I work a few blocks away and i had no heat in my car except when i went over 40 mph and needed an oil change. i thought it was got to be a big issue and was going to cost me big. it turned out the radiator just needed to be duly out and new anti freeze added. I was called before the work was done and right after. The owner was very nice and when i picked up my car he turned it on and within 2 minutes there was heat after sitting for about 2 hours, he wiped down the steering wheel and the door before he would let me touch the car. i highly recommend this shop. read more

Ok so first off let me say I usually don't review places unless I am unhappy and want people to avoid going some where. Well, I am reviewing Wond A Rama for just the opposite reason. With that said, I have maintained my cars and restored a few classics over the past 25 years, so you can say I am mechanically inclined. With that said I don't really have a go to mechanic bc all I ever really paid a Mechanic to do in the past is NYS inspections. Well life happens and I was unable to work on my car and was in need of some work prior to getting my car inspected. I brought the car in on recommendation of my girl friend, but did not tell them that at the point of service to feel out the shop. The owner was pleasant and we discussed what I believed it to be. He took the car in diagnosed the problem, it was what should have been an easy job made nearly impossible by the wonderful engineers as Chevy. When he called for authorization and to give me an estimate I asked his opinion on replacing another part as it was in the same location which is truly a pain in the but to get to. We both agreed although that part was also costly not having to replace it at a later time would probably be best. What impressed me about this is most mechanics would not want to replace the other part number one bc there was no additional labor hours incurred so all he made was his minimal mark up on the part and secondly now I won't be back in for a major repair when that part fails. The job was completed the same day and the price was extremely reasonable. It seems as I have found a mechanic for when I'm not able to work on my own vehicles. The guy who seemed to run the place was rude and brusque with my bf and I when we came to drop his car off for the annual inspection. He was very abrupt with us, and he made us feel inconvenient for coming over while he was on the phone. A simple "please hold for a moment" to the guy on the phone would have been nice, even a "I'll be with you in a moment" would have been welcomed. He was a little dickish and he made my bf and I feel unpleasant. The inspection took 45mins to an hr and it cost $37. The car came back dirty and sticky. The inspection sticker was upside down...How do you place the inspection sticker upside down? I 'd only gave this place 2 stars because they got the job done in decent time, and because I have limited experience with car service places. I was getting ready to leave a meeting in Valley Stream and happened to see my tire looked a little low in air. Filled it up and discovered it leaking still. Wond-a-rama has hours 7 days a week, decent prices and quick repair times. I feel comfortable bringing my car there to be repaired without always being pushed to buy more. It seems they only reccomend repairs when they are necessary which is a breath of fresh air. read more

Not sure where these good reviews are coming from. Everyone there feels unapproachable and bothered by you just walking up to them. Went to get my winter tires mounted, they never even offered to give me my old tires back, they put one wheel on the wrong side (i had 2 black wheels on one side, 2 silver on the other) so now I have one black and one silver wheel on both sides. To top it off, I was charged 95 including taxes for a mount and balance but i'm 90% sure the balance was never done because the steering wheel shakes so much! read more

I was self-employed for 20 years in the Five Towns and learned that customer service is the best advertising. Wond-A-Rama epitomizes that ethic. Last week I came to Edward with a unique problem. I explained to him that my wife is home and hysterically crying. It was a million to one shot but her engagement ring fell into the slot next to the emergency brake of our Ford Escape. I took my 2014 Toyota in for a recall to the dealer. It had 21,000 miles. While I was there they told me I needed brakes. I didn't have the time that day. A few days later I took it where my cousin has been raving about for years for the brakes. I was quoted 30% less than the price I was quoted by the dealer. They took all my wheels off and told me I did not need brakes, and then proceeded to show me that I didn't need brakes. When I asked what I owed them they said no charge. What prompted me to write the review was what happened next. I returned last week which was 2 months after the initial brake check. I needed a signal bulb on the right side. They had it in stock and put it in for me. It took a few minutes. When I asked what I owed them they told me they don't charge for those things. I can't believe this place its just unbelievable.
