On a more recent occasion, I ordered a variety of pastries and the eclairs shell tasted the same, as if it was stored in the freezer for a while and they just add fresh filling when it's time to sell. The whip cream filling wasn't tasty. Disappointing. The sfoglia pastry was large, delicious and fresh. The lemon squares were tiny, fresh and tasty. The price for the size was ridiculous though. The cannoli's still taste delicious, this is the only thing I've had from here that's been consistent in quality over the years.

New review coming your way on Spring Basil, also in Alliston. We stopped by after our car was done. W O W!!! The place is very small but has delish baked goods , fresh home-baked breads (the butter tarts are literally to die for!) and a hot deli counter. As we waited in line, I watched with happy amazement how Rose (a.k.a. #8 in the line of Rocco's sisters) was the main entertainment with her vivacious, exhuberant, down-to-earth personality. She treated everyone, including us (a gay married couple) like we were the most beautiful people in the world. When it was our turn, my partner told Rose to go ahead and make whatever sandwich was her own personal favourite. Rose was so touched by this and was in her glory as she stuck a few pieces of fresh roasted porchetta in our hands to try so that was what she made us. The porchetta sandwiches are unbelievable. Rose added some of their own sauteed chipollini onions, home-made peppers and home-cooked marinara sauce to the sandwiches...amazing. What an eating experience! Thanks Rose (and Stephanie)...we are happy to be a part of your "family" now.

It was a nice day so we ate outside in a garden setting. I had the Clubhouse with home fries. The sandwich was exceptional. It had real chicken! The tomatoes were nice and ripe and tasty. And yes, you could find the bacon as people sometimes skimp on this. Yummy. The home fries was really fried potatoes medallions. This was greasy so had to use napkins to remove the excess grease. The others ordered the Peameal Bacon on a bun and the Mushroom omelet. I didn't try but they thoroughly enjoyed their meals also. This had a family run feel to the restaurant. It was a pleasant break to the walking. I would return.

The daily specials are clearly marked on the board and the array of vibrant ice cream tubs stare back as you battle your impulses. Just get a scoop! I was there with my partner for a quick snack and a scoop. There was a back bacon sandwich on the menu, which we decided to share. The woman who took the order (probably one of the owners) was very friendly and a wonderful host. She brought us the sandwich, cut in half, on separate plates - honestly felt like being in my aunt's house. The sandwich was delicious and just hit the spot! We got a couple of kiddie scoops and went on our way. I'll definitely stop by again when I am in the area.
