During a recent visit to Vancouver I found myself in need of cleaning services and without much on Yelp I resorted to the dreaded "other sources" to find Townline Dry Cleaners. Said sources did provide access to a coupon good for 20% off. The establishment was a very old-school building and purports to have been operating in this capacity for 40+ years - generally a good sign. There was parking available and the intake process was pain free - I asked the price, proffered the coupon and was provided a revised total. We agreed upon a pick up time and I requested that the coupon be noted on the record. The difficulty came when I went to pick up my order. The nice woman who processed my drop off was nowhere to be seen - in her place was was a woman who I could easily see having a stint as a guard of political prisoners on her CV. She knew nothing of my discount and appeared insulted by the mere notion of the concept. I produced there very own website which showed the discount and she said "Nyet" I asked to speak to the manager - not there. She was obviously well versed in waiting and probably has a pretty amazing batting average when it comes to getting customers to cough up full price in a fit of frustration. When she saw I wasn't going to give in he responded with an offer of 10%. As people were queuing up behind me causing everyone a bit of stress, I settled for 15%. The irony is that they did a decent job, delivered on time and were conveniently located to people staying/working near YVR- albeit a bix expensive even considering the full value of the coupon. If it hadn't been for the surly woman who, even when faced with direct evidence, chose to provide intense customer disservice, this would have been a decent review.
