We had a great time for my adult $5 admission, and my two young children were free. My four year old, who is over the moon about dinosaurs these days, excitedly played in the sandbox downstairs, and completed the crafts in the craft room during Dino Days. He was full of questions about all of the dinosaur skeletons, the video upstairs, and wanted half the items in the gift shop. He and I talked about the dinosaur footprints, and compared them to his feet. He excitedly tromped around looking at everything. We really enjoyed our trip, and took advantage of the Dino Days experience. As we were the first into the room for the 3D movie downstairs, the man running the movie was very nice to start it over for us since it had just started. As the title screens were still appearing, several other groups entered the room, making it fortunate timing for all involved. We followed our visit with a trip to Pickles and Pottery around the corner, where I had my four year old paint his very own ceramic stegosaurus. He coated it in mottled paint gleefully, talking all the while about dinosaurs. A week later we were able to pick up the finished glossy piece. The Sherman Museum is a wonderful place to take children. The staff are friendly and helpful; visitors are welcomed to walk through at their leisure, and enjoy all the museum has to offer. If you're a fellow parent, you will appreciate this as kids are often on their own schedule, choosing to walk past one exhibit, then stand and stare at triceratops for ten minutes... then come back later and walk around triceratops for another ten just to take it all in. For weeks following our visit my four year old has not forgotten what a good time he had, and continues to ask on most days, "Mom, is it Dino Day yet?" I expect we will be making at least one more visit to the Sherman Museum before Dino Days are extinct.

We recently drove through Hagerman National Wildlife Refuge and did the self-guided audio tour…read moreavailable on their website. Entry to the refuge is completely free, and the tour was well-marked and easy to follow. The audio provided just the right amount of information to keep all of us -- parents and a 12-year-old -- engaged while driving. You can simply play the audio as you drive without needing to stop. The signage throughout the refuge is helpful for identifying different bird species. We didn't make it to the visitor center or explore any other areas this time, but we plan to on our next visit. If you're in the area and have a spare half-hour, we definitely recommend giving Hagerman a try!

A group of 4 adults and five kids ranging from 4 to 13, we all enjoyed this place more than we thought we would. When you look at at the website that does not do it justice, you go hmm interesting. You will leave thinking woah I coul spend more time here. You get your entry tickets in the main building and they give you a key and a map. You go out to a big fenced area and the building are set in a giant rectangular pattern and you can walk to them one by one. 5 cabins have lock that the key operates and you can go inside. The others have a glass door and a light switch outside which you can turn on and peer inside. They all have a little info plaque outside as well so you can learn about the history. This probably doesn't sound as interesting as it actually is to be there. The cabins you can go into really take your tour to another level. The whole setting is fantastic. Definitely make time to go here if you are in the area. It's about 45 minutes to go through the whole thing and entry is cheap..you can spend more time if you want as well. There is no limit.

It is tucked away, off the beaten path, on a beautifully kept property. There is convenient parking right next to the tasting room. You can choose to sit indoors or out on one of the patios - there are mini-golf holes on one and giant chess pieces on the other. When you enter the tasting room, everything is decorated with aviation items. It is super cute inside. Bathroom was clean. Service was great and staff was very friendly. The wine was terrific! We enjoyed tasting dry whites and reds and were extremely happy with all the wine. The reds were especially smooth and delicious. We also walked around outside a little before we left. There are vineyards and a large pond. You are able to get married here and there is another building to use for a reception. Definitely pay them a visit and try their wine. It's worth the drive!

(Not their fault) But they are competing for the loudest library award, for sure. I asked him to please keep down. He said 'Oh sure!' In a booming voice . He is sweet, but maybe doesn't get it? When you have 5 people on computers and two on laptops maybe... just maybe they are doing something very important. I mean, I don't know. I'm just a patron. Continue on... After my three previous lackluster library experiences in Texas...I'll admit...I did not have high…read morehopes for this library. But goodness, I was surprised! The clerks were friendly, helpful and informative...none of that snooty "can't bother to talk to you" attitude here. I was quickly assisted in getting a library card and the nice man gave me a tour of the facility. As homeschoolers, we utilize the public library system quite a bit. I was so happy to see that this county has an online system that let's you request books from other branches. JOY JOY JOY....the angels were singing in my head. What is such a standard library service in California is hard to find here in Texas. But the Grayson County Library System kicks butt and they get it done! So thank you Denison Library for being such a great place for my family to enjoy.
