This review has been a long time coming…read more When my child started attending this facility 5 years ago, when he was 7 weeks old. I was a first time mom, and had very little experience with daycares. They offered me 1/2 off, in exchange for working there. His tuition was deducted from my pay of $9 an hour. Now that I have more kids, and I've seen other places, I feel obligated to speak up about Green Bay Montessori. My biggest complaint has to be with the way they treat the non-moving infants. Unless your child is scheduled to eat, or have a diaper change, They will leave your immobile child to cry in their crib. Their small baby room is also incredibly hot!In the afternoon, the sun is beating through the windows. I've seen a 5 month old baby wrapped up in a fleece tie blanket, face covered, crying because she is so hot! I was told not to unwrap her, because that was the blanket her parents brought, but I picked her up anyways, and she was soaked in sweat. As far as the older children, it doesn't get any better. I have heard the teachers say HORRIBLE things to children as young as 3 years old! They use tones of voices that are bone chilling, and I was chastised for using a soft, kind voice, when talking to a child who is struggling to fall asleep. I have heard the lead teacher scream at a crying child, "You are not special". The toddler room isn't any better. When I was there, The lead teacher's daughter was in charge of that room. One day, an ambulance had to be called to that room. We were told to not tell anyone what had happened. The truth is, the 2 year old's arm was dislocated, because she was yanking his arm too hard. He wasn't going where she wanted him to, and she pulled his arm so hard, they had to call 911. As a very inexperienced, timid, first-time mom, this all was not enough to get me to leave. This last thing was the last straw. Something most parents are not aware of is: many of the teachers, including the head teacher, smoke like chimneys! They take breaks all day long, to go to their cars or the back of the school and smoke. They get the smoke into their clothes and hair, and then proceed to hold babies and small children. After we started going to this daycare, my son suddenly started experiencing symptoms of asthma. I took him to the pediatrician multiple times, and she was going to start him on medication. Then it dawned on me, and I brought up the smoking teachers. She said that could be the problem, and suggested that I pull him. I left that place without a second thought, and his breathing was back to normal within DAYS! I have since learned about the effects of 3rd-hand smoke inhalation, and know for a fact, that was the cause. There are probably many more things I could share, but it has been too long. If you are thinking of sending your child here, please reconsider. If the things above don't bother you, then you will love this school, but if they do, this is not the right fit for your family.

Ms. Vera is the kindest educator I have ever experienced. I was fortunate to chaperone a field trip to the Calatrava with the group. Ms. Vera had prepared the students to the point that, when they experienced the art, it was like visiting a dear friend. I am certain that the best gift you can give your child is a solid educational foundation, and they will benefit from attending Morningstar for the rest of their lives.
