Went in for a new patient appointment and will not be returning. Their admin is a non-existent mess. It took three phone calls to even get an email address for them so I could send my prior x-rays. In office, the hygienist struggled to access the x-rays. Then she tells me their phone/email system is handled by someone in Pakistan: huge red flag. Is that HIPAA complaint? That's if you're a lucky new patient. Existing patient calls are answered by an AI agent. I know many won't notice or care about this, but I found the AI voice wildly off-putting and misogynist. The LLM imitates the voice of a teenager with intense vocal fry, bored affect, and unprofessional slang. Given how much AI is used for pornography, I believe this AI was trained on pornographic content. Fine if you're into that, but as a woman I don't think I should have to interact with porn just to call my dentist. I was irritated by all of this but wanted to give them a try anyway. Unfortunately, their medical service is also low quality. The dentist exam was very brief. He ordered an x-ray and then didn't even look at it, but instead accepted the hygienist's interpretation. I know this because there is no privacy in the office and you can hear all conversations between staff and other patients. Immediately after, I get an email that my follow up appointment was scheduled for a procedure I never consented to. When I replied stating I did not schedule this appointment, I was told that their AI system schedules these automatically. They also have a fairly harsh cancelation policy - $50 fee for cancelling with 72 hours, longer than industry standards. It seems they just make appointments without consent from patients in hopes of collecting fraudulent fees. I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau about this practice, which I do not think should be legal. I have nothing positive to recommend about this place. Lesson: never ignore red flags and get your teeth cleaned elsewhere. read more

Do you actually want to see a dentist when you go to the dentist? If so, avoid Total Health Dental. When my daughter and I arrived for our appointments we were told that there was no dentist on site for the day. I assumed they would have us return to actually see a dentist. Instead, they put a camera on us after our cleanings and had a dentist on a computer screen. He could not see inside of my mouth or do any exam. They actually billed our insurance for a remote dentist. They fired their receptionist and instead have a person on a computer screen when you arrive. If you try and call them to make an appointment or ask a question you will just be on the phone with an AI assistant. The AI makes exasperated sighs and even sometimes has side conversations, it's really bizarre. They have a constant turnover of dentists so don't expect to see the same dentist within the year. Their bottom line appears to be more important than high quality care. It used to be a much better business, but then they started firing people. read more

The dentist and hygienist were both very lovely and professional - would highly recommend if it was just for them. However, I find that front of house often has very predatory practices and is not looking out for their client's best interest. They were very dishonest and pushy with their loyalty program making it seem like it would save me money by only accounting for first year charges in a 4 year commitment in their price calculations. This made it seem like a great deal when it actually wasn't. When I called to confirm if they were in network for my insurance, they said I was even though I wasn't. I'm not sure if this was a mistake initially but they didn't even mention that I was out of network when telling me about my costs and options. They also try to get you to pay without thinking by offering 10% off if you book your procedure the same day as an exam. This is the type of thing that erodes trust with clients. Focus on building trust and looking out for client's best interest instead of trying to squeeze money out of them and you'll have better business. read more

Stay away at all costs. These people said I had three cavities and took a large deposit for a filling appointment. Having never had cavities in the past, I got a second and third opinion on the matter, and both said that my teeth were in perfect condition. I lost my deposit, and to this day, I receive notifications from them warning me of the cost of ignoring cavities. These people systematically overtreat their patients. They take advantage of the public's trust in medical professionals. They will damage your teeth to profit off of your insurance claim. This business is the definition of evil. read more

Not a good place for certain minorities. You see a hygienist in person then a dentist appears on video. Over many years through several customers this is the pattern. Only whites, African Americans and light skinned Asians are treated well, everyone else will be bullied. They use physical force and aggressive behavior by the hygienist (employees who do the cleaning). Don't know how this deliberate behavioral pattern over many years can be considered an accident. This office is slowly moving towards virtual doctor appointments and it's hurting their patients. I first joined this dentist because they marketed as a wholistic approach on dental health and they seemed to throughly inspect my teeth. Now it feels profit based and at the patients expense the photos and talking virtually to a dentist is a very easy way to be misdiagnosed. When I asked for my chart to be updated to list I only want a cleaning when a doctors is onsite they said they don't have the option. The dental hygienist and doctor on site are wonderful. However you may go in on a day without a doctor and have to be assessed virtually. read more

I was told on my first visit that I needed a procedure and scheduled it and paid in advance. I paid for a "membership" which in turn further reduced the cost of special procedures. When I returned to actually get it, the other doctor present - the one who actually was scheduled to do the work - said I didn't need it and it shouldn't have been recommended to me in the first place, not even close. I appreciated her honesty, but didn't at all find it okay that her colleague had kinda spooked me into getting it in the first place. Needless to say, I didn't proceed. Medicine is a business, too, which i understand, but personally I feel that there's too much concern and fear present to be able to responsibly "upsell" anyone in a fair and transparent way. But What ticked me off was their refusal to allow me to cancel this silly "membership" a mere few weeks later, which I only purchased in conjunction with the procedure to get a discount on that large cost. That, on top of no one returning a call or email with anything remotely resembling good customer service or respect. read more

If you want to have teeth pulled unnecessarily, this is the place to go! This dental office prioritizes maximizing profit over providing care. In April, I had an exam at Total Health Dental Care. The dental assistant took a video of my teeth and a dentist reviewed it remotely. I did not get X-rays done because I was pregnant. The dentist told me my wisdom tooth was riddled with cavities and needed to be pulled. She suggested booking an appointment and asked the dental assistant to give me a quote asap. I was skeptical and pushed back. After having my baby, I got a second opinion from a different dentist who looked at my teeth in person. The tooth the remote dentist at Total Health Dental Care suggested should get pulled did not have any cavities (this was confirmed with x-rays) - it was just stained. I'm glad I didn't pay to get a perfectly healthy tooth pulled. While the woman at the front desk is very nice, I will never be going back to this dental office. read more

Unfortunately I just tried to have a visit here and I've come away not knowing if the cavity we are watching is even a concern. I used to love the dentist I saw here but they now have a corporate model of virtual care where there is no doctor on site to give a dental exam, check for cavities, recession, etc. Even if those are your long standing issues they will still have you come in for multiple visits (one virtual doctor, one in person doctor) which for someone like me who is immune compromised, is not safe. Especially since they aren't using the machines that collect aerosols of patients at each station anymore. They take photos, and a doctor in a corporate office who you don't know, doesn't look at your actual teeth, but photos. I wasn't given a reason for the change. I can't help but think this is for profit, they employ less actual dentists, one dentist covers multiple offices. But in an industry where people have many fears, here you don't get to develop a relationship of trust. If speaking to a stranger who does not know you or your history works for you then otherwise the practice is good. Perhaps I would have felt differently if they'd warned me. My appointment had been rescheduled twice, and when I came as usual I wasn't even going to get an exam. Some of us rely on routine and setting expectations if we have fears about the dentist, neurodivergence, mental health issues, and I felt this was not considerate. read more

I found this place through Yelp & I used to go to Campus Dental Care. I noticed a significant difference like they're super thorough from the initial appointment consisting of x-rays, photos of each tooth, etc. They're very comprehensive so they do cleaning as a separate appointment from the new patient initial one. When I came in for my cleaning with Sandy, it was also very thorough. I don't think I've had this great of a cleaning. I'm glad I found this place and all of the staff and dentists are so nice and friendly. read more

She's extremely knowledgeable and enjoys what she dose and it shows with care. I then met Ashley who honestly went beyond for my care. I am in desperate need for dental work and I'm so grateful to meet a coordinator who took extra time to break down each of my treatment plans to make things easier and more affordable. I felt dismissed and set up. I came to appointment 5/10. My insurance was not accepted, which I knew. I signed up online for their members insurance and was told I would be contacted and was not but was texted the morning of appointment. Thank goodness, because there was no policy detail online. I arrived and told me to fill out membership billing. Despite being rushed, I caught the set up for drowning in dental bills. I The membership insurance does not save you money but cost more: It is $50. month with a no cancellation for 12 month clause and 50% of fee up to $1,000 and the rest is out of pocket; which dental cavities, crowns, extraction are expensive and will be way more than $1,000. for me. With no TMJ coverage which was a main medical/dental concern. What a racket. 1. I pretty sure a can't get out contract is a violation of California Consumer Law "cool off" period 2. After insisting with this indifferent receptionist to know cost of exam and x-rays which THD presents they offer upfront costs of services, she told me it was $89. I anticipated paying cash and would have. Yet, with membership it would be $94.50 ($50 + 1/2) and imagine if you need to get dental services more than once a month that $1,000. limit is gone fast. 2. Then for a $1,000. limit you pay $1,100. minimum over a year ($600. at $50/month and $500. for 50% of a $1,000. and once that $1,000. consumed it is total out of pocket. Do the math. In addition, I was being facetious and said why don't you just bill me for a cancellation and shred my documents. I was being ironic because the greed and dishonest business practices was there. Because the receptionist indifferent vibe and got all excited over my ironic statement, I told her to give me the documents so I could shred them. I will not chance them could billing me for their "useless" membership insurance wrongfully. My card was billed for $50. cancellation in moments. My fraud detection should have got that one. It was just a client that their dental services did not work out for their dental needs. I definitely agree with some of the other one star reviews. This place is definitely sus and am not sure why they have so many 5 star reviews. I came in for a cleaning and was strongly recommended a crown on a tooth that was not bothering me at all. I didn't think too much of it and went ahead and it's been a NIGHTMARE ever since. The tooth bothers me day and night since the crown involves drilling the teeth and that hit a nerve. Hurts when I chew on things or drink hot and cold water. And of course it was only after the operation that the dentist warned me that there would be side effects and a chance I would need to do a more serious root canal in the future if it starts hurting. Um, you should've told me that before I dropped a thousand dollars(I have ship) and go through both operations. They again strongly encouraged and tried to rush me into another procedure. Before blindly listening to them again, I went again to get a second and third opinion. Not only do both recommend waiting on the additional operation they both expressed doubts about the crown operation in the first place, once examining previous x-rays. Said I didn't really need a crown and there were definitely alternative procedures. And I should've been informed of the risks considering the crown would be so close to my nerves. TLDR: stay informed and get those second opinions. Be careful of this establishment - they ruined my teeth. Everyone was nice and all but imagine being only able to eat from one side of your mouth and not being able to drink boba without hella pain. read more

Not only was Dr. Jessica rude, she also tried to scare me into paying for at least 15,000 worth of dental restorations. She spent maybe a couple minutes with me, then immediately sent in someone from billing to pressure me into signing up for predatory "credit." It was awful. I'm a low-income student. I told them that. They were so aggressive and kept trying to get me to sign their contract. I told them I just didn't have that kind of money. Their office said to me, "just have your parents cover it!" I've had a lot of complicated dental issues, and trust me I'm aware of this--it's my mouth! Dr. Jessica would say things like "wow, you've had a lot of cavities!" Obviously. It's traumatic, expensive, and humiliating. I dont need someone to be rude and callous WHILE they try to hustle me out of a fortune. By the way, I went to UCSF and the work cost me about $400, WITHOUT drilling down my teeth anymore than necessary. This is a review for their "welcome center" in Berkeley. It doesn't look like they have a yelp for that. Although the office was clean, the people were very nice, the experience was... Weird. I went in to get some x-rays because I had a tooth that was bothering me and I knew I had a cavity. I first had to rinse with some straight up hydrogen peroxide which was horrible. I don't know why they don't use mouthwash. I had a tech take a look at my teeth and then they sent the x-ray images to a remote dentist. They set up an iPad for me to speak to a consulting dentist. He told me I needed a dental implant (that would cost $6000). When I was checking out they said if I booked the first implant appointment that day, they would give me 10% off which was super weird. I wasn't buying a car. They wanted me to book an appointment with an oral surgeon that I didn't even know the name of, so no. I declined I decided to get a second opinion from my partners dentist who does fantastic work. He said I need a crown and that suggesting an implant was ridiculous. The experience dentist at Total Health left a lot to be desired. I felt like a number. Not sure why they have so many 5 star reviews. About two weeks prior to the actual date they send me a text telling me that they "had to change the time" from the 6th to the 5th, a day earlier. They then stated that I would be charged a cancellation fee if I missed that appointment. Keyed over in pain, unable to eat, sleep, as the nerve pain has essentially rendered me to bed, empty stomach & sick. I'd made a appt. at this location days before, to find that my appt. had been canceled w/o provocation or a simple call. Frustrating, especially as condition was worsening by the day, to point which I'm describing now. Reschedule & at appt. before appt. time, I felt somewhat accomplished, in that my pain & inability to open my mouth would be turning around soon. That I was on track to pain relief. A filling had uprooted and became part of foodstuff I'd been eating about 6 days ago. Day 4 I called for & set an appt. 3 days ago my appt was unceremoniously canceled. So, here I am, being pressured to open my jaw passed point of ability, well into point of pain & discomfort. No one forced to deal w/ my case gave any genuine care...care to make this visit worthy of my time or money. They want me to perform actions I'm unable & must painstakingly ask management for further instruction. I'm apparently either being difficult or this office shouldn't be advised. I was treated with absolute disdain and disregard through most of the process. That made me feel lean a lower state because my pain level is, -& remains- unbearable! I'm in such discomfort and sad from my inability to eat, sleep or thwart off some of this pain that I honestly believe this office isn't for some people. Call me a liar when I say it seems like the staff take sadistic pleasure in my suffering. Well, I called back into the office to report my awful night of no sleep, neck pain up to forehead pain and having to take a Motrin 800 and the antibiotic on an empty stomach, which made me feel sick. My jaw is swollen almost shut. Well, the good staff got me another 25 or so more Motrin 800! I have 24 already!! This place is insane and I'll honestly say, please, please, do not waste your time or money to be possibly treated like this. I went to Total Health for their "first free consultation", to later be billed. When I went in, they told me I had 5 cavities and would need fillings. When the quote came out to be $900+, I was shocked and asked them if they were in network (which I thought they were based on questions answered on yelp), they were reluctant to tell me that they were not in-network... I went to another dentist and found out I only had one cavity that I needed a filling for. I would like to think that Total Health is not trying to scam me and rip me off for fillings I do not need, but I definitely do not trust them and do not recommend this place at all! read more

No doctor on site, they took pictures and did a X-ray and then called someone online for diagnosis. They can not confirm my SHIP insurance after I called the SHIP office and make sure it's activated and the id I provided is right. They didn't reply email to confirm if they got my insurance confirmed. They scan my ID and credit card which makes me worried about my information safety. They claimed to charge a 50$ cancellation fee within 72 hours of the appointment but only informed you within 72 hours. Phone is not answered too. read more

The entire staff is super friendly I came here a few years ago & remember how good they made me feel. What really stuck out to me was that they asked me what I liked most and least about my last dentist. You can tell they really care about their patients.
