The staff who have been working here for years are always friendly, knowledgeable, and work around this shop like a well oiled machine. In pre-pandemic times, they would offer a free Christmas dinner in a cup where you could add everything including cranberry sauce and gravy and enjoy it while you wait for your order to come out. Their standards and quality are very low as they treat their employees very badly. So none of them really care about their job or quality control. Ever since I first had a taste of their pre-marinated meat, I knew it would be a lifelong partnership between us. A-1 started in England and was very successful, so much so that they opened one location in Vancouver and then another. With continued success they opened up a location in Brampton and have been hard sorting peeps out since. From the shop I or my peers will order multiple pounds of the following and proceed to BBQ it via indirect heat for upwards of 35-45min. This ensures that the chicken remains tender juicy and not dry and burnt/charred. Yellow Chicken Wings: This is my favourite marinade at A-1, it is stunningly sweet spicy and savory. Many a time have I eaten multiple pounds of these wings in one sitting, they are so good once you have one you can not stop. This meat is worthy of converting vegetarians. Red Chicken: You may be thinking tandoori but it's not exactly tandoori. I would say it definitely has some tandoori influence, but is definitely A-1's proprietary marinade. Effin' delicious. This chicken is typically available in drumstick, legs, breasts and wings. Red Fish: The fish they use is White Fish and it has the same rub as the chicken above. This item is borderline unreal and if you follow the indirect heating procedure you will ensure you get the most out of this fish. The key is to not overcook it and move it around too much, or the fish will break apart and become dry. Other than the above A-1 also has regular chicken, lamb and other meats for sale. The Brampton location typically has their Red Chicken drumsticks in a rotisserie throughout the day to satisfy patrons who can't wait until they get home to cook the chicken. Order a few pieces from the rotisserie and they will hit it up with garama masala, lemon and massive chunks of onion...Heavenly. The dudes that work at A-1 are very nice people and patient with you if you're a first timer. The prices are very reasonable for the quality and flavour of the meat, the storefront and atmosphere is approachable and clean, and their website is solid with great pics, pricing and even recipes. There were several prepared items you could buy: salads, samosa, pakora, beef patties, sausage rolls, chicken cutlets, baked potatoes, etc. There was nothing vegan and gf for me but hubby got beef patties, sausage rolls and chicken fingers (smaller version of cutlets). He heated them at home and both he and my son enjoyed them all. They even sold Cadbury Flake chocolate bars from England so of course that was purchased and enjoyed as well. They have a freezer section and lots more in the back of the store as well. This was a nice local find in port credit:)

Aesthetically, it's not much to write home about. The walls are decorated with the standard meat charts, and there are posters from the Royal Winter Fair, which the store appears to participate in on some level. The meat is good, thankfully. I tend to usually pick up a few things Euro-style, getting a half pound of bacon to take care of breakfasts to come and a BLT or two and a chicken breast for that night's stir fry. The shop also has a hot lunch counter, and it's got a lot of tasty stuff. You have to get there quick or you'll find it's run out of the tastiest items as local workers show up. And we all know to follow the locals to where the good food is. The wrap I picked up one day was a bit greasy, but grease is flavour. I've never done a turkey or cow order from them, but if you need to pick up a couple items from them they're a good shop.
