Imagine if Christmas threw up inside a store. Now go to Wolf Hill Home & Garden during the holidays. This place has such a nostalgic feeling to me because my family and I have been going here for years. We always grab our tree during early December, where they have a large variety of tree sizes. We grab a tree around 7 feet, and grab one that smells classic christmas. They put a fresh cut on the bottom and give you a ticket to pay inside. When you go inside, thats when the real fun happens. Walking around is like walking in saints workshop for christmas tree decorations. There are fake trees inside adorned with ornaments, tinsel, decorations and bows! The highlight of my holidays is walking around and picking out a new ornaments or taking pictures of the magic! Absolutely love this place! At the end, you drive around to the back of the building and they tie the tree down for you. Very secure! read more

I bought 2 bags of Johnathan green weed and feed here last week. The bags were not marked with a price. I was charged $98 EACH. I checked 3 other local garden centers in the area and they charged between 66 and 68 dollars a bag. When I returned the way overpriced products I attempted to have a discussion with the management at wolf hill about the price discrepancy and they shut down the discussion. read more

Excellent quality, outstanding variety and selections, and a very knowledgeable and helpful staff make it worth the ride from Newburyport to Ipswich. They have a good selection of roses, some of the best succulents around, and a very large assortment of annuals, perennials, herbs, and vegetables, trees and shrubs. With all kinds of garden furniture, tools, and gardening supplies, not to mention bulk and bagged compost soil, etc., it's hard to imagine what more they could possibly offer until you walk in the door to one of the most absolutely awesome gift shops in the area. We've purchased different yard and house decorations from them for years, and it was always great service and top quality, but the best treatment we got was from Ty and his team when we were looking to buy and install a patio. Having no experience with patio design, purchase, and install, I approached Ty with our idea and he was able to not only help us put our idea on a truck and deliver it, he gave us the confidence to do it ourselves. I'm not looking to strip credit where credit is do as WH has many nice things for Home and garden . However, I will never, ever buy or recommend buying firewood there again. I have only bought wood there once out of 3 attempts. The first time a few years ago , I was quoted 290 ish but they could not deliver for a week. Btw , I live a mile away. The year after I tried , but again , their help was putting on snow plows for a storm so they could not take the time to scoop up a load of wood . Lame . At that I decided I was done. However , my wife and I always find nice Xmas trees there and other nice stuff to buy so I said what the hell I'll give it another go. This time , sure we can deliver today . 400$ omg! Well that is high by any standard but I bought it regardless. Word to wise, as I look at a small pile of kindling left, that is what it really is, I can't help thinking how porked I got. 3/4 of the load are mere slivers. If one wants to buy a cord of wood around the size of kindling , then by all means , have at it. You'll be happy. But if you want to augment the heat in your house a little , you'll be sorely disappointed when you have to load the stove every 15 mins with sticks. The 400 makes it all the worse. The first pic is pretty typical of wolf hills wood. The second is pretty typical of someone else who clearly cares more about what they sell. read more

After comparing other nurseries in the area, these are my favorite by far. Helpful staff, beautiful and healthy plants, easy to navigate, and comparable prices. Friends in the area have said they thought wolf hill was overpriced. I found them to have plants priced the same, and even lower!, than the other nurseries within 10 miles. read more

Tyler Chaffee was our primary contact for firewood. We have ordered 2 seasoned cords this season, one at the start of the heating season, and one three days ago. Both cords were delivered as promised, but neither were seasoned. Seasoned firewood, by industry standards, is at or below 20% moisture. Neither cords were seasoned, as evidenced by our moisture meter tests, and lack of wood "checking", both of which are indicators of seasoned firewood. We noticed that the wood would not catch fire in our stove, and when we put it on an already primed stove with hot coals, that it would hiss and leak sap profusely, at all times during the season. We contacted Wolf Hill the first time, and they made it right by paying for a chimney sweep to account for the creosote build up that comes from burning unseasoned wood. On our second try, we received semi-seasoned wood again (39% moisture), and called Tyler. Tyler made many excuses for the result we were observing in burning the wood and inferred that we were in the wrong with our observations. He never trusted our feedback. Tyler said that we shouldn't rely on the moisture meter in the cold, so we took a pile of wood and placed it next to our stove for 5 hours. It was warm to the touch and we took the reading again. 39% moisture. 39% moisture in split firewood constitutes, by definition, semi-seasoned wood. This is wood that will catch fire in a hot stove but is not worth $400 per cord. The creosote buildup from burning semi-seasoned wood is a fire hazard. The premium price of $400/cord should provide the customer with the opportunity to explain their observations and data associated with the complaint, which we were not provided. This is marketing fraud at its finest. If you want seasoned wood (20% moisture or below), look elsewhere, because Wolf Hill is not honest about the quality of its seasoned firewood, and is reluctant to receive customer feedback. I have pictures and videos documenting the quality of this wood (moisture meter readings and actual burning of the wood with sap pouring out) and would appreciate if the owners of this business, James and John McKechnie, would be in touch. read more

I have made two trips here in the last two days to make a fire pit for my back yard. The employees were very helpful in providing me with the correct amount of pavers and they knew what I should use at the best price. Not only did they help me load my car but they were willing to give me a coupon for the next trip. I would recommend to anyone from backyard gardeners to landscaping and masonry companies. We have been regular customers at Wolf Hill in Ipswich for the past six years. A year a half ago we purchased a fire pit after seeing a display at the Garden Center. When we assembled it at our home the height was 2 levels lower than the display. When I went back to tell them we were short the layers I was told that they had added 2 more levels that made it higher. We ended up having to purchase the additional blocks to achieve the same height - we were deceived by a display that did not represent the product we purchased. The saga continued late last week when we returned to Wolf Hill to show them that the screen had pretty much deteriorated to the point that it no longer provides any protection from sparks, etc.. They had no solution for us and offered no assistance to us other than to assure us that we would contacted by phone by a manager from Wolf Hill. We are still waiting for the call 6 days later. Conclusion= deceptive product display & poor customer service! No more Wolf Hill for us! read more

I use to love this store in Salisbury but unfortunately I will not be a customer any longer. They need some serious customer service training at the registers. I was treated rudely and unfairly while trying to get credit towards their new customer loyalty account of all things. I have never been so disrespected and humiliated in front of others (three cash register workers and other customers)by one in particular employee who is in need of some serious training. They have a lot of garden items, both inside and out. It's a deceptively large store. Unfortunately, I will probably never be back. I felt like I was being followed throughout the place... And they even ran out of the building to ask me if "everything was ok" as I neared the exit with an $8 item in my hands that I hadn't yet paid for. There is stuff in your parking lot for sale.
