Today I went to Tri-City Sales in Ipswich, MA. To shop for new double ovens. It was a remarkably painless process! The woman we did business with is the sister of the owner (her name is Janet... ask for her!!) and she was very professional and competent. My parents had done business with her before and I was pleased to meet her. One of the big things that pleased me was that the disposable fee for my old oven is going to be less than $100 and the install is less than $300. I had gone to Doyon's in Gloucester earlier in the day and the quoted me $800 for the same service!! I will have my new ovens in less than two weeks. It will be great to have it done since I replaced my cooktop last year (took the gas out and put an induction top in). read more

I always try to support local, but you're wasting your time here. The dismissive nature of the staff is real. If you're not buying a appliance package for 10K nobody can get off their ass. Sales staff seem nice when you Make a purchase but beware if anything goes wrong. They act like they don't know you and get mad at you if there is a problem. In our Case the dishwasher leaked within a week of installation (we paid for the install). The only positive is that the plumber was really great!!! And responsive !!! read more

We used to buy lots of things from Tri-City Sales and were sorry to see how far downhill it's gone, having nothing to do with Covid but for product availability. We called over a weekend looking to replace a specific (old) high end microwave oven, were informed by the woman there that one was indeed on display so we went in to take a look at the newer model, that was great. Her attitude was so dismissive though even though we were the only in-store customers, where their salespeople used to be super helpful . She made no suggestions re comparable product when we asked, and then told us this oven was back-ordered and she would check on availability and would give us a call. She also made a disparaging comment about "big box stores" that I don't recall, but suspect Tri-City can't compete with inventory is the problem... We never heard from her and ultimately bought one from said big box store, it will arrive on Monday, and with a better warranty. Run from this place. The delivery people are beyond a nightmare, and the owner not only does not stand behind his products, he does not service them and takes no responsibility once the sale has been made. My first appliance resulted in the delivery men blowing the electrical line to my stove and to my house. The town inspector had to get involved for us to get a new stove. The fridge I just bought was used as a hacky sac in the truck by the delivery men and although they were nice enough to bring the fridge in they could not be bothered to hook it up or even give me a receipt. You can do better basically anywhere else. I will be taking them to court and the filing fee is well worth it at this point as they do not call you back . I could go on but this worthless company is not worth it. 11/10/20 I just wanted to update my issue above. RUN FASTER from this place. I am now being harassed as the Tri City Truck passes my home they are sounding their airhorns which in the end represents not them but Tri City Sales. When I spoke to Tim the other owner and our salesman Janet after this occured, I got no more than a 'you deserved it for giving us a bad review'. So I guess the highlight of today was the air horns in the end. Anyway I would like to change my rating to a zero because a one is too good for this place. We had a great salesman Charlie. Sadly, ALL the appliances had to be repaired in the first year and half! Dryer won't dry. Fridge tortured us with alarms and freezing ( not a freezer a fridge) then was hundreds to repair. Washer doesn't always drain. Stove was an energy saver and is the biggest energy sucker EVER. We bought higher end energy savers and are so incredibly disappointed. And out a bunch of money and time as well. read more

Went to Tri-City in Ipswich on a Saturday. The staff was friendly and extremely knowledge. She gave us very honest assessment, didn't try to sell us the expensive one, helped us to pick out the one that fitted our needs. Delivery was smooth. We have been using the new Bosh 500 dishwasher for a month. Extremely happy with the product and the whole process. Will definitely use tri city for future appliance purchase. Oh. Bought a fridge with hopes of installation before Thanksgiving. Tri-City delivered! Delivery crew did a great job being extremely careful with the very tight tolerances our doorway offered them. Every step of the process took place as expected. Fridge in stock. Delivery on this day of the week. Phone call to confirm delivery window the day before. Delivery shows up at the beginning of the delivery window. Old fridge and all packing materials removed. Was a great experience. Would recommend. Will do business with them again. read more

Great to work with. They know their appliances and repair history. Went in to buy Dishwasher, refrigerator, stove, garbage disposal and range hood. Had what I wanted and was willing to match price for 30 days for the exact models. They were able to answer questions that box stores could not and willing to speak to the contractor if needed. They use their own long term employees for installs and delivery ...no sub contractors!! Wouldn't go anywhere else. Have bought there in the past and was happy but tempted to go and get a better deal ....there is no better deal!!! They even help you with the rebate paperwork! read more

The salesperson I worked with was unfriendly and acted like my questions were annoying. Members of our family have purchased several appliances here, and while we've had a number of positive experiences with Tri-City in Ipswich, our latest interactions have been absolutely excellent. We purchased a washer/dryer set that were made by a high-efficiency manufacturer that had not been selling in the US for very long but, according to the research I'd done, it was a promising brand. We've had a number of problems with this pair (all manufacturer-related). Charlie, the sales manager at Tri-City sales has been so patient, and so persistent, and so helpful in addressing these issues that I cannot begin to say how grateful I am for his hard work. It's just been resolved this afternoon, and I could not sign in fast enough to Yelp about my experience. Recently, when we were making selections for another substantial order, both Charlie and Darryl were very informative and professional in helping us choose products that met our needs, and they steered us towards options that would be the most cost-effective. I feel very good about the value of that purchase. Also, the delivery personnel were true professionals. They were on time, personable, made sure the installation went perfectly, and cleaned up after themselves. We have a tough space to move around in, and they were great during the entire process. We've made purchases at big box stores before, and have never once received the kind of customer service and value we get at Tri-City in Ipswich. read more

Where do I begin? We went to Tri-City because we needed some help deciding which range to get. They were very polite and I thought they were helpful, but when we received our range and reviewed the instruction manual, we discovered that we couldn't use half our cookware with it. Nothing about these limitations were mentioned despite the fact that I spoke about the pieces used most frequently. Delivery? We delayed delivery a couple days because we were only available one morning. Tri-City left a message the day before delivery saying it would happen in the afternoon. Repeated attempts to contact their scheduler were met with busy signals. Calls to the sales office were answered with "it is out of our hands". If you are going to pay full service prices, you expect FULL service. read more

In spite of my laborious calculations, the new GE Refrigerator would not fit through the outside kitchen door. Obviously, I screwed up and was highly embarrassed. The delivery guys were calm, they took off the refrigerator's doors, and made some suggestions on how to proceed. We needed 3.5 inches. Bottom line, we needed to take off the exterior trim, entire storm door, main door, door frame, and threshold to get it in. A big job. Fortunately, I made a call to a friend who was working down the street with his painting crew. They came up in minutes and the door was disassembled rather quickly. Rather than leaving me stranded with the unit half apart in my back yard, or return it to stock, the Tri-City Sales delivery guys hung in there with me while the door was being removed, which they didn't have to do! My husband and I are switching from oil heat to gas, and since we will be doing so we wanted to start searching for a high end gas range. Needless to say, I have been cooking on electric for forty-nine years, but knowing gas is the best for novice cooks, that was what I wanted to go with. Looked first at State Street Discount, as they have a higher volume to choose from. Salesman was not helpful and did not offer any info, just wanted to sell us a wolf stove, so we left. Went to Tri-City on the way home, and I asked about things I knew nothing about just to get a heads up on what to look for. The salesman that assisted us was top notch. He took a little over an hour explaining every single detail on the two ranges we were interested in, Wolf and GE Café. Price did not matter, this is my hobby, and we always buy top of the line. I wanted large knobs in the front, and a professional look and workmanship to it. Finally settled on the Thermador. The salesman` name is Sean Curtis, and he knows his stuff. After he did all the configurations, this was the most for our money. It has it all. After we arrived home, it turned out that we did not have enough height from the top of our range, which is a thirty year old Jenn-Aire, to the bottom of the above range microwave. Not too mention the upper cabinets are longer due to the seven inch soffet we have from the ceiling. So, after all is said and done, we cannot go with a gas range, unless we do a complete remodeling from top to bottom. We have cherry Quaker Maid cabinets which are still beautiful, and, at this stage of our life, do not want to put that kind of money into the kitchen. But when my electric coil Jenn-aire dies, we will definitely return to Tri-City and seek out Sean. He is the old school mind salesman in a young body. Thanks again, Sean, for you expertise. We definitely will be seeing you again whether it be a new fridge, and yes, it has a drip pan, or a new electric, and I hate those smooth cooktops, range. I am very old school. Bring back my coils!! I bought a $400 weber grill in 2013. It has never worked. The only reason I have 2 stars is because they made a galant effort to get it fixed. They have been to my home 4 times at least replacing part after part. It's now past the 1 year time frame and I'm stuck with a piece of crap grill. DO NOT BUY A GRILL FROM HERE. For whatever reason it's defective and I've asked twice for a full replacement but told they would make it right. They even replaced food cost the last time it wasn't repaired correctly which on the surface sounds generous however the only reason they had to was because the grill ruined the food due to broken parts. So now here it is August 2014 and after about 4 times of it reaching temperature and actually cooking food the last two times it once again won't get to temperature and is broken and not cooking food. It doesn't go above 300 degrees. The knobs are pitiful they turn and rotate and you have no idea whether your on high or low (the grill uses obscure pictures and not words to show if it's on high or low). Go to Walmart and get a cheap grill. Don't waste your money here on an expensive grill it's just not with it. Go here for appliances NOT grills read more

i was shopping for a top-of-the-line miele vacuum. i needed a hepa filter. i repeatedly explained what i wanted, but the salesman said there was no such thing, and showed me a lot of lower-priced models. i was very very VERY persistent, because my friend has one and i'd used it, and i knew it was a miele. and finally he said, "really, that's the only thing we have. except for this other thing that costs $900, i mean you don't want THAT, do you?" yes, that's exactly what i wanted and had been asking for. duh. read more

Purchased a refrigerator and range during tax free weekend. Both were delivered 8/22/14. By 8/31 all food in the refrigerator had to be thrown away and the temp was 60 degrees inside. Tri-City was contacted on Tuesday and the policy is that a tech is sent out before replacement is discussed. Waited and waited and revisited Tri-City before tech called only to be told there was no one in this area this week. My husband went ballistic and demanded someone come the next day or they could pick up this refrigerator and return our money. Tech came the following afternoon and told us that the defrost mechanism had not been plugged in during the assembly. Another 24 hours, we were able to put what was left of our food in. We have not heard from anyone at Tri-City since the complaint. No follow up, no offer of reimbursement of the $20 a day we spent on ice, no apology. We had bought 5 different appliance there over the years and never expected to be treated with such indifference. Frigidare was contacted. They do not pay for food or ice replacement and will only extend the warranty. We now have a band new refrigerator we do not trust. We check the temp every time we open it. I understand the quality of products have changed over the years and everything is disposable. But customer service and customer loyalty go a long way. Just look at Market Basket. read more
