Camp Woodward's facilities are awesome. It's not for the faint of heart. There is a lottttt of freedom. My 11 year old had a ball-skateboard girl-but was in a cabin with 13-14 year olds. Food is like any other summer camp food-does the trick. It is pretty far from the hospital (45 minutes) and given the fact that's it's extreme sports-gives you a little pause-but with a wish and a prayer I sent her off. She lovedddd it. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. Who is running this place? We have sent our child to this camp for several summers prior, and for the most part, no complaints to warrant a review. Week 10 (summer 2021) was a nightmare!!! First, it was heavily advertised that Ryan Sheckler is the new skate program director and he would be attending weeks 10 and 11. Second, it was advertised last year, that the new skatepark would be open summer 2021, and for reasons unknown, that did not happen. We decided to push camp back to a late summer week this year so the chances of the new park being open were greater. Woodward then announced that week 10 would be the grand opening of the new skatepark. I'm sure these advertised announcements were the cause for the sharp increase in attendance but sadly, it was at the expense of the kids. The camp was overcrowded. Kids packed into cabins like sardines. Masks were NOT enforced whatsoever (unlike what your website proclaims). Kids were subject to very unsanitary conditions. The majority of staff were worn out, unmotivated and overlooked many disrespectful and bad behaviors by the kids. Ryan Sheckler? That's a big joke! The guy didn't show up until the day before camp ended and was basically there for autographs and pictures. No instruction with the kids, no Q & A's NOTHING! What a huge disappointment. A small portion of the new skatepark was opened the day before the camp ended but woodward portrayed on social media that the entire park was accessible. NOT TRUE! Another huge joke. My teenager that attended said that many kids were very upset that the week was so terrible and overcrowded and they're never returning to woodward again. We have spent a fortune sending our child to these camps yearly and this past week was an epic failure by those who were in charge. Woodward needs to step up and refund a portion of the money to the parents of the kids who attended week 10. The false advertising that Woodward put out to the public was SO misleading and not at all what happened. This is a direct reflection of the type of business this place has become. If I were Ryan Sheckler, I'd run the complete opposite direction of a partnership with Woodward. For those considering sending your kids to this camp, I'd highly advise that you check out the Instagram page, "Cancel Woodward" before investing a fortune in this place. You will see many disturbing images and videos on that page (I've attached a few of the pictures) regarding the going on's and unsanitary conditions the kids are subject to. I came across the Instagram page by accident when I was sitting at the airport on my way to pick up my teen from their nightmare week of camp. It was shocking to say the least. GET IT TOGETHER, WOODWARD!! You had a pretty decent reputation in the past, but you're headed for disaster and lawsuits. I'd highly recommend you make week 10 right to those that attended. read more

Fun and good for kids a lot of stuff loved it it has a lot of freedom my dog liked the sunset

My son loves this place. He went for 1 week last year. He did BMX. He is going for 3 weeks this year snd is so excited. I brought my daughters for the gymnastics program 17 yrs ago. They loved it too. They were only 6 & 8 at that time. The 6 yr old didn't want to go without me so I signed up to be a counselor for the week. It was so much fun. The only downside is dinner is at 5 pm and bed st 9. Young kids need a bed time snack so make sure to pack some or tell them to get a bowl of dry cereal from breakfast as a bed time snack for later. The kitchen is only open 3x breakfast, lunch, and dinner. This camp gets ex olympians to help coach their classes. It's a really great place to get some good coaching and have fun. read more

I went here growing up every summer for 3 years, then unfortunately I broke my back riding bikes... I still have been back 5 or 6 times with friends to photograph them riding or to just go back to take in the scene of more ramps than you'll ever see in one space. There is something truly magical about this place if you have ever rode bikes, skateboards or inline... It is paradise, and not just Amish paradise. If you have a kid that rides or skates, send them here and they will remember and cherish it for the rest of their life. read more

I sent both my children to Camp Woodward PA for week 2 this summer (2015). They had an amazing time. Both of them are competitive gymnasts and they learned a lot. They loved attending the open gyms which is where they got to pick which skills to work on. They both made lots of friends and really enjoyed all the other activities including high ropes course and go carts. They loved the water slide and the pool party each day. They both cannot wait to go back next year. My son really learned a lot of responsibility while at camp. He made sure he was at practice on time and helped some of the younger gymnasts. I was really impressed with how much he had grown in 1 week. I was also a cabin mom which was amazing. I had a cabin of gymnast girls and they were the best group ever. It was a lot of fun helping them throughout the week. I would absolutely do it again! read more

I don't skate, I've just been a betty for over fifteen years, but even I can tell Woodward is the bee's knees for action sports. Every winter a bunch of my old (as in born in the 70s and early 80s old, yikes!) friends and I go for a cold weather skateboarding retreat. I tag along for some quality reading and hangout relaxation time. I know, sounds weird, but I have a ton of fun. We always stay at the inn, and usually have it to ourselves. They offer free breakfast at the lodge every morning, and if you're like me and don't hurl your body at random chunks of wood, you can hang out in the lodge by the cozy fire and read a book. The people who run the place are super nice and helpful. read more

In October and November, you can go up here during the weekend and rent a room in their Lodge or cabins and use the park. I took my 14 year-old here for her birthday and she had a great time skateboarding. She met other kids and I was able to do some work and explore the local area while she's skateboarded. The indoor skateboard parks (3 of them) stayed open until 11 PM. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The Lodge accommodations were comfortable and clean. There's a hot tub outside still open in the fall, which was nice for a soak after my run. Its a beautiful valley. My kid plans to go back for summer camp. I hope to go back and explore some of the state forests with my mountain bike. read more

REALLY good people, and a REALLY awesome camp. (We have known one of the families that own Woodward Camp for over 10 years.) Skating, bmx, gymnastics, cheer, so many choices for activities, but also recreational stuff like "build your own skate board deck" and a digital photography lab, ropes course, horseback riding, swimming pool, etc. The campus is beautiful, and the people are great. Look on their website, google maps aerial views, and you really do have to see it to believe it. I agree with Cinna N. It's paradise! read more

This place is absolutely amazing! I'm hoping to return for my third summer for the cheer program this summer, and I cannot wait. When you get there it feels like a second home and there's so much stuff you can do in your free time when you're not tumbling or in mandatories. The price may seem expensive but when you get there and realize everything you get for the price you paid it's all worth it! I never had a thought in my mind that I could twist on floor until I went to Woodward and they got me to do a full on floor in less than a week! This is my favorite place on earth and it has become the best week of my life every summer :)) read more

Ahhh, Woodward. My son and I just retuned from our 5th year. It has become our Mecca every summer. He for the skateboarding program and I for the volunteer parent staff. I have so many things to say about this place and yet can't even think where to begin. Woodward has numerous programs: Skateboarding, BMX, Inline skating, scooter, snowboarding, gymnastics and cheer (and soon Mountain Biking). The facilities for each discipline are world class. The instructor are world class (and in many instances, literally, they are WORLD CLASS and rated so in the world). The staff and directors are so solid and concerned for the welfare and quality of programs for the kids. There is really nothing that I come away with that is negative. The kids that come into WW for the summer are given the opportunity to learn their sport but also they are given the chance to live within their own borders and decisions (they have no clue how many parental eyes are there keeping them safe). From the youngest campers (7) to the oldest (18). They come out at the end of the week better, not just as athletes but as humans. This past week, a young man (7) who's dad was also a parent volunteer, made the decision, by himself, to try out for the Mini-Mega ramp. The drop-ins for this ramp start at 25 feet and go up to 31. It is immense to me at 6'2". I cannot imagine what it looks like to a 3 foot tall, 7 year old. It was his decision on his own terms. He passed the test and was allowed to ride the biggest ramp in camp and possibly the east coast. The growth from that one choice is amazing. He was surrounded by positive people who gave him the freedom to choose and then given all the support necessary in a safe environment. This is where men and women are made. Not in the hovering of parents but in the ability to make a life choice and have the support of those around you (again, in a safe environment). This is only one of myriad stories. Woodward is special. It's our home-away from our home-away from home. My son lives for his week away and hopefully will be a Junior Counselor next year becoming part of the tradition of a storied and grand place where kids fly, independence is granted and celebrated, and lifelong friendships are made. I cannot say enough about this place. It's not perfect but perfection is overrated. My only complaint is that at some point my son will age out and I will not be able to go for my one week during the summer to see my WW family, skate poorly and enjoy the camp and the strange and wonderful town of Millheim PA. It will rank as one of the worst things that will ever happen to me. If you can send your kid, then you should. It will be one of the greatest times of their lives and they will talk about it forever. Once Woodward, always Woodward. Til next year I will continue to dream of shredding around the bowl and down the snake run. Only 358 days til we return. read more

do not send your child without a chaperone. This place is not friendly to in-escorted children. Also, they changed the rules for a refund 2 times to make sure we could not receive a refund for out daughter which we paid for 3 weeks, did not want to return. My son is a skateboarder and just finished his first week ever at Woodward. He had an amazing experience... Memories he will always look back on as such a great place that he had the chance to be part of!!! Lucky kid!! All the locals call it paradise and I saw why... A skateboarders dream! Camp Woodward is without a doubt the undisputed king of Action Sports camps. From the facilities to the programs, the visiting pros and top notch digital media studio- kids will get as much out of the experience as they are willing to learn. My son just got back from his 3rd year of skateboard camp, and for the third time called it the best week of his life. He loved his counselor Justin G who was cool, kind, and takes a special interest in all his campers. My son got injured several times and was well cared for. The nurses are great and take their jobs very seriously to make sure all the kids get their Meds. We took 2 boys with us, but they could only spend one week - the camp does a great job of arranging transportation back to the airport for kids flying alone. My only issue with the camp is the high cost which keeps so many kids from enjoying this experience. Everything at camp is pricey and my son ended up spending $400 in two weeks on food, snacks, coffee drinks, extra activities, etc. I had to reload his account twice so he could get the most out of it. The other complaint that the boys have us that they arent allowed to skate on the day of arrival, which means they only get 5 full days of skating, which for the cost, isnt very much. Otherwise, it has been a wonderful experience. read more

My eleven year old son attended Camp Woodward for skateboarding for the first time this summer. Oh, where to begin....He was so bitterly disappointed and so were we as parents. The morning sessions were lacking in the instruction that they promised. They simply went around to different skate spots with their councilor and cabin mates, but there was no instruction. Then from lunch until lights out at 10:30pm (way too late for my son!) there was absolutely nothing! No structure whatsoever, no planned activities, no guidance, nothing. A vast sea of 10 hours that my son had to navigate by himself. Most of my son's cabin mates just kept skating the whole time but my son got tired and sore with blisters on his feet from all the skating. Other activities were available but nothing scheduled and no one guided my 11 year old toward doing them. You needed complete self direction which I think is too much to ask of a child this age. The toilets broke, soda was unlimited, it was 16 kids to a small cabin, 3 bunks high. We picked my son up 2 days early because he was so unhappy and no one at camp Woodward even asked why we were leaving. My son's cabin councilor just waved from a distance. I would not recommend this camp to anyone who child is under 14. There just is not enough guidance or structure and it was a very stressful week for me as a parent to witness my son's disappointment and unhappiness. Just an update that the after I reached out to the camp about my disgruntlement they did refund me half of the fee. read more
