My daughter has absolutely loved attending Woodside West Preschool, and I cannot recommend them enough! After her previous preschool closed, we were fortunate to find Woodside West, and it has been one of the best decisions we've made. The teachers are incredible--kind, patient, supportive, and genuinely invested in each child's success. You can tell they truly care about the children and create a warm, welcoming environment where kids feel safe, loved, and encouraged to learn. One of the first things I noticed was how secure the campus is. The coded front gate gives me peace of mind every day, and the school's convenient location is an added bonus. My daughter came from a preschool that focused more on free outdoor play with very little structure. Since attending Woodside West, she has grown so much. The curriculum does a wonderful job preparing children for the transition to elementary school through tracing, hands-on learning activities, sensory play, and age-appropriate academics, while still making learning fun. The outdoor space is absolutely beautiful! The playground is large, well maintained, and has soft artificial turf with plenty of play structures for the kids to enjoy. During warmer weather, they also have water tables, sensory bins, and other engaging outdoor activities. And of course, Dance Friday is always a highlight of the week! You can truly see the passion the owner has for the school. Their dedication and years of experience shine through in every aspect of the program and the caring atmosphere they've created. I also recently learned they offer a Big Kids Club for school-age children during summer break, which is such a wonderful option for families. We are so grateful for everything Woodside West has done for our daughter. She has grown academically, socially, and emotionally, and she is excited to go to school every day. We have had the pleasure of being a part of the Woodside family for about 3+ years now. Our oldest started the program as a 2 year-old "Scooter" with Miss Jessica and is now about to wrap up his TK year with Miss Allison, and then move on to the big K! His younger brother has followed in his steps and is currently with Miss Jessica, keeping her on her toes. As our boys get older and continue to evolve, embracing their boy energy, the teachers really take the time to connect and find ways to communicate effectively with them (and us!). It really makes you feel like you're a giant parenting team. It's been the equivalent to having a second pair of mom hands. We absolutely love the teachers! Miss Jessica, Miss Mary, and Miss Allison have all been wonderful and instrumental to the growth in our boys. Diana has been a true gem of a business leader and we simply could not have done the early years without this incredible group of women. Both boys have thoroughly enjoyed their time there. Making friends and connections that I believe will last a long time. A value in itself. My two kids have been at Woodside West School for over seven years -- starting in preschool and now in after-school care, and I couldn't be happier. The teachers/caregivers truly know the kids, treat them like family, and create a warm, supportive environment. Preschool here gave my kids a strong social and academic start, and the after-school program keeps them engaged with homework help, fun activities, and plenty of play. Fraud. Negligent. Abuse. Yelled at me for comforting my child. Took away my child's water bottle during 92 degrees outside and refused any replacement, said the water fountain was available but broken so my child was severely dehydrated, yelled at, and neglected. Beware! read more

My two grandchildren love going to Woodside. I take them in they are met with smiles everyday. These ladies are so loving and caring. I feel totally at ease leaving them. I've gone in at different times during the day and the kids are all thriving. read more

My son attended this school from age 2-6. I loved all the teachers, and they really prepared him for elementary, in fact he was able to skip into 1st grade. I attribute a lot of this to the care/ learning experience he got at Woodside West. They really go above and beyond for the kids, to make special days/ have fun. My son was a student at WOODSIDE WEST in Santa Rosa for day care and for the regular school program (Kindergarten and Preschool). The life skills and the education he was given during his time there was exceptional. He is now in second grade at a local public school and the foundation that was given to him at Woodside West has given him the confidence to excel in his studies and be an involved, happy student. His teachers at Woodside West were caring, compassionate and fair and taught my son many social skills through their group activities and unique optional programs. All the instructors truly cared about him as an individual and challenged him to be his best everyday. His teachers communicated with us on a daily basis - the good things and the things that needed improvement and worked WITH us to ensure the best plan of action for OUR child. We felt involved with our child's education from the start of this program. Our son still talks about his friends, teachers and field trips from his early education years and is always eager to visit his Woodside West family again when he has the chance. One of his favorite programs that he could not wait to join at the school was the BIG KIDS CLUB Summer Program. The special trips to the local parks, movie houses and pools were the highlight of his summers because he could spend more time with his friends and their siblings and expand his social horizons. I love this school, I attended Woodside as a child and they definitely have a wonderful reputation throughout the years. I believe they have been in business 45 years and counting! Many of my friends and there children have attended. I am excited to announce that my son will also begin school there in November when he turns two! The teachers are professional and innovative with their lessons. The outdoor yards for the different grades were all redone and look great with age appropriate jungle gyms, AstroTurf, bikes and paths! We have been at WWS since November 2011 and we are just thrilled with the progress we have seen in our children's manners, behavior and academic abilities. We moved from a local parochial preschool because we were looking for more academic challenge for our children. Wow! We certainly go that and much, much more. My daughter who just turned 5 and will be starting kindergarten in the Fall is reading at a 2nd grade level. Ms. Dee the Junior K and K teacher is outstanding!! She is stern and expects the children to respect her, themselves and others. My daughter just cannot tell me enough how much she loves Ms. Dee. The projects, activities, field trips, she organizes are so great. You can tell she loves what she does and loves the children. Ms. Diana the director is also fantastic. I am able to call her or email her with any concerns (which I have had very few) and she is very responsive, sincerely wants to address my issue and NEVER makes me feel like I am being an overprotective, picky parent (which I am!). All of the teachers know my children (I also have a 3 year old there) and they are all friendly, have the perfect balance and character traits to work with small children and really care. As to the school itself, portions could use some updates. Coming from a more aesthetically pleasing preschool I thought this would be an issue for me but as I suspected I have come to learn looks can be deceiving. The newly built school we were at before although nurturing was simply not going to prepare my kids for elementary school. Isn't that the point of PRE-school? The kids could care less and despite the age of some of the buildings, the school is always clean and well maintained. We love, love, love WWS and this is coming from one picky mama. read more

This school is amazing! Our son started attending Woodside West as a "Scooter". The teacher helped us along with potty training and soon our son transitioned to their "Trains" program. He received great care and love from his teachers. Our son had speech difficulties. His teachers worked and helped him. The following year he was placed in their "Rocket" program. It was a Pre K program, but most of the skills he learned in that class were Kindergarten skills. My son moved onto elementary school well prepared and thrives in school. He now attends Woodside in their Big Kids Club. He is picked up by a staff member everyday from school like a parent would pick him up. He also attends during the summer. They keep him busy by doing arts and crafts, sports (they provide tennis lessons free of charge) and fun fieldtrips. They go to the movies and pool each week! This school has a lot of heart. Horrible experience at this school. I paid premium fees expecting top notch care and learning, however they failed to even teach my son how to write his name. As a parent who works 2 jobs I was paying a school to help me teach him the basics. Also, the parking is horrible, the lot is ONLY for employees, you as a paying customer must park in the shopping center next door & navigate a young child near a very busy road to the school or park on the busy road. Neither is desirable considering toddlers like to run away from you. Overall, I felt it was a dressed up daycare, not the learning facility they promote! read more

My daughter attended the Woodside Schools from Pre-K through the 3rd grade. She is now in her thirties. Observing how she has moved through life, I attribute a significant part of who she is, to her years at Woodside. As parents, we often don't know if the decisions we make are the best for our children as it can take years to see the ramifications. I firmly believe that my decision to enroll my daughter at Woodside was one of the best that I ever made for her. The qualities of compassion and excellence that the other reviewers write of were the cornerstone of what Diana's mother, Pat, instilled in the Woodside schools all those years ago. It is a testament to the school and to the directorship, that parents today are describing their experience in the same way that I would. My daughter was given the key to the world during those early years. The philosophy of caring for the whole child, instilling self esteem, and a love and curiosity of learning, all contributed to her foundation. Our 4yr old son has been attending Woodside West School for 2 years and we are extremely happy with the overall results. Before deciding on here we visited 4 schools in the area and we based our decision on the "academic plan" they had in place. We are very pleased with the result and we feel we made the right decision. We also liked the extra activities during the year such as the musical pageant, pumpkin patch visit, safari, thanksgiving fest and more. Additionally we loved the addition of Spanish speaking assistant teachers since our boy is bilingual. On a side note we never had any issues parking in front of the school or even on the adjacent shopping center parking lot, both are quick and safe. read more

Children are well loved here and they keep a home like atmosphere that isn't business like and void of life. Kids are encouraged to play, read, ask questions and have FUN! Kids are expected to be kids and learn respect, manners, how to be a good friend and why rules are important. The teachers here have been here for a long time and are truly saints for their patience and love that they have for our kids. Best head start for your children! read more

My nine year old son attended until he started kinder and my now 3-1/2 year old daughter attends. Love this school! A good combo of both school (am) and day care if needed (which we do). Both her first teacher (scooters class ) and now her trains teacher (trains) are amazing and super consistent (i.e. No turnover which is so common in early schools these days). Director has always been fab and readily available and in the know of all goings on. Can't say enough about the next class up either. Rockets class is what really turned my nine year old into a knowledge thirsty enthusiastic student! All staff are caring and great educators. read more

Didnt like this place. The owners seem money hungry. I heard a teacher got mad that a 3 year opd child threw her sandwhich in the trash, she made the child eat the sandwhich she threw away. The teachers reasoning was that there was no trash in the trash can, it was empty, just the bag. They had bad mays, bot even comfortable, they didnt even put down a sheet properly on the mats, and didnt sanitize the matts. Each kid didnt have their own personal mat either, they just passed out any mat to the kids. They had no cubbies either. The playground wasnt safe. Kids got hit by swings. The pre K teacher was mean too, too strict with the kids in my opninion. I wouldnt recommend this school. read more

I just registered my child for kindergarten and I couldn't feel more confident because of the foundation Woodside West has provided my child. The skills they learn in their Junior Kindergarten program is amazing. My child can not only write their first name, but their last names as well. My child knows all the letters in the alphabet as well as the sounds and is starting to read simple words. I know my little one will excel next year because of the wonderful experience they had at Woodside West. read more
