The coffee shop had such a cozy vibe. A place you would love to remotely work. The staff was friendly and coffee came out quick. They have super cute swag that I almost gave into. Sadly my coffee was underwhelming. I ordered a honey latte and it had little flavor and tasted watered down. My fiance got a caramel macchiato and said it tasted good, so perhaps I just got a bad batch. Been to Woods Coffee in Everett and Bothell. The Bellingham one is not so different. Menu looks the same. They do have drive-thru, but I picked up the coffee from inside. The service is really good. It's very fast. Picked up a coffee and a sandwich, which hardly took 5 minutes. Plenty of seats available inside and outside. This place has got some character to it unlike the other 2 Woods coffee I visited. They have reserved parking as well. Overall - Super happy about the experience! read more

TLDR: Woods Coffee was a great experience! The baristas were knowledgeable about the coffee, brewing processes, and food items, as well as extremely friendly! They indulged my many questions and some pleasant chatter. The coffee was flavorful and well brewed / extracted to highlight the bean and roast characteristics (see below for details). Definitely worth a visit if you're in Bellingham, and worth an order if you're shopping for whole beans to brew at home! The Coffee Since they shared a parking lot with my hotel, I sampled a number of Woods' coffees while in town: Batch Brew: - Brown Bear is the darker roast. It has the characteristics one would expect - rich, earthy, full bodied; good balance of bitterness, lower acidity. Really enjoyable! - Woods Blend is the medium roast. It is noticeably more acidic than Brown Bear, but still mild vs. something like a washed Ethiopian or Geisha. The almond and cocoa stood out to me, with a bit of stone fruit. - The PNW Blend is a light roast. It's not always on batch brew, but I was lucky enough to find some fresh on a Sunday morning, right after opening. It was acidic, bright, and syrupy, with a bite to it! Really flavorful, nice sweetness. Get it when you can! Espresso: I was pleasantly surprised to find a medium roasted espresso blend at Woods! The resulting double shot was well balanced, with some acidity that complemented the sweetness (caramel, chocolate) well. Thick, rich and enjoyable! Try a double shot, neat. Blended (Mudslide): I think you know what to expect if you order a drink named "mudslide" ;) It was fantastic as a sweet treat! The sugar and other ingredients mostly obscured the coffee flavor, but I could still detect a little of it (I got the decaf). The Food I absolutely loved the Pumpkin Breakfast Cookie! In fact, I went back for a second one! It was filling, and not too sweet, with a satisfying crunch from the pumpkin seeds. The steel cut oats and flaxseed made it pretty dense - enough to count as my breakfast for the day. I also had the White Chocolate Raspberry Scone. It was super-sweet and decadent for a breakfast. If you order this, be ready to indulge in a sweet treat with your coffee! The Baristas The staff were so nice! They answered all my questions, knew their product offerings really well (we got technical too, with conversation ranging from sourcing to roasting to brew methods), and made great recommendations. They also allowed me to sample different batch brews before making my final decision. The Ambiance I really enjoyed the Woods Coffee cafe and roastery! It had a variety of tables that would accommodate studying, plenty of power options for devices, and a cool fireplace. The playlist was fresh indie/pop that contributed to the vibe. This is an awesome location, right along a nice long walking path. Was super busy on a Saturday morning. Had both indoor and outdoor seating, as well as a walk up counter outside which was convenient. Very friendly service and but overall was just ok for me due to everything being pretty expensive (almost felt like Starbucks menu and pricing hiding behind local branding) and a weak americano. Mine basically tasted like water...needed another shot in the 12 oz. We were toss up between coffee at hotel or stopping here and I left wishing we had gotten coffee at the hotel. We who live off of Lakeway (and by "we" I mean approximately sixteen bazillion residents of Bellingham) spent years wishing for a "gathering place" that didn't involve driving on the freeway and/or meeting someone at the Starbucks inside of Fred Meyer. Imagine how happy we were when Woods announced they were converting the old Lakeway Pizza Hut (and later Chinese buffet) building into...drumroll please...a coffee house! Now we Lakewayians have a cool place to hang out and drink delicious coffee, AND WE LOVE IT! The decor in here is really nice, very relaxing, with almost a cabin type of feel - with the rustic decor you will forget you're sitting mere feet away from one of the busier arterials in the Ham. And while they have a drive-through window (which, btw, opens at 4:30 a.m. if you're an earlybird like some of us) the cool people like to sit inside, order their drink in a "here mug" and enjoy either good conversation or free wi-fi while they sip away. Woods also offers a nice selection of pastries, my favorite of which is their Savory Twist, which tastes extra extra delish with a side of White Chocolate Mocha (approximate calories: 42,967). Lattes and tarts and bear claws...oh my!! I zip into the drive-thru on occasion before hopping on the freeway. The inside tends to be too noisy, maybe it's just the time of day I visited. Each location is unique but the quality is consistent. I also like supporting them being locally-owned and contribute substantially to the community via donations and fundraising events. I was addicted to the GF breakfast sandwiches for a while- delicious and the Greek yogurt parfaits. They even cleaned my card before handing it back.They were very busy, and I waited a couple minutes with only one person in front of me inside. I had a decaf americano which was excellent and one of the breakfast wraps, also good and reasonably affordable. They have ceramic dishes/mugs to use if you are eating in, which I love (no need to waste a paper cup). Also if you're in the market, their branded items are beautiful - lots of mugs, sweatshirts, etc - some really nice options for yourself or for a gift! This is the best coffee shop ever. I wanted to stop in Bellingham to get gas and coffee on my way home from a drive from Canada. I popped in here and was really impressed by their giant machinery, it's really cool to see that they make their own coffee stuff from scratch. I ordered a chai latte, an avocado toast, and breakfast burrito. They asked if I wanted hot sauce or ketchup so I asked that they give me hot sauce and they had tapatio packets!! Wow! The drink was very well made and cinnamonier than some places. The avocado toast was SO GOOD. I've definitely made that at home before, but theirs was exceptionally delicious. The burrito was very delicious and hit the spot. I'm not a huge fan of breakfast sausage, but the sausages in the burrito were really good! Molly in particular was very helpful and did an amazing job with making our drinks. I even called back when I thought I had left something behind and she went above and beyond to check and see if I left it. You can really tell they care about branding here. The stuff they have for sale are really cute and appealing to buy, and have a strong PNW vibe. I really hope they open a store down in the Seattle area so I can visit more often because I really enjoyed my little visit and would love to be a regular! read more

I was looking for a great Frappe on my way back from BC and I stopped by in Bellingham. With my luck the first place was lacking ingredients so I kept driving and I found Woods. To my surprise they made a super excellent Mocha frappe. I try to avoid Starbucks because of the frappe inconsistency and I would say Woods is an excellent alternative. Will be back. read more

That whole intersection right there can get really messy during busy times and weekends and if you are in need of caffeine, the parking lot is awkward. Woods is definitely a Bellingham staple and this location is by far my favorite. The baristas are so friendly. I have had only great experiences and come here often. They also make a mean latte, perfect foam to milk ratio and they know what good foam is. Nice tiny bubbles make the foam velvety and blend nicely with the milk/espresso in a single sip. I have also received tips on how to better order my favorite drinks as to not be charged extra. I often get drinks without syrup to avoid sugar and had no idea that the way I ordered meant I was charged for syrups. Super helpful and genuinely nice staff. read more

Great spot just off the freeway for those who are passing through. The space is lovely! My hot chocolate was WAY too sweet, but everyone else in the family liked their drinks. Is zero stars an option? Ordered one drink via drive through. Handed the cashier a gift card (not sure how much was left on it) and my debit card. Cashier charged the full amount on my debit. I asked how much was left on the gift card. She was on a headset, and was clearly overwhelmed. She had to scan it (she didn't know it was a gift card) she said, "sorry, I thought it was a points card. " she handed it back, said "sorry" and closed the window. I sat there confused, another employee standing right next to her looked at me with a blank stare.....I drove away and won't be back. And for the $4.38 left on my gift card....someone will find it and hopefully get to use it. read more

Stopped in on our way south Sunday looking for a good cup of coffee. Walking in from the parking lot was a bit of a surprise. The side where the roaster is installed was described as the geeky side by the young man working the counter. The other section further in is where you get your latte or mocha. Being a home roaster we sat down on the geeky side for a pour over. The young man that waited on us was very knowledgeable and quite informative. For a straight up coffee, the Ethiopian and the Kenya coffees we ordered were terrific. Loved to see that they do a light roast that preserves the fruitiness and character of the variety. I wouldn't know how the coffee is here although my dad tells me that it is excellent. I come here for the great working environment and a giant redwood hot chocolate with whip cream. The staff is very friendly and they are really helpful. They have an assortment of hot beverages and a refrigerated section where they sell coca cola in the old-style bottles and juices. For food, there is a delicious assortment of goodies including pizza rolls and white chocolate scones along with quiches and sandwiches. The one downer is if you're counting on an outlet you need to look for one, each seat isn't guaranteed an outlet. Complimentary drip coffee with any beverage purchase. read more
