Service is always pretty good but if you want excellent above and beyond service, you're going to want to be served by Anton. For appetizers you can't go wrong with Raw oysters, calamari, cheese curds, crab dip , appy shrimp and sometimes our teen girls also get clams to start . I've tried their woodys burger, wraps you can get shrimp or chicken with any of the wing sauce. I've also had their comfort chicken , steak bites and fried chicken tacos which is pretty darn good! Their fries are one of the best fries I've ever had and you can ask for it to be spicy parm fries- shout out to the young looking server that told us about it (didn't catch his name) but he is also great! We came in for lunch on Saturday after hearing several recommendations and we were really excited to try this place for the first time. Unfortunately, it ended up being a pretty disappointing experience. When we arrived it wasn't busy at all. My husband ordered a cocktail and we ordered a few appetizers to share. Even though there didn't appear to be any other bar drinks being made, it still took about 15-20 minutes for his drink to come out. We were watching the bar area and neither bartender seemed to be doing anything, so we were confused about the delay. When our food arrived, our waitress noticed both of our drinks were empty and said she'd bring refills on her next "round" but she never came back until it was time for the check. The food itself was also disappointing. It took quite a while to come out and when it finally did, it felt rushed instead of cooked correctly. The volcano shrimp was delicious hot shrimp, but the sauce on it was ice cold, like it had just come out of the refrigerator making it not that appealing. The steamed shrimp were very overcooked and difficult to peel. The fried pickles and calamari were both undercooked, leaving them soggy instead of crispy. We really wanted to love this place, especially after hearing such good things, but we left disappointed. I called the restaurant twice now and was told a GM would return my call and no one has. Dive bar vibe with subpar service and ok food. I came on the weekend and I guess I was expecting a restaurant instead of a bar. The bar was definitely catering to regulars and most of the patrons look like they are there daily for their drinks. The bartenders and waitstaff are mainly made of good looking girls that are the main draw to regulars. There were enough TVs available to appease sports fans and there were some gaming machines on the other side of the bar. There is outdoor seating and I think it is mainly for smokers. The seating was mainly bar seating with a few available bench type tables. The actual reason why I came here was for the pork chops that I saw on the online menu which were unfortunately not available at this restaurant as the menu was changed recently. I ordered the fried cheese curds and a burger with a salad. The food was only ok and nothing to write home about. Service was mainly for the regulars as they were drinking more which added to their tabs. I ate my food and I was out of there, pretty disappointed. The bathrooms were kind of gross as well but I guess normal for a bar. I definitely don't recommend it here if you want to have a nice dinner. Pull up to this little gem on a Sunday afternoon!!! My waiter Anton was the best !! He was very polite and helpful with my food order. They have also have music and games to choose from and a full service bar!!! Walls are decorated with tvs and some nice art !!! She Crab soup was so creamy and delicious was full of crab meat definitely would be my go to 5/5 Bienville style oysters this was my first time trying a LA style oyster it was so yummy topped with sherry and a garlic cream sauce 5/5 !!!! Woody's Raw Bar & Grill is my favorite seafood spot in Chesapeake. The service here has always been stellar for my half dozen visits so far. The drinks are good, and the seafood is great. They have a dozen oysters here for like $15 and they are super fresh and they come with great accompaniments. I have also had the fried pickles, which were a tad salty. I have had a seafood tower which I ordered steamed. For $55 it was a steal. Also have had a salad. On all my visits I have ordered the oysters, because that is why I come here. There is an inside bar and outside seating on the water. Depending on the time of year, the water can have a little bit of a smell. Still, a fantastic spot for seafood in Chesapeake. We had such a wonderful experience at Woody's Bar and Grill! The staff was incredibly helpful with menu recommendations, and our server Sonny was an absolute gem. It's a great spot for families--our almost 2-year-old was kept happy with a kids' menu, crayons, and plenty of space to wiggle. She devoured her grilled cheese! My husband went with the cheeseburger and didn't leave a crumb. I had the Caesar salad and a cup of she crab soup--after attending the She Crab Soup Festival two years in a row, I can confidently say their soup holds its own against the winners. My wife and I stopped in for lunch. It's wasn't crowded as it was winter and bitterly cold outside. They do offer outdoor seating and I suspect it would be very nice during the warmer months. The bar was occupied by several locals and the waitstaff was very pleasant and professional. We had an order of the She Crab soup which was amazing. My wife had a salad and I ordered a buffalo chicken sandwich. The food arrived to the table hot and fresh. The ONLY complaint we would have is the temperature of the dinning room. There is ample parking but you might have a bit of a walk from the parking lot to the restaurant front entrance. They have many different flavors for their wings ranging from mild and sweet all the way to "call the fire department to put out the fire in my mouth!" I'm not kidding, their super hot sauce is exactly that, so be prepared. The service is good and their ticket times are pretty quick unless they are really busy, in which case, be prepared to wait a bit for your food to arrive. That should be expected. Decided to stop by for a quick bite to eat. When you walk in you get this local dive feel. There are two bar spaces that I saw, one inside and one outside. Both packed seats. TVs with football games, music is playing , and there was a live band setting up. So I would definitely say it's lively in there. Big Woody's is a sports bar and grill with multiple television screens displaying a variety of sports programming. They're doing a little remodelling but everything appeared neat and clean. The restaurant has a pretty large dining area with seating in the front and back sections with a full bar in the center. Dining is also available on their large waterfront outside deck overlooking the Great Bridge Locks on the Intracoastal Waterway. They are observing COVID-19 protocols including the wearing of masks, social distancing and sanitation. There is a hand sanitizer station located at the entrance to the restaurant. I hadn't been to Big Woody's for years but my office mates wanted to go out to lunch to honor our colleague who was moving out of the area. He selected Big Woody's so our group of ten arrived a little after noon on a Friday. The place was mostly empty so were seated quickly. Service was stellar throughout our visit even with other customers steadily arriving. Big Woody's claim to fame is their variety of delicious chicken wings which is what most in my party ordered. I wasn't in the mood for wings so I selected the Fish and Chips. My meal consisted of two hand-breaded pollock fillets served with french fries, coleslaw and a hush puppy. My meal was served in a basket which also had whipped butter, tartar sauce and ketchup. The fish was absolutely delicious, perfectly fried and really tasty. The fries were also delicious but the creamy-style coleslaw was just average. The hush puppy had the perfect texture and was very enjoyable. Everyone in my party really enjoyed their food and we had a very pleasant experience. The parking lot shared with the rest of the businesses of Island Wharf Center is not large and can get crowded but is adequate for the volume of business at this location. The lot shows some signs of aging but is well maintained and kept free of debris. Getting in and out the shopping center can be difficult with only one access point to and from the very busy Battlefield Boulevard which is five lanes wide. There is no traffic light so your best bet is usually to make a right turn even if that's not the direction you wish to travel. I enjoyed my four star experience at Big Woody's and I am sure I will not wait so long for my next visit. read more

My family and I visited Woody's today, Sunday, for an early dinner. When we got there, there were roughly 3 tables of customers. We were seated right away and got our drinks quickly. The server was friendly and prompt. But when we asked about appetizers, our server didn't come back to see if we wanted any for another 10 minutes. And after we had that and our main orders were put in, more issues came up. Every time we'd try to get her attention or see where she was, she was chatting with another employee. It didn't feel like we were a priority as the customers. One of my family members ordered the "comfort chicken" and the waitress said they were out of gravy but it would be out soon. Ok, so why not just wait until the gravy is done before delivering the food? It was only a few minutes later. Another person ordered a burger and while it was cooked well, it was virtually flavorless. The comfort chicken was also extremely bland and had to have a mound of salt and pepper added before any flavor could be detected. I ordered the wings and was pleased, so I'm mostly reporting for the other two people. Once we were done, we sat there for a while, waiting for the waitress to come with the check. Once she did, we waited another 10 mins for her to get it from us. We drove separately and while I and one other left, we noticed our server was chatting up by the host/hostess booth. The person paying said it took several more minutes after we left to finish paying the bill. Honestly, if it were a one time issue, I wouldn't write this extensive of a review. But it seems every time we've gone there, it's the same experience. Their cheese curds are excellent, the wings are great, and the ambience is quite nice.
