The AI bot kept repeating the message about how sorry they were that they could not give me an answer or provide information when a pick up would be rescheduled. Other ways to contact WM are unavailable. This is an ongoing issue with this particular driver. Nobody in our cul-de-sac had their recycling picked up, either. Call their service center: 800-796-9696. UPDATE: a truck came roaring into our street, picked up the two bins belonging to homeowners who called, and ignored the other six bins still sitting at the curb waiting to be emptied. 1 star is being overly generous to waste management. They have horrible customer services, will change your contract without informing you, and their prices are significantly higher than all of their competitors. Their drivers have gotten into physical altercations with me wife, and we've had to obtain restraining orders against them (luckily we have video footage. Even after reporting the issues to the company, it took notifying them of the court orders to have different drivers service our location. I'd rather have a root canal than deal with this company. read more

For the TL;DR crowd: They suck. For everyone else: I don't know if this is the correct location for the people I dealt with, in large part because it's just one of the things they wouldn't tell me. "We have a lot of locations, ma'am." We were cleaning out a family member's house after his death. We wanted to recycle as much as possible. We didn't need a dumpster or a "bagster" for general garbage, just some recycling cans for hundreds of pounds of paper, as well as empty steel, aluminum, and recyclable plastic containers. The first problem occurred when I called to ask for these cans. It was as though no one had ever asked for such a thing before, ever, and why would someone want that?! After about 1.5 hours on the phone (2 calls, to start with), finally the order was placed for multiple recycling cans and 2 garbage cans, plus regular pick up on the next scheduled day. A guy arrived the next Monday to drop them off. He puts out one of each, Spouse says, "I'll be right back to get the rest," and guy drives off. With all the cans still on the back of the truck, which apparently is no clue to him that he should maybe he didn't deliver everything. I called (13 minutes on hold), and they promise everything will be fixed the next day. Tuesday, the guy comes back and leaves 2 more cans, then drives off again. We've already filled the cans we had, so by the that time, I'm losing my rag. While sitting on hold again (22 minutes), I responded to an email that someone sent after my Monday call assuring me that everything would be delivered Tuesday. In my reply (and I'm still on hold, remember), I say that someone needs to call me ASAP because we want this stuff gone. No one responds to my email, ever. When someone finally picks up the call, they assure me this time, honest, for true, absolutely, the cans will be delivered on Wednesday. Finally! During the three weeks we were at the house, the full cans were on the curb, ready to be emptied on the regular pick-up schedule, but no one ever came by as far as we could tell. We were very busy, so I didn't bother calling again until we left. Different person on the phone (didn't write down how long I waited this time), says yes, things will be picked up Aug 31. I ask again, "Do you mean both that the recycling will be emptied, and that all the cans will be picked up?" Yes, there will be a pick-up. "No, I need to you be very clear with me, please: Will the recycling be emptied and taken away?" Yes. "And then all the cans will be taken away?" Yes. "And they won't come by to take the cans before they've been emptied and use that as a reason for not taking them?" No, they will empty the cans, then take them away. "Okay, one more time, to make sure, because this has been a stupidly difficult process: on August 31, Monday, the recycling and the garbage will be emptied. And then someone will come by and remove the cans." Yes. Anyone care to guess how this played out? (For this next bit, you need to know we only filled 9 of 10 cans. We could have put stuff in the empty one, but why should we have to move garbage around??) On Monday, someone apparently drove by, flipped open one of TEN cans sitting there, saw it was empty, and reported that they were all empty, so he did nothing. Someone came by to take them away, and said they were full. No one called me, no one emailed me. The neighbor who wheeled them all out on the curb called me after he got home from work to let me know. Brilliant! I waited until Tuesday morning, just in case, but no, they didn't come back So another call, and as I go through it all with the new woman, she says, "Well we don't even have down in your account that you're doing recycling. You don't have any cans." I beg (really, I said, "I am literally begging you...") to get someone on the phone who is not just the phone-answering people, but a supervisor or whatever, someone with a name that I can hold responsible for this mess. That's when I talk with "John." I'm not actually sure he gave me his real last name. When I asked, he heeessssitaaated and said a last name reeeeallly ssslllooooowly, which could be just hesitation or maybe lying. He said things like, "So I'm just looking now, this will take a minute, don't get upset" as though I was being unreasonable. It may be just his tone or affect, but he also sounded like there were things much more important on his list than talking to me. No expression of surprise at how screwed up the crew seemed to be. No apology about all the time on hold or even all the calls I'd had to make to get the garbage picked up. By the time the neighbor checked at 1:30PM, *some* of the cans had been emptied and taken away. Finally, by 6PM on Wednesday, everything was gone. It had come to the point where I'd actually contacted another company about hauling away everything, including WM's cans--they're plastic, they can be recycled, right? NEVER AGAIN. read more
