I ordered italian wedding soup to go. When I got back to work I am unsure what type of soup I had but it was not what I expected. Italian wedding soup has meatballs & pasta in it. This soup had ONE meatball and No pasta and some sort of shredded meat in it. The broth was like dirty dish water. People that I work with rave about this place but I was not impressed. My co-worker who orders from there all the time also ordered there chicken parm. It was awful and this is not normally the case. Maybe it was a fluke or someone new cooking. Tuesday 10-6-2015 was my first visit to the new Wonder Bar. I ordered my usual, their basic mushroom pizza, and it was perfect. To my palate it was identical to the old recipe. Correctly prepared (two temperature frying) fresh hand-cut fries were also perfect, and a nice surprise addition to the old menu. The interior was extensively freshened-up, much lighter and brighter, and emphasized the original tin ceiling and walls. Bartender Emily was friendly and professional, adding to a great experience! Was there last night to meet a friend who originally introduced me to the place. Bartender was really nice and was in the same business as my friend so made for some nice conversations. I love this place and will most likely use it this winter as my "go-to" place in Worcester. I like historic places with some antiquity and charm more than some new QSR joints that people seem to gravitate towards. Of course being an Executive Chef motivates me to go to more original locations as well. read more

We ordered 2 cheese pizzas for take out. Kinda pricey for the size of the pie. Liked the way it was cooked but the sauce isn't my favorite- weird aftertaste of spicy. My husband grew up in Worcester and says the pizza is exactly as he remembers, even now! My husband, daughter and I went and got two pizzas - cheese and sausage - both were delicious! They have a great selection of beer. The server was kind and attentive. The atmosphere is cozy and friendly. Was really happy they came back. Updated inside w a great bar and some big screen TV's. Basically the same menu as the past but the pie has better sauce this time around. One of the best (and only) Italian pies you can get in Worcester. Thumbs up. read more

Stopped in Saturday night. I had not been in since the renovations. Love the new decor and TV screens. Fries were delivered extremely fast and were delicious. The pizza was half meatball and pepperoni and although good it did not seems to measure up to previous ownership. The only thing that kept me from giving 5 stars. Being a lifelong Wonder Bar customer, I've been eagerly waiting for its re-launch. We were a party of five that arrived at 6PM last Friday evening. It was very busy and we were lucky to get right in. Those that were waiting outside were out there for at least 45 minutes. We were sat at the front window at a pub table that was clearly meant for four people. The evening sun was brightly shining through the window, which made it almost impossible to sit on the side of the table that faced the window. I needed to stand up in order to find a spot of shadow and wear my sunglasses to block the rays. **Tip for the owners-A little window blind or some light control on the front windows is desperately needed. I know it's only been a couple of weeks since the opening and maybe the menus haven't been delivered yet because they were reduced to simple computer print-outs. I usually don't care about such things but it did seem a little cheap. **Tip for the owners- your menu is part of your identity! Take pride in it. We ordered a round of drinks and the fried calamari with peppers for the table to share. They came out quickly, but the server didn't bother to provide any plates or silverware. There was a bowl of fried calamari sitting in the middle of the table that we were forced to pick on while we waited to get someone's attention. **Tip for the owners- Have your team act like a team. The person that delivered the calamari was not our waitress, but they should have seen they were delivering food to a table with no plates or silverware. He should have either fixed it or communicated to the waitress. He didn't say anything, but it was almost like "that's not my job". I'm a big fan of calamari and was a bit disappointed. The fried coating consistently fell off the somewhat oversized pieces to the point where most were uncoated by the time they reached your mouth. **Tip for the owners- find another recipe. I would be very hesitant to order them again. We ordered two pizzas, which we anticipated the most on this visit. The old WB had the absolute best pizza in the world and we couldn't wait to see if it survived the transfer of ownership. Another "team member" delivered two pies to a very crowded table and warned us they were incredibly hot. There was no room on the table so we all needed to lift our drinks to make room or risk getting burned. **Tip for the owners- bring back the things that elevate the pizza off the table- the old WB had them. Maybe they're in the basement somewhere! Not long after the pizza hit the table we noticed one of them had not been cut at all! Another miss by the runner who brought the pizzas to the table. We needed to flag someone down, which took some time, and she apologized and returned a few minutes later with a sliced, but slightly cooler, pizza. OK, the moment we have been waiting for- How's the pizza?!!? Remember, I have hundreds to WB pizzas under my belt. Well, it seems like they are working with the same recipe. The sauce and cheese tasted very familiar and the crust was extra thin and slightly charred-BUT- I have to say the dough didn't seem right. It wasn't as fresh and chewy as I remember. I'm guessing that they're not making their own dough or they're maybe freezing the pies ahead of time- I don't know. Something was not familiar about the dough and I can't put my finger on it. **Tip for the owners- bring the old owners back for a reality-check and do exactly what they say. In closing, maybe this is all getting-the-kinks-out of a new restaurant. Maybe things will get smoothed out over time. Maybe we'll get our old pizza back again. Only time will tell. Running a quality restaurant is different than making sandwiches. I'll be back, but it won't be for a few months. Hopefully they'll have it where the WB deserves to be. Otherwise it will be, sadly, my last time. read more

Let me start off by saying that I grew up going to the original Wonder Bar and so coming in to the "new" Wonder Bar was quite a different experience. If you're the same as me and knew the old one so well, do NOT expect to walk into a familiar place. I was with my dad (who also grew up with the old place as a sort of extension of our family), my husband & our 2 kids. When we first walked in, I was disappointed to see that it looked so drastically different from the original place. They did keep some things like the juke boxes on the wall at each booth, and the ugly tile in the bathroom lol, but for the most part it's really a totally new/different restaurant. The menu, printed on computer paper, was nowhere near the same was the old restaurant's - it's more pub food than pasta. My husband did get the pizza (mushrooms, sausage & peppers) and said it was "okay". Even though they tasted good, the mozzarella sticks we got for an app were falling apart on the plate they were served on......and my daughter's linguine was so overcooked it was like mush. The meatballs were alright but definitely not the "same recipe" as before. Not great. My dad & I both got sandwiches - my Chicken Parm one was okay with taste but the bottom of my bread was so soggy with marinara sauce I couldn't eat it. And my dad's meatball/sausage grinder was barely filled with meat. Weird. The only thing that really tasted great were the French fries! In & of itself, as a new restaurant it LOOKS beautiful inside - just isn't THE Wonder Bar anymore. Disappointing, but hopefully since they're a new entity they'll get their stuff together & be better as a whole soon! Good luck, Wonder Bar! You have big shoes to fill!! Absolutely delicious pizza. It comes only in one size, but is fine for two people who are hungry but not ravenous especially if they are having beer and an appetizer. We had the fried cheese ravioli which were good but not great. They have Worcester's Be Hoppy on tap which was a great pairing for the crunchy, chewy, yet not overly sweet pizza with onions and pepperoni. It was a GREAT, INEXPENSIVE meal. First time there. Service was horrible. Our waitress was very inattentive and never came back to the table to keep us informed on our order. We ordered fries and calamari for apps. It took forever for them to come out and when we finally got then they were soggy and not very good. The waitress did not bring a spoon for the soup and said she would be right back with it but them went and waited on other tables. We finally got another waitress to get us a spoon. We got pizza which we were very excited to try as the place is supposed to have great pizza . It came out and was very small and very greasy . Hi, 2 of us went to Wonder Bar today 2/28. It was terrible. The waitress came right over to inform us that they were out of Fried Clams, MAC-N-Cheese Balls, then came back and no Avacado Frjes. Then no Risitto Balls, then told us they were short staff, then offered us water, but never showed with it. All in all we paid our drinks and left. The pizza was delicious, the service was not as great! We sat at the bar on a Saturday night. The woman bartender was rude, she clearly didn't want to help us. We had to get her attention several times to place an order. She made time to check in with everyone around us, but didn't seem to care about our experience. Have been twice since this establishment reopened. Everything has been great. Service is friendly and attentive without being intrusive. Nice beer selection. Pizza is thin crust, but can still hold up under a number of toppings. The fries remind me of being at a carnival. Tried risotto balls as an appetizer special and those were delicious. Our bill was very reasonable when all was said and done compared to other shrewsbury street establishments. Can't wait to go back. read more

Lived in worcester for 30 years. Loved the old Wonder bar. When it changed hands gave it a chance. the Pizza is still great. Been here many times. They've expanded the menu but beware. I just left after ordering the clam roll. Cost 14$ and was almost completely french fries, a roll with 5 five clam pieces. This was after the chef was extolling how wonderful it was. Terribly disappointing. I felt bad complaining but thought the chef should know. It was the worst clam roll I have ever had. He offered me a free desert admitting that not many people order that item. I declined and left. Ill probably never go back read more
