Did not have a good experience with services. The MRI was not ready, was not sent to the doctor…read moreoffice, and had not been read by radiologists. They had 3 weeks to complete this task. I waited 2 hours in the doctor's office for Elite to find a radiologist. No one seems to know why it was not done. Because of their inefficiency, I had to re-schedule my appointment, causing delay in treatment.

The service was always good both times from both the folks in the front and the back. They are located on the 1st floor of the building. They also validate your ticket for you which is great and rare. The building seems on the newer side. It's clean all around. I got reminder messages closer to the day of my appointment and also was given the opportunity to fill out the paperwork online prior. When you do this, all you have to do is give them your name when you arrive. When I had my MRI scans, they also played music for me through headphones while in the machine. I got a hard disk copy of the images the same day. Remember to remove all metal items if you are having a scan!

I've been aware of self-scheduling self-pay MRIs for a few years now, but this was the first time…read moreusing it. On the plus side, it was simple to use and easy to get a quick appointment. The scan itself produced good images and came with an accurate interpretation from a radiologist. But while I got the results that I needed, I don't think that this service is the right fit for everyone. It was super easy to schedule. They have an online scheduling form, and it was also easy to get a next day appointment (I don't think a lot of people are using the service). I paid a $50 deposit toward a $499 scan and paid the balance when I arrived. You can choose to pay an additional $100 to have an explanation attached. You get an official radiologist interpretation either way, so I assume that someone breaks down the medicalese for you. I didn't opt for that. The scan was about what I expected it to be. I do have some concerns about the MRI tech. From a customer service standpoint, she was not at all welcoming and did not introduce herself. The office was obviously set up to be customer service oriented, with a coffee bar and drink refrigerator and cups of chocolates. She didn't offer any of the amenities and even tried to hide the bowl of chocolate behind her counter. From a patient safety perspective, she also did not make any effort to go through the screening questions that determine whether it's safe for you to have the MRI or not. MRIs are safe from a radiation standpoint, but can be really dangerous because there are incredibly powerful magnets involved. In fact, there was a recent highly publicized case of someone being killed in an MRI scanner. I filled out an online questionnaire, but if I had not understood the questions, and made a mistake, she didn't make any efforts to clarify it. But she did the scan and the machine made all the expected cacophony that MRI machines make. She sent me away with a CD of the images and I had an official interpretation in my email box about four hours later. I also had my orthopedist cousin review the images and the interpretation. He felt that the images are adequate (so it's not a "stripped down" version of a real scan) and the interpretation was thorough. It did leave out a lot of the technique that I'm used to seeing (I'm also a physician, but not orthopedist), but I'm sure that most of you don't care about that anyway. So my feeling is that the walk in MRI definitely can have a useful place. If you're anxious to have an answer and it's impacting your decision-making (mine was whether I could safely continue to play soccer despite the pain), and you're willing to pay for it (in my case, if I'd waited for insurance to approve it, it'd have been next year anyway, and probably would have cost more if I hadn't met my deductible yet). As a physician, I would *not* personally recommend the total body scans that they offer for people with no symptoms of any abnormality.

She provided music in my headphones and gave me updates through the process. I made my appointment with a rep. versus online, however, it appears either would have been more than sufficient. The website was very clear in scheduling appointments. No surprises, no medicalese....simple and fast. They gave me the disc when I left and I got my results by around noon! I'd recommend to anyone who needs this service. To be clear, without the contrast, you may not be able to catch miniscule injuries, HOWEVER, I was super surprised that they were able to pick up mine. Just ask your doctor for a order for a 99 dollar heart scan that is self pay at Northside or any Wellstar medical hospital. I've done it. Your insurance will also pay, but my doctor said it's actually cheaper to do the self pay. No high pitch sales presentations.

I didn't even know that was a thing! But the ortho I knew just from us both rounding at Emory convinced me he would be able to tell what was wrong. Unfortunately his horrible care and poor treatment plan left me no choice but to get the MRI. He of course ordered one but with my crap insurance plan it would have cost more out of pocket to pay for their facility rather than this place. $399 for an MRI! Now you have to consider deductibles because for some, it might make sense to use a place going through insurance. But for me this was my best option. In fact in hindsight I could have saved over $200 and not even gotten that horrible medical advice and just gotten the MRI myself. It would have circumvented a lot of BS I went through. You just go online, book your appointment and show up. Awesome! It was a very clean facility. They were punctual. The girl at the front desk was awesome!! She was so sweet and helpful. She was caring and just a great person to have to make you feel comfortable. She was empathetic as well. The MRI only took 20 minutes and I was in and out. Also, they have a 1.5 tesla machine for those who are interested. So the quality is good. And the read came back the same day. Also when the ortho called me he told me the same thing that was on the report so that gave me more confidence in their radiologist. Great option for some people, not everyone but it was a wonderful choice for me and they got me in quick too!

Since that was such a high deductible and the appointments at the hospital were so parsed, I decided to search for a private facility. After research and reviews, I chose this location. My experience was exceptional from the very first call with inquiries, to appointment availability, to check-in, to the tech who was warm, and accommodating. The only reason a star from the rating is because they didn't have the newer machine that pipes in music with surround sound headsets nor did they have warm blankets. Both of which I don't mind because the cost is kept lower by omitting things like that offered at the major hospitals.. The best part is instead of $1200 to Piedmont Hospital I paid $499 and got a copy of the imaging CD for my Dr.I will definitely be using this location for my medical imaging needs in the future. Scan centers in or nearby hospitals tend to be the most expensive and have cramped parking. That's where John's creek MRI comes in... This is a highly professional office from the front desk to the staff in back. Their appointments are set up through a centralized phone number and then the office staff will contact you if any issues arise before you appointment (issues meaning: your health insurance policy is giving them/you problems, that is sure to happen, but they work with you efficiently to handle the issues.) I was particularly impressed with how organized and hard-working the front office staff was... They were ready to answer any question and gave great customer service. My experience has been the opposite in many other places. A nice addition to the MRI scan room is the offer of headphones while you are trapped in the MRI machine. Those machines are exceptionally loud and the headphones are a great way to help drown out that noise. Just be sure to have a radio station in mind when they ask you what you would like to listen to ... (I sort of froze up because I think most Atlanta-based radio stations are total crap nowadays.) They have limited evening and weekend appointments if you wish. There is ample free parking in their private lot so you won't have to pay for the typical parking garage near a hospital. Good luck!
