reached Melissa on the first ring, which left me questioning the handling of my calls.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]When I finally spoke to Melissa, I expressed my frustration at feeling dismissed. She then transferred me after a long hold to Theresa, one of the owners.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Unfortunately, the call began with something to the effect, "What's the problem?" and quickly became defensive regarding Melissa's actions. Theresa did agree to waive the service call fee but insisted I would still be responsible for labor to fix the leak, despite the repair repeatedly failing in the same spot. [[HIGHLIGHT]]At this point, I voiced my dissatisfaction, explaining that my concern was no longer about the financial aspect, but about the principle of good business practices and customer care.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The conversation ended on a sour note, but a manager did call me back about ten minutes later. Initially, the tone was unprofessional, but after I explained the full situation, the manager acknowledged the situation was not right and agreed to come by later that day--only to cancel around 3 p.m. after I had waited at home all day.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Ultimately, my reasonable request is for an apology from Theresa and a refund for the previous visit. I believe this would resolve the matter and allow both parties to move on. However, if this does not happen, I am prepared to pursue further steps as my personal business ethics and sense of fairness demand resolution. My husband and I were Wissco customers for years without a problem. Unfortunately, we had some backyard construction done this Spring and our irrigating system was broken. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Wissco was scheduled to have a crew here within a week per Bob. Two weeks later I called and left messages with Bob for an update but I heard nothing[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Bob then reached out to my husband via email and referred to me as "Karen." That's not my name![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I called the office again, desperate to get help and the receptionist told me she would have Tom, company VP, call me back. we had Wissco quote/install an invisible fence for our dog. They were on time and the quote was reasonable so we had them do the install. everything went well, and the dog trainer (Jenni) did a good job of helping us understand how to train our dog. The guy who did the install was friendly and did a good job. I was so impressed with their work that I decided to have them come out next week to replace our current irrigation system repair business. read more
