I was out of town and my daughter called me to inform me that not only did my car need a an oil change, headlight replaced, and a tire plugged, but that when she got back into the car to drive it to John's, it would not start!!! John's spoke with my daughter, reassured her that they would take care of everything and they did so quickly and efficiently, as always, with the utmost of professionalism, and without overcharging me. Other places would have taken advantage of the situation and the fact that I was not home to bring my car in myself, but not John's. As always, their prices were incredibly reasonable!!! Brought my car in for an inspection. when going back to my car after paying I notice the REGISTRATION sticker OFF the windshield. Yes, it is hot, 100 degrees outside, however when I brought the car in the sticker was connected to the windshield and the sticker is the same from the DMV, nothing to do with my particular car. Am I wrong in expecting at LEAST for them to take some tape and tape it back on the windshield, or AT LEAST let the customer know sorry when taking off the inspection sticker by mistake the registration sticker was scraped and due to the heat came off. (besides pieces of the old inspection sticker were left on the dashboard, not very professional) Where is the service for me to get to my car and just see the sticker off?? don't know if it's off the windshield, they can ticket you for that. NOT very business-like at all!! Few years ago, brought a different car in for whatever reason and after few days of them telling me they are looking at it, go on the lot and see my back window opened while it was raining, ask them why the window is opened while it's raining?? oh, it's broken, WHAT?? it was working fine and closed when I brought it in!!! I went to get a New York City inspection in my car fairly simple thing normally takes about 15 minutes. He tells me it's 30 minutes I say OK I end up waiting an hour so whatever time he tells you just double it. When I complained about the length of time for a short procedure, he gaslights me and tells me I should be grateful he didn't charge me a full hour. then, when it's time for me to pay, I see he charge me for changing my windshield wipers, which he didn't tell me about prior to doing it. My experience with Johns automotive was FANTASTIC. The service they offered was above and beyond. While driving from Manhattan my car's throttle gave out and I couldn't get the car to go over 2O miles an hour and it kept puttering out. It was Friday night almost 5:00 on Memorial day weekend and my sister googled and found Johns had great reviews. soon after I arrived at the garage I called Uber to pick me up since I was informed by several people that this was a big job and they would need to order parts. One of the men was instructed to take my car for a test drive and it took him a while to come back. I assumed he broke down but we he returned he informed me he fixed my car and it was completely OK! He said, they reset the electronics. I was thrilled to have my car for Memorial day weekend but what is more amazing is that they didn't charge me ANYTHING! Wow. I offered him a decent amout of cash and he wouldn't take it! Another garage could have ordered parts, kept the car and charged a big fee and I would have never known. Crooks! I went in for an inspection and was told I needed new brake pads. "No new brake pads no inspection". My car is 1 1/2 years old with 20k miles, I found it very suspicious, took my keys and left! Brought it right over to another shop and they told me my brake pads were fine. I came in with my car, john didn't look like he was interested in my business. It's not like he actually looks at the cars himself and diagnoses it or repairs it himself. He has workers that do all the work, how does he even know they do the right thing on the car? Anyways john only takes calls and collects the money it seems which is fine bc it is his shop. I just didn't like that as soon as his workers took my car around the block they worsened the cars condition and he didn't even want to deal with it. I had my car towed to another mechanic who's dealing with my car now. I really don't recommend this shop. I don't even want to put a star. read more

The shop even held my car an extra day after it was ready. Unfortunately the ABS light appeared again, but without hesitation John's Auto Repair let me come in the same day and get it reviewed. Once again, my car was ready after fixing. Additionally, everyone was very polite and also recommended servers suggestions but never up sold repairs. I appreciate the service. I brought my Subaru Outback for a headlight replacement. The shop maintains social distancing and all employees wearing masks and gloves with signs to that effect all over .After the job was done ( which was done promptly) Jerson disinfected the entire area where he worked with alcohol from a spray bottle. Unfortunately since John sold a share of the shop and moved it across the street, it has become mismanaged and non responsive. Had a very poor experience 2 months ago. Scheduled for routine brakes and inspection. 3 days later and they call to tell me it's ready. turns out they had a very similar car and mine was not inspected and only two tires had brake pads replaced. 3 days! I get it, they are going through changes but the customer service component left a lot to be desired. read more

I came in here for a quick state inspection. Needless to say unlike the other reviewers I didn't see anything special about this place. The service as ok, minus the fact that i was ignored for about 10 minutes when I first walked in and the owner took a phone call while in the process of greeting me on his cell phone and walked away. This place is beyond horrible. I never ever leave bad reviews but this place really deserves it. Brought it in as a follow up to a repair where the heat stopped working as a result of the work they did. They promised it would be done as part of the original repair but charged me $400 anyway. To make matters FAR WORSE there is a large crack (torn leather) that they clearly made on the dashboard where they had to fix the heat. They are claiming the crack was already there and supposedly have before and after dated pictures to "prove it". Even if they did take before pictures (they didn't) why would someone take these pictures unless they anticipate an issue with the customer? I think they were hoping I wouldn't say anything and if I did show me the pictures and claim they were before and after pictures. This is the part that angers me the most - them making cosmetic damage then lying in my face. Do yourself a favor and stay away from these pathological liars. They lie, they deflect, they tell you "it was already broken" when I brought it in even if it wasn't... I am a very reasonable person and I try to find a mutually agreeable resolution at all times - I only leave bad reviews when the place really deserves it and this place really really does... The feel of this place is very clean and fun yet professional, you don't get that "grimy" feeling you sometimes get at auto shops. 2. There were a few customers already in the shop and I thought o would have to wait but as soon as I walked in he asked me what I needed, very good service. 3. The other customers seemed like regulars since they were very friendly with John (I think) and they all seemed to love this place and feel like his friend. I knew I would trust him right away. 4. Finally, I offered to pay for a more expensive job but he was very honest and said I didn't need it and instead charged me very little. I had 2 flats instead of the one he originally quoted me for and the price didn't even double. All in all a great experience especially since I was a little panicked.
