This is another staple in VB that I've visited many times before. They used to have an amazing brunch that's sadly discontinued :( so we decided to try them out for a nice casual dinner and the flavors were beyond what we could have hoped for. Our server was attentive and quick to help us find recommendations. We ordered their beer battered fish and chips that came out fresh and crispy! That's the best combo. The other entree we ordered was the black and bleu burger (I'm a huge bleu cheese lover) and the crumbles added the perfect contrast with the savory patty. Also, those sweet potato fries are to die for and I couldn't stop eating them! [[HIGHLIGHT]]We went on Friday when they had live music, so it created a nice cozy feel for really anyone that wants an enjoyable night out with some good eats![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Came here with higher hopes honestly. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a nice, chill location with modern vibes.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They weren't that busy but it took a while for us to be served. The food and drink menus aren't extensive by any means. When we finally got our food, the only thing hot was the kids meal. The fries are delicious! They do have happy hour.

We were at Union Alehouse recently for a friend's retirement party. The staff was very accommodating to help with setting everything up. The food was excellent and everyone had a great time here.

I stopped by Union Ale House on a Monday night because I had a craving for a really good burger and let me tell you, I am so glad I did. We were seated right away and I couldn't help but notice the rustic vibes and decor in this place, it was very nice. After looking over the menu, I was torn between the Elote Burger or the Whiskey Row Burger. The server mentioned that both were great but recommended the Whiskey Row Burger. All burgers are served either 'traditional' or 'smashed' so I chose the smashed option with Truffle Fries. As we waited, I ordered the Union Margarita which included fresh, squeezed orange juice and it was great! Once the burger arrived, I was shocked to see how big the 'smashed' patties were. The Whiskey Row included bourbon bacon jam and blue cheese crumbles on a brioche bun! It was absolutely delicious and the burger was cooked perfectly!!! The sweetness from the jam mixed with the saltiness of the blue cheese created the perfect combination. The truffle fries were good as well but I feel lacked the abundant, truffle flavor. I highly recommend stopping by Union Ale House to try their drinks and their amazing burgers! The staff was nice and checked on us to make sure we had everything we needed. They offer great, Happy Hour specials and have live music on the weekends. Definitely check them out!!!

Everything was amazing! We had a couple of beers, the nachos, and burgers. It was fresh and super flavorful. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant is clean and tastefully decorated/inviting.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The service was on point & we will definitely be back!

Yesterday evening was my 3rd visit to Union and they just keep getting better. If it wasn't such a drive for me, I'd probably be here weekly. Parking here is private lot and is a little tricky to access if you're eastbound on the Blvd. You'll have to turn onto Great Neck, turn into a shopping center and wind your way around to the restaurant. It's easy to access if you're heading west on the Blvd. Last night, it was just hubby and I, so we sat at the bar. It was a fairly quiet Sunday evening and it looked like half the restaurant was not in use, but the bar was lively. They had a few games on, which is always a plus for us. Of note, they have music bingo on Sunday evenings, which is a good opportunity to try to win a gift card. The bartender was engaging and super friendly. She had great recommendations for us. Hubby opted for steak tacos. He liked the flavor, but the portion size was more like a small tapas or non-shareable appetizer. There was plenty on the menu he wanted to try and will opt for something else next trip. I had the Med bowl with grilled chicken. This entree, on the other hand, was huge! I loved the pita wedges and the hummus was a great addition. All ingredients were really fresh and tasty. I've always had a good experience here and I look forward to returning!

Came back to give this place another try and asked about not filling the beer glass up and was told they have a two finger rule, where the glass is supposed to have "two fingers of foam" at the top. Honest question: Is that a real thing? I really want to like this place but I do not like paying for a pint and getting a smaller portion. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The food is decent and the ambience is nice, but if you are going out with a group for drinks, you may want to consider my experiences when choosing.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Stopped by for a burger and a beer to drown in my solitude. Had great service. Prompt, attentive and genuine. Only downside was some pretentious guy named Jeff kept whining about the hostess and the service being "special needs" because he couldn't get his group prompt service under 15 minutes on a special holiday. If it wasn't for some derogative guy whining off the bell about how the service wasn't up to par every couple minutes I'd have enjoyed what would've been quite a depressing day for me. Other than that, burger was damn heavenly. Beer was cold and good. Service was grand. Some people just ruin it for others. Great spot, great burger, good beer and good folks. B.W.

The last time I set foot inside their Pleasure House Rd location was at least 10 years ago. I celebrated my birthday there as my friends were kind enough to take me out. It was a Sunday morning and I sought out a place that offered brunch. I noticed 1608 was open and decided to head over, especially since I haven't visited them in ages. When I walked in, I noticed their dining room is dimly lit - much darker than I remember. I was greeted immediately by a kind hostess and she proceeded to sit me at a nearby table and provided me with menus (one food, one alcohol). I took my time looking over the food menu, and in the meantime I ordered a pint of Center of the Universe's Bald Irishman and a bottle of Boylan's Black Cherry soda (they do not have a soda fountain). What made this visit memorable was that 1608's bartender, Hunter, was an old acquaintance from back in my restaurant days. He spotted me and came over to say hi. After my meal, I continued to catch up with him at the bar. His presence made a pleasant experience even more fantastic. I thought I was hungry, so I ordered 2 dishes - Smoked Ham Fried Rice and the Breakfast Burrito. According to Hunter, every item is made fresh in house. After biting into each, you could tell that's true. Both the fried rice and burrito were delicious and boasted lots of flavor. Although I prefer my fried rice a bit simpler (if you give me just garlic fried rice, I am SET), 1608's fried rice (veggies, garlic, soy, basmati rice, 2 runny eggs, smoked ham) had a lot going on, which made for a flavorful dish. I liked the rice and the burrito (Korean style fried chicken breast, scrambled eggs, cilantro lime, cheddar, pico de gallo) a lot. I didn't finish either because it was a lot of food (I really thought I was hungry, haha). But these leftovers turned into a fantastic dinner later on. 1608 looked clean and organized, although I thought it was a little too dark inside, at least for brunch service. That's not a dealbreaker since everything from the food to the service was as excellent as I remember. I hope to return soon with my mom. Regardless, I'll find my way back eventually. Thank you, 1608 Crafthouse! And great seeing you again, Hunter! JV

I love corned Beef & Cabbage. Theirs was perfect. Served with whipped potatoes and whole carrots. I asked our server if the potatoes could be substituted for a double order of cabbage the next time and she said she was sure it could but may have a little extra charge. My Friend chose Jagerschnitzel. A German dish consisting of hand-flattened, fried pork loin, topped with onion and mushroom gravy. It was served with kraut, warm potato salad and green beans. She seemed pleased with her choice. Park Lane gives a welcoming vibe that makes me think of the old TV show Cheers. The kind of place that makes you feel like everyone knows your name. Sit at the bar, a high top table near the bar and watch The Big Game or take a seat on the other end of the restaurant and have a Family dinner or maybe a table for two. One piece of advice: arrive a little before Happy Hour begins at 3:00 p.m. If you wait until then, you'll likely find yourself several people deep in line. Don't let that discourage you. Embrace it, because once you're seated you'll quickly discover that the wait was well worth it. The food is delicious, the portions are generous, and the prices--especially during Happy Hour--are outstanding. The Atlantic specializes in oysters, and their Happy Hour runs daily from 3:00-6:00 p.m., including weekends. We began with a Chopped Caesar Salad ($9). Every ingredient was crisp, fresh, and flavorful--a simple dish executed exactly as it should be. Next came the oysters: a dozen Rockefeller and a dozen Pacific. The Rockefeller oysters were everything you would expect from this classic preparation--rich, savory, and baked beautifully. The Pacific oysters, however, completely stole the show. Each oyster was topped with a delicious combination of chorizo sausage, pepper jack cheese, and seasonings before being baked to perfection. They were bold, flavorful, and easily my favorite item of the afternoon. I also ordered the Double Stack Cheeseburger ($7), and what a terrific value. The burger arrived piping hot, loaded with melted cheese, and accompanied by a generous serving of crispy fries. It's hard to imagine finding a better burger at that price anywhere along the Oceanfront. My wife ordered the pork, shrimp, and kimchi dumplings served with a chili crunch and ponzu sauce that tied the entire dish together beautifully. She jokingly threatened to drink the remaining sauce after finishing the dumplings (she didn't), but she did convince me to dip one of my fries into it. She was absolutely right--it was fantastic. In fact, I now regret turning down the dumpling she generously offered me. Part of the fun of dining here is watching Shuck-Master Slim work. He's not only remarkably skilled but entertaining as well, adding a little personality to an already enjoyable experience. From the fresh seafood to the outstanding value and friendly atmosphere, this was another memorable visit to the Virginia Beach Oceanfront. If you haven't been to The Atlantic on Pacific, I highly recommend adding it to your list. You'll be glad you did, and you can rest assured that you're helping support one of our outstanding local restaurants.
