My mom and I were shopping at the Outlets near by and I had found this restaurant from reviews on Yelp so we gave it a try. They have quite a long list of options on the menu for breakfast and lunch. A lot of speciality French toast, waffles and pancake flavours to choose from. My mom repeatedly told me it was THE best breakfast she's had out at a restaurant in a very long time. We were in the area doing a Marketplace pickup, so we decided to explore the area to see what the town had to offer! We came across "Hot Stacks Family Restaurant" and just like the yelp ratings, we were very impressed with the quality of the food! We both ordered breakfast items: I ordered a junior breakfast, and my husband ordered an omelette dish. Even though I ordered the 'junior' breakfast, with toast, eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes and one pancake, it was an overwhelming amount of food -- definitely not for juniors! And of course, the omelette dish was massive and delicious! The service was friendly, their strawberry jam is homemade (a bonus!) and they had Group of Seven paintings hung everywhere; it is definitely a homey establishment. Would I return? We were driving home from a ski trip and saw a road sign for this breakfast restaurant along the way. It was pretty full and their parking lot had just one spot when we arrived. It is much larger on the inside than it appears. We were seated right away and service was quick and friendly. They had a nice selection of herbal teas and we got our own pot for each of us and it was topped with hot water as needed. I had a plain omelet with home fries and gf toast. They actually had 3 options of gf toast!! Yay for them My son had the cinnamon apple French toast but said it was too sweet and filling so he only ate one and packed the rest. Hubby had the lumberjack breakfast consisting of 2 pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, home fries and toast. He could not finish it all either. This place was awesome! Another great find on yelp. Was in town for a friends wedding and our group was starving. After a night of partying and drinking what's better than a great breakfast! Everything here was absolutely delicious. We had a party of 6 and it was a Sunday morning but we got seated right away. The staff was friendly everybody was very nice. And the food! O My The portions were awesome. Everything was prepared fresh n with love you can taste it. Amazing omelettes. Everyone at the table was happy. Great coffee. The pancakes literally everything we tried was good. With our toast they gave us some homemade strawberry Jam to try and man o man that was amazing. When our waitress came with my order, my eyes nearly bugged out of their sockets.The plate was loaded with the following: - 3 (three!) sunny side-up eggs with intensely orange, fresh yolks as perky as teenage boobies - 4 (four!) thick strips of bacon - a mound of home fries enough to feed an Irish family - 2 fat slices of very, very light rye toast, heavily buttered - a fruit kabob on the side because they're a little bit classy like that While the eggs and bacon were delicious, I found the potatoes too greasy and I couldn't finish them. Still, how can you complain with all that grub for $5.95? I tried a bite of sarah l's pancakes; they were as light and fluffy as a fleece Snuggie™. The banana bread French toast we ordered for the table had the moist texture of a luscious carrot cake with the added bonus of a griddled crust, sweetened with syrup. The service at Hot Stacks in genuinely friendly--the kind of refreshing, small-town friendly that makes the hour-long drive out worthwhile just to get away from the stank-faced jadedness of Toronto servers. The hot stacks here are light and fluffy with a soft crunchy exterior. At Hot Stacks you get good value for your money. For under $10 you get a heaping plate of food and a drink. There are an unlimited number of items on the menu and everything brought to the table will wow you. As our server Sarah commented, "The pancakes should be called 'Oh my god pancakes' because that's what everyone says when we bring them to the table". The service was great. Our server Sarah was genuine and friendly, and not in that "I'm really friendly because I want a big tip" sort of way. This restaurant has large portions for a fair price. The waffle is light and fluffy and I was pleasantly surprised with the amount of fresh fruit they top it with. They didn't ask how I would like my steak cooked but it came out medium well/well done. It was a bit tough for my taste but it was still delicious and these are the best home fries I've had by far. Going with the five star on this one! Came on a Saturday morning just before 10:30 and was pleasantly surprised to have found a table for two. A co-worker has continuously recommended this breakfast joint to me for a few months and I am beyond happy that I paid this joint a visit. Can't believe what I've been missing all along. You must try a pancake because they are so good. Although I am a waffle girl, these may have sold me on pancakes going forth. (Let's be real, they were good but I can't stray from my waffle-love... but they really were that good). I also had their eggs Florentine which was delish. Fruit on the side was fresh and crisp. You can't really go wrong with eggs, toast, home fries and coffee, you can however go right! The key to success has been fried up and served hot on every platter. Starting with the very affordable $4.95 for my eggs and plus ones, I was shocked to see not two but three farm fresh eggs crowded in by two potatoes worth of home fries, and flanked by a hefty skewer of daily fruit. While this plate was something I had seen before, the french toast was not. I just have four words...banana bread french toast. Bring on the hicks and farmers, if i could eat this every day I might even move to the burbs and sign away my independence. While both cakey and tasty, it was also light moist and stuffed with walnuts. Topped with hefty portions of fresh whip, and toasted bananas. It surely made my weekend. While I am not a meat eater, the bacon and sausage looked fresh and delicious, and the moans of pleasure floating around the table made me believe in love. I took away a star, due to the fact that my arteries are still chugging noticeably slower, and I love good food that doesn't depend solely on copious amounts of butter. I sit here writing this almost uncomfortably full, and I didn't even finish every lovely morsel. Bottom line...bring a couple friends for the ride and it is worth every minute. read more

Even the fake Hollandaise tastes good! After an agonizing fight with a huge menu, I ordered the Eggs Benny, even after being told that the Hollandaise is not scratch made. Normally, I would move on, but the server insisted it was a great tasting product. I agree, it had a nice flavour. However, the eggs were poached hard which is a sin for a Benny. The plate is massive, with a huge helping of potatoes that have a lot of flavour, rather than being just a bunch of boring fried carbs. I usually avoid the carbs, but I kept picking away at the potatoes. The pancakes are somewhat denser than others, but they are still good. One star shortfall for the lack of a scratch Hollandaise and overlooked eggs, but the meal was still great! The worst part is deciding what to eat--it all looks so good, and from what I can see, you probably won't go wrong with anything. I won't order the Benny again, but I can see myself stopping in many times for a tormenting variety of bountiful meals. read more

So we stumbled on this place a while back and fell in love. It is a family friendly breakfast/ lunch spot with one of the best breakfasts in the GTA and beyond. The friendly service and huge portions paired with the great prices and tasty food make for a pleasant experience. It is a cash only establishment, but they do have an ABM machine. Basically everything was pretty good but the pancakes. But when you call yourself 'Hot Stacks' and your pancakes are so awful, you are going to get a bad review. Atmosphere is good for kids, although if you have an easily distracted toddler, the giant ATM in the middle of the room can be a pain. Overall, decent, but not the best food I've had.
