    Toasted Western with Home-fries

My mom and I were shopping at the Outlets near by and I had found this restaurant from reviews on Yelp so we gave it a try. They have quite a long list of options on the menu for breakfast and lunch. A lot of speciality French toast, waffles and pancake flavours to choose from. My mom repeatedly told me it was THE best breakfast she's had out at a restaurant in a very long time. And they have amazing home fries as well for a side option!

We were in the area doing a Marketplace pickup, so we decided to explore the area to see what the town had to offer! We came across "Hot Stacks Family Restaurant" and just like the yelp ratings, we were very impressed with the quality of the food! We both ordered breakfast items: I ordered a junior breakfast, and my husband ordered an omelette dish. Even though I ordered the 'junior' breakfast, with toast, eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes and one pancake, it was an overwhelming amount of food -- definitely not for juniors! And of course, the omelette dish was massive and delicious! The service was friendly, their strawberry jam is homemade (a bonus!) and they had Group of Seven paintings hung everywhere; it is definitely a homey establishment. Would I return? Most definitely, if I was in the area!

Unbelievable. Love to find these local gems. This place is slammed almost all hours of operation. Food is fresh, house made, and mostly local products. The lumber jack breakfast was massive and could be easily a 2 man portion. Fresh maple syrup. OMG. The kids had chicken tenders and burgers which they said we're really good. Highly recommend.

We were driving home from a ski trip and saw a road sign for this breakfast restaurant along the way. It was pretty full and their parking lot had just one spot when we arrived. It is much larger on the inside than it appears. We were seated right away and service was quick and friendly. They had a nice selection of herbal teas and we got our own pot for each of us and it was topped with hot water as needed. I had a plain omelet with home fries and gf toast. They actually had 3 options of gf toast!! Yay for them My son had the cinnamon apple French toast but said it was too sweet and filling so he only ate one and packed the rest. Hubby had the lumberjack breakfast consisting of 2 pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, home fries and toast. He could not finish it all either. We all enjoyed our meals and the cost was around $40. Handicap washroom on main floor and other washrooms downstairs. They were smelly and cramped....wish I didn't go there.

There are only two kinds of breakfast/brunch I will eat: (a) stuff I cannot make at home and will gladly pay a lot of money for someone else to (Hoof Cafe) (b) stuff I can make at home but it's good and cheap enough that I don't want to (The Lancer) Hot Stacks falls into category (b). The standard breakfast costs just $5.95. When our waitress came with my order, my eyes nearly bugged out of their sockets. The plate was loaded with the following: - 3 (three!) sunny side-up eggs with intensely orange, fresh yolks as perky as teenage boobies - 4 (four!) thick strips of bacon - a mound of home fries enough to feed an Irish family - 2 fat slices of very, very light rye toast, heavily buttered - a fruit kabob on the side because they're a little bit classy like that While the eggs and bacon were delicious, I found the potatoes too greasy and I couldn't finish them. Still, how can you complain with all that grub for $5.95? I tried a bite of sarah l's pancakes; they were as light and fluffy as a fleece Snuggie™. The banana bread French toast we ordered for the table had the moist texture of a luscious carrot cake with the added bonus of a griddled crust, sweetened with syrup. The service at Hot Stacks in genuinely friendly--the kind of refreshing, small-town friendly that makes the hour-long drive out worthwhile just to get away from the stank-faced jadedness of Toronto servers. Our waitress not only endured sarah l's excessively detailed order addendum, she also came outside without a jacket and happily took two photos of our group in front of their Hot Stacks sign. Awesome lady server, you are the best! Also, special mention goes to Chris P. for driving us all the way to Innisfil/Cookstown/Nowheresville even though he felt sick. Thanks, Chris P!

Have you eaten the best pancakes of your life? Are you sure? I can tell you that you haven't because you haven't been to Hot Stacks. The hot stacks here are light and fluffy with a soft crunchy exterior. At Hot Stacks you get good value for your money. For under $10 you get a heaping plate of food and a drink. There are an unlimited number of items on the menu and everything brought to the table will wow you. As our server Sarah commented, "The pancakes should be called 'Oh my god pancakes' because that's what everyone says when we bring them to the table". The service was great. Our server Sarah was genuine and friendly, and not in that "I'm really friendly because I want a big tip" sort of way. In addition to the table service, when we asked if she would take a picture of our group in front of the sign outside she gladly obliged. Talk about going above and beyond. Hot Stacks is definitely worth the hour or less drive from Toronto.

This restaurant has large portions for a fair price. The waffle is light and fluffy and I was pleasantly surprised with the amount of fresh fruit they top it with. They didn't ask how I would like my steak cooked but it came out medium well/well done. It was a bit tough for my taste but it was still delicious and these are the best home fries I've had by far. My husband enjoyed the Lumberjack breakfast as well. The staff is friendly and quick. The restaurant could use a renovation. The material on the benches is practically gone.

Going with the five star on this one! Came on a Saturday morning just before 10:30 and was pleasantly surprised to have found a table for two. A co-worker has continuously recommended this breakfast joint to me for a few months and I am beyond happy that I paid this joint a visit. Can't believe what I've been missing all along. You must try a pancake because they are so good. Although I am a waffle girl, these may have sold me on pancakes going forth. (Let's be real, they were good but I can't stray from my waffle-love... but they really were that good). I also had their eggs Florentine which was delish. Fruit on the side was fresh and crisp. The best part of my meal was the home fries. Wish I was having those for dinner right now actually. Their menu sports many, many options so I'm confident you'll find something to appease your taste buds. The best part is that their prices are affordable.

This is our favorite breakfast place(pit stop) whenever we head out North on 400. The taste/presentation is great, the portions are huge, service is fast and prices are very reasonable. No frills breakfast, plain and simple. But whatever they have they do it well. The half portion of pancakes has 3 of them and fully loaded :) I guess whoever said "Eat breakfast like a king...." had been here.

Huge portions, delicious food, great prices and friendly service!! What more can u ask for?? Ordered the lumberjack breakfast (3 eggs, 2 sausages, 2 bacon, roasted potatoes and 2 pancakes) and it was sOOOO good! Upgraded the pancakes to the banana chocolate chip and it was just heaven! I couldn't finish everything so next time I'll probably get the junior version. Would def recommend! Make sure to come early b/c line ups are out the door!!

Wonderful Breakfast joint! It has a mom and Papp home feeling that makes it look so inviting! The service is great and the food is even better. The prices are decent and the servings are huge! We ordered the Lumberjack Breakfast which comes with Sausage, Eggs, Pancakes, Bacon, and Homefries. You can easily tell that the cooks truly care about the quality of the food. This place is even better than Frans breakfast downtown! Worth the drive to cookstown for a yummy breakfast! You will not be disappointed!
