For $7.50 a week (that's basically the cost of one Starbucks coffee a week, if I was one to pay $5-6.00 plus tax for a cup of coffee... lol) but for that modest fee, they pull into my driveway right on time every single week and they quickly empty the trash and back on out. If I'm outside and we see each other, they always say hi. The workers are such nice pleasant hardworking people. Despite my trash cans often being a regular horror show mess (usually due to some tenant who didn't use trash bags when they emptied garbage out of their cars, which is an ongoing hassle due to tenants regularly moving in & out & me having to try to train yet another grown man not to throw full cups of cold drinks on top of garbage in my garbage cans because I don't enjoy having to wash them out when they do that......ugh...) I no longer have to stress taking my garbage off so this has been, as I said the best $30.00 a month I've ever spent. Anyway, I digress, McMurtry Disposal has even picked up a bag or two by my back door when I have absentmindedly forgotten to take them out to the cans in time, they've done that without me asking. So this company does an excellent, very reliable job for me week after week through snow, rain and my awful trash, at a very reasonable rate (I used to have to take my trash off myself and it was such a hassle, a mess and I dreaded it every time so I really appreciate the job they do for me. Within a week, they had gotten back to us about scheduled pick-up times, pricing, and dropped off a bin to start our composting journey. Compost Nashville is incredibly consistent. Without fail, I get a text every Sunday evening that an employee will come by to pick up our compost bin Monday morning. As previous reviewers have noted, the staff at Compost Nashville are more timely, courteous, and efficient than our bi-weekly garbage pick-up. They always arrive promptly with a clean bin for the week. I really appreciate how they give you a magnet of all compostable and non-compostable items for reference. It's doubly nice considering our compost bin is in our kitchen, so I can do a quick glance up at the magnet to ensure whatever scraps I'm dropping in are actually compostable. If you want to sell to them, the address is on South 2nd Street about a block away from the address listed here (google maps says it's about 591 South Second Street.) As a first timer, you'll park in the lot, stand near your vehicle and wait for someone to get you a pre-sale ticket. For me, they then provided a dumpster for my rather hysterically small load (I wanted a shopping cart) and took it to weigh the thing. While it's being weighed, you go to the window next to it, and give them your ID and thumb print. A ticket will be given to you and they can mail you a check or you can come back and pick it up another day. Prices are meh on purchases, but it's not like there's a huge availability of places to go. Yes, this is that giant metal/car dump you see when you pass south/east of Nashville. It looks and smells a little rough, but everyone was nice and after learning where the signs were that told all of this information I managed to get through pretty quickly.
