Are you looking to have custom furniture made, well keep looking as this isn't the place for it. So I had ordered a custom made desk and paid exactly 8,376.80 and informed it would be a 1-2 month build period which was completely understandable but it was delivered 4 months later. It was supposed to be a large L shaped desk with a 2 inch thick slab for the top and a corner shelf on top and bottom for electronics or what ever I want to put on it. So after about 3 months of waiting (and helping him fix both his fork lifts, a back hoe, and other things as a discount towards future items...but he did pay me for my services a couple months later) my desk shows up with his employees. And let me tell you, while the top slab looks good...not great...but good, the top shelf didn't sit flat and rocked back and forth there are some huge ugly lag bolts visible on the sides of the 2 inch thick slab legs. The under side supports block half of one of the slots I wanted for my monitor stands and the general value of the desk is worth no where near the 8k+ that I paid. (No worries though I got a free wooden paddle with this purchase so that must make up for it) Upon watching his employees assembly it at my house, I'm also not confident I will be able to move it in the future and reassemble it without having to get new hardware to secure the legs and all with as the holes they go into probably won't survive another round of the massive lag bolts being reused due to power tools during installation. I was planning to get an entire house set, like dining room table, bed room set, coffee table, media center and end tables, but now I think my money will be better spent on Ikea furniture where I at least already understand what to expect when I get it home. read more

Kini's a semi sweet salty dog Bostonian slinging wood back in Waimanalo. He was prompt in returning my call. And when I showed up looking for an outdoor logo/address plaque that would withstand Monoa Valley weathering for my commercial space he was helpful. (Appreciate meeting fellow East-Coasters). Took me for a ride of the golf cart; cause it was damn hot. Me and my not so little "Toto" 55lbs of canine jumped on the buggy toward the workshop and we chose the slab together. He gave me time to think about it by offering Kombucha! Around the way is Sky Kombucha facilities where you can pour yourself draft pints on the honor system. He got my raw slab sanded while we waited and enjoyed the scenery. Top notch service. Sassy man. Great quality wood plus much more. I was only looking a for a small slab and this was the place to get it. I was sent around town by my graphics people; who will end up engraving. They referred me to places like Pacific American Lumber, but that spot is massive and not really appropriate for these smaller kine projects. Needless to say though, there is some amazing local wood furniture to be found here. Plenty of selection and ability for customization. Mahalo Kini! Thru friends' recommendations I found this hole in the wall of a place. Kini is a super friendly guy who helped me find what I asked for and showed me many beautiful pieces at his showrooms. I picked out an eight feet long dining table with blue resins displaying sea shells, sand, and hand carved turtle and a shark....what a gorgeous piece, it definitely reminds me of the good ole beach times in Hawaii. My kids were definitely thrilled and remarked how pretty table is and remain fascinated with all the sea life and beach decors in the blue resins. I absolutely Iove the blue wave mirror i picked out at a whim, I can envision us looking at it everyday to check our hairs just before we head out of the house and it beams back our big smiles. I also picked out a card/tea table with matching chairs. Another piece to be treasured by our family for decades to come. Thanks to Kini, we are taking lots of fond memories with us in these gorgeous furnitures! Hawaii will always be in our hearts and in our home! read more

LOVE our table. We found Kini from his store front in Kailua, but the big show room is in Waimanalo. The Waimanalo shop has a few lime green signs to point you in the right direction, but is mostly secluded from curb view. Kini was great with entertaining our toddler while we picked the perfect coffee table for us. Kini let our little boy see the horses, which was an unexpected treat for the little guy. It was a very pleasant experience...we wouldn't consider buying tropical wood from anyone else. read more

We purchased our table at the end of time in Hawaii. Kini gave us a tour of his operation from start to finish. Really cool to see all the hard work and detail that goes into their products. We were able to pick out a monkey pod slab that was cut but unfinished. Kini had it made and finished in time for our movers to pick up before shipping to the mainland. He made two custom benches for one side of our table since it has a unique shape to it. We cannot wait to get it into our new house on the mainland! We will update with pictures when we get it set up. We looked at a couple other places but settled on Wood Working Hawaii because of the selection, locally made and sourced, and the quality. In a great location with views and horses for the kids to feed. This is one of those places that you should visit just to look around at the artwork and furniture and see how it is made! read more

Kini and his gang our out of this world! Super humble, super service and absolutely excellent work. I ordered a King bed frame to replace my 4 post bed. At first I was a little skeptical about replacing it as I loved my old frame; however it was time. After searching through many places and options, I took a chance and head out to quiet town Waimānalo to take a look at Kini's shop. He accommodated me on a weekend and the shop was as humble and kind as he was. Talk about maintaining quality over quantity! I cannot be more pleased with the outcome. It was well worth the wait. I paid for a dining table and 2 chairs to be built, but it was a huge mistake. The table delivered was not made from the wood I selected and the chairs were of lesser quality than what's in the store. The chair's back support was uneven with a huge notch cut out of one side; the 2 back legs were 2" wide and the 2 front legs were only 1 1/4"; and the base supporting the seat was bamboo veneer and not monkeypod. The bamboo had unfinished edges showing, and the front was not even with the sides. Kini was nice enough to switch the table to one more closely fitting what I originally ordered and fixed one of the chair's lop-sided legs, however he refused to change the uneven back support. I asked to exchange the chair, which he also refused because it was a special order. The website claims to give a free bench for each dining set and offers military discounts. I asked for both and got neither! Kini said the free bench was only for 10-seat dining tables, but when I got home I checked a quote from a few months ago for a similar sized table at the same price in which he offered a free bench. His business card also states "free bench with dining table set". I consider this false advertising and not a place I would recommend doing business with as the quality of the work you might get is not what is represented in the store. read more
