I'm actually glad for that, because it means that my tax dollars aren't being spent on glitzy digs that are totally not necessary. I only wish that the Feds would use these savings to hire people with some empathy and friendlier attitudes. Our veterans, and our combat veterans in particular, deserve as much. My dad is a fan of the doctor here (I don't know her name), but the phlebotomist couldn't pass a true/false test with the answers in front of him. My dad's veins are all over the place, yet this dude couldn't "find one" without three sticks. Unacceptable. I have personally received better draws from kids who were just certified through high school CTE programs. Again, our veterans deserve better than bottom-of-the-barrel. Finally, while the folks at the desk have never been rude to my father, they have most certainly been apathetic. On more than one occasion, I have witnessed them stare at him when he walks up to the counter. After about 5-10 seconds they said "Yes?" It doesn't cost a cent to be kind. And, again... Our veterans deserve as much. Folks, many of our veterans have placed themselves in harm's way. I know a Yelp review about government employees doesn't really matter, since the Feds tend to hire people that would never be hired in the private sector. Still, my dad deserves much better. So do those men and women that I've seen come to the clinic under much physical duress. Call your state and federal reps. Enough is enough. The folks who are doing the hiring at VA clinics don't seem to care. And before anyone gets their bowels in an uproar about this review, please know that I've offered up more stars than the majority of reviewers here.

I waited for approx. 10 minutes while six feet away, behind the plastic barriers, three women sat and stared at a computer screen or talked on the phone. I was trying to check in and once someone acknowledged me, I answered the two questions and was told to sit in the waiting room for the doctor. The doctor's visit was uneventful. Although the doctor may need some medical help himself. He was constantly twitching and shaking. When the doctor told me I could leave, he told me to check out. Back in the reception area, I stood on one of the dots marked "Wait here" again. The some women were doing the same thing, only they had some additional VA workers standing behind them doing the same kind of nothing. After several minutes, I was noticed and called. The woman behind the plexiglass said that I didn't to check out. I left without expressing the anger I felt. I hear the clinic in Galveston is much better. The drive is longer but hopefully I won't have to be treated like I don't matter.

A nurse came by to get me with a wheelchair, checked my vitals, and took all the necessary x-rays. The doctor, Paul Reilly, seemed experienced and gave me good advice for rest and care. The whole visit took less than 20-30 minutes. This is a quick and affordable spot to get your urgent needs met.

Counselor called wanting to make arrangements to meet with her and myself. 30 minutes before scheduled meeting she canceled with the plan to switch to the next day 9 or 10 am, if she was unable to make it then another person would go in her place. Noon next day, still had not heard from anyone. Called and left a message. A WEEK later my call was returned. Amber came and was the first to actually help. She spent time with my daughter and earned a limited amount of trust. Plans were made to move my daughter into a facility for help, both mental and physical. A list of her current medications was required. Everything provided for intake and referral, EXCEPT paperwork allowing her to take her PAIN meds need after exiting the vehicle of the perpetrator while it was MOVING! The only option to gain access to her pain medication left was for her to pack up and leave! This was atrocious and negligent. If anything happens to her...legal avenues!
