That's a bummer as reading is fundamental and having a quiet place to work is also super important. I was here at the library for close to four hours (couldn't ignore my stomach any longer) pounding away at work emails, dialing in to Zoom calls and generally being productive. It was awesome to have a study room where I could make a little bit of noise that perhaps I couldn't have done if I was out in the main part of the library. They have lots of workstations here for people to browse the internet. Of course, the usual fiction, non-fiction, periodicals, reference and other library sections. There is a bargain bookstore and meeting rooms on the first floor, with study rooms, computers, and work areas on each floor. The library also has weekly and monthly meetups, activities, services that are helpful and supportive to the Memphis community.

We lived in Millington so we mostly went to our small, local library, but once in a while we would come here just for the experience. It is beautiful and well thought out. It's like an art exhibit or museum, and a library, the best of both worlds. The building is light and airy with lots of windows. As you come in, the walkway is engraved with beautiful patterns and quotes. Inside is colorful, with beautiful modern and historic displays. It is very busy, so prepare for a wait when checking out or needing services, but it's worth it. The only negatives I will say is that we had to get visitor cards and were limited on what and how much we could check out, because we didn't live in the Memphis city limits. (We're used to libraries being reciprocal within the same county in other states). Maybe this has changed since we lived there. We also had a couple of staff members who were rude, but everyone may have an off day. Visit and see this beautiful library for yourself!

The Memphis Flyer, Best Times, Prensa Latina, and Jewish community newspapers are also in the lobby. There's a help/checkout desk, study rooms, children's area, reading areas, and computers. I also liked that this library is next to a community center and a park for additional activities.

Visited this library for the first time yesterday, it's huge and absolutely beautiful! It has an…read moreextremely large selection of books and even a little coffee shop. It's got a section for teenagers and a large section for children in the basement that will make children feel like they've visited a special place, just for them. The staff was able to help us make library cards, which is easy, as long as you have copy of your ID on you and we were able to try out the computers and explore the books and find our first 3 (Limited to 3 the first time you check out, but 10 or 20 after that) books and are excited to read them and return them, so we can revisit and check out from this library again. This place is absolutely worth checking out and they also provide a lot of community activities you can get involved in and have a neat walking trail out front with statues of animals we want to walk down when the weather warms up.

This is a multi-million dollar library was built through donations. It's gorgeous. It looks like a museum. There's a coffee shop/cafe, a meeting room, genealogy room, public computers, free wifi, reading nook with a fireplace or outdoor terrace, huge teen and children's library, and numerous programs for all ages. The staff and volunteers are also friendly and helpful.
