It's literally in the middle of nowhere, which adds to its charm, but does make it slightly more awkward for wedding guests who aren't staying in a lodge on site. The views from the bar, the room the marriage takes place in, and the function suite are incredible - out over the fishing lake and into the trees too. Beautiful on a lovely sunny day! Downside - Kingennie is used for fishing, so during the ceremony, the occasional fisherman (& quad biker) went past the window behind the bride and groom... Slightly distracting! You'd think they could maybe restrict movement there for an hour or so during the ceremony! The bar prices were very reasonable for a wedding, and the food was lovely (especially the samosas at evening time - yum yum!), and the toilets were spotless. Downstairs in the restaurant, there was a corner filled with kids toys, ideal for the children in our group... And the adults too! Definitely a lovely wedding venue and a lovely place for a day out, once you find it!

We arrived at 7pm for our £54 room. Great value. The guy on the desk was a really nice guy and welcomed us to the hotel and covered any questions we may have had. He also mentioned the goodnight guarantee. The room was spacious with a sofa and a nice comfy bed. Two extra pillows were supplied on top of the wardrobe just in case. I need two pillows so this was great. Coffee and tea facilities were provided as well as a hairdryer and a TV with digital Freeview. This meant I could watch the last in the series of Celebrity Juice chilled out in bed. In the morning, we handed back the key and was asked if everything was satisfactory. Of course it was and I would recommend anyone visiting the area to check out The Premier Inn for a comfortable base to explore.

I hadn't visited a Weatherspoon for quite a long time, but my previous experiences of eating in them had always been pretty poor, amazingly cheap but rubbish quality. The decor was as I would expect, adequate but soulless. I was however immediately impressed by the new menu design and options. The prices were all still incredibly cheap so although the menu appealed to me I didn't hold any high hopes! I went for a gourmet burger, that came with fries, onion rings and a pint for a mere £6.99. The "free drink" choices were extensive so I was impressed with that alone. I also ordered a children's spag bol for my 1.5 year old son. The food arrived and I was immediately surprised by how good it looked. The giant burger stack was presented really well, the bun was fresh and lightly toasted, the burger was thick and juicy. I couldn't quite believe my eyes or taste buds! Now for £6.99 I have no doubt in my mind these weren't the finest ingredients (quite possibly even horse), but I didn't actually care as it tasted great. My son also wolfed down almost all of his meal and the bit I tried was not the bland tasteless sauce I was expecting, but flavorsome and meaty. If you haven't tried a Weatherspoon in a while and want a cheap meal out then I can't recommend enough for value for money!

A cute idea, putting ice cream and whipped cream in a cup and then on the side you've got a little cup to poor meted chocolate over it. I would have preferred a smaller serving. The other one in the company had "etton mess" like meringue with strawberry coulis. - The waitresses was nice and friendly. - The restaurant itself could get a lift up. Happy is the Theme…read more In a leafy Monifieth, on the banks of Brought Ferry, The Milton Inn is a contemporary pub with warm red walls, open log fires and is generally a happy place. And while on this happy theme, the service from the young staff is excellent, both friendly and efficient, reflecting what seems to be a happy team stuck in a happy place. Too much happy? No, just about right... The menu's varied, covering the usual pub favourites from fish and chips to roasts, as well as the likes of goats' cheese and tomato salad and chargrilled oriental duck, in addition to daily specials. The dishes are made in-house and include plenty of locally sourced ingredients. The bar stocks a range of Scottish real ales, periodically including Angus Ales and ales from the new Mòr brewery at Kellas, a full complement of Angus whiskies and a good wine list. There were a few grumbles from our table of 11 about food quality "steak pie lacking gravy" and "burger over salted with dry bun", but on the whole all seemed to enjoy their large platefuls, but maybe that's more to do with the good company and atmosphere? So I can't start swinging from the rafters, but saying that there are pros that suggest we'll be back...
