I was disappointed to learn that the owner reportedly spoke in favor of removing a Pride flag at a local town meeting. As someone who values inclusion and visibility for LGBTQ+ community members, that position does not align with the kind of businesses I choose to support. Business owners are free to express their views, and community members are free to make informed decisions based on those views, but for me, advocating against a symbol that many people see as representing acceptance and belonging sends an exclusionary message. I can't support any business that is actively working against the LGBTQIA+ community or any marginalized group because it makes them feel uncomfortable. Lauren Read is one of those people. They went to the extent of going to a Town Board meeting for the pettiest, most hateful of reasons- to advocate to have the Pride flag removed from the Webster Town Hall.
