Unprofessional. They didn't show up when they agreed to show up (which is expected; many services don't) but, we had to contact them to confirm that they weren't coming. Then they showed up when we weren't expecting them--without confirming that this new date/time was appropiate (which, it wasn't)--and the most considerable issue was that they let themselves into our backyard (?? In what world would this ever be appropriate?). We have large dogs on the property and it's incredible that they did this considering the potential risks involved. read more

I hired Woolf Tree Service to remove two large trees on our property, a pine tree and a black walnut tree. I had three bids and Woolf was the highest; however, they were able to get us in quicker than the other two and they had a good reputation so we opted to go with them. Prior to their arrival I was informed by Jasmine at Woolf that Idaho Power would be out around 10 am to drop the power lines. Their crew showed up at about 8:30 am and I told them that Idaho Power had not yet been out. I also told them that we were planning on selling the black walnut and to cut as most advantageously as possibly, they were the experts, but that we did know that the pieces needed to be as long as possible, particularly the main part of the tree. They proceeded to cut both trees with the powers lines UP. I had to leave but did ask my husband to please ask if they would put the big trunk of the black walnut on the other side of the fence. My husband asked and was told that in spite of the fact that they had two very large trucks with booms they could not do that for us because they didn't have the equipment ... ???? When I came home I saw that they had chopped up the black walnut and cut the main part of the tree in two pieces, 13' and 6', the cuts were terrible and left at least another foot of the trunk that could be salvaged. I was very upset when I saw how they cut the tree because there was plenty of room for them to cut a 20' piece. I called Jasmine and explained to her that I was very upset and why. I advised that the tree was significantly less valuable the way they cut it and asked them to give us a discount on the fee for the black walnut. She said she would check with the foreman and get back to me right away. I waited for a return call all day and finally the next morning I called the office. Jasmine, with a very large sigh, answered the phone and said oh yes I was on her list. She then proceeded to tell me that the tree didn't have the value we thought because of a variety of things and that it didn't really matter how they cut the tree ..... then she proceeded to tell me that they couldn't drop that part of the tree in one piece because of the power lines .... the power lines that they didn't wait to have taken down ..... she told me that this was a bigger issue and that we needed to provide proof of the value of the tree, etc. etc., and that while she was willing to "work with me" it just wasn't what we thought. She was very negative and quite frankly rude. Whether the tree had the value we thought or not, WE ASKED FOR THE TREE TO BE CUT IN ONE PIECE. Regardless of the long list of excuses she gave me about the condition of the tree, they didn't wait for the power lines to be dropped like they were suppose to and cut the tree how they felt and did a horrible job of it. All I wanted was a little bit of a discount on that tree because of the decrease in value. VERY poor service, very rude, not helpful in any way. We could have paid less for both trees and got the same pathetic job and poor service for less money. If you have a tree that you feel has value, don't call Woolf Tree Service because all they will give you is excuses. read more

I hired Woolf Tree Service to take care of some fallen limbs and removal of branches after a storm at my rental property. The owner and I walked around the property and I stressed repeatedly that I wanted branches removed from the tree that were ready to fall out, along with the removal of a limb that was overhanging the garage and a pile of branches that were on the ground. I was told there was crew nearby and they would come by later that day to take care of them. Days later my renters called to say they hadn't come by, so I had to call and remind Woolf Tree that there was a job to be done that we had agreed upon. After they finally did come to do the work, they left a bunch of branches in the tree that were broken and just waiting to fall (my neighbor emailed me photos as I was out of town by that time) and that they had been there working for a total of fifteen minutes. When I called to talk to them about the invoice ($175) and the work that was done unsatisfactorily, I was informed that they did exactly what was on the quote (removal of one branch and clean up pile of branches) and I was basically shit out of luck. In the course my phone conversation with Vicki, it became clear there were multiple misunderstandings (they thought the neighbors had thrown the branches over the fence for them to clean up, which was not the case, etc) and that they were not going to offer to finish the job in spite of the fact that I repeatedly told Lynn (owner) during the walk-through that I wanted everything that was in danger of falling removed (wouldn't common sense dictate broken branches hanging by a thread be included in that statement? Evidently not). He has a very easy-going, laissez faire attitude, and I was concerned at the time his quote wasn't detailed or thorough, but figured he was a professional and I wouldn't have anything to worry about. This is the first time I've had to hire a tree service; shame on me for believing that everything we spoke about would be taken care of, and for not insisting the quote he gave me be more thoroughly detailed. I have no problem paying for good work, and paying for work that we agreed upon, however, I'm very disappointed in their services and the response I received when bringing to their attention their failure to complete the job. My advice: shop around, get a thoroughly detailed quote, and insist on being present while the work is being done. I declined to be present as they had already mis-set my expectations as to when they'd be there the first time, so didn't want to spend half a day waiting around for them to show up (or not). I had hoped to use them this Fall for work around the rest of the property, but will not use their services in the future if they are incapable of following through on the work agreed upon. read more

Originally scheduled to remove a tree last Friday at 7:30 AM. My wife and I made sure we were ready and set aside that entire morning to be home during the excavation. No one ever showed up... and no one called. Rescheduled for yesterday between 12 and 2. Crew showed up after 2:00 and suddenly decided they didn't want to do the job as they reportedly had already done five jobs that day. One of the most surreal customer service moments I've ever witnessed. Not a particularly high-functioning group of people. Have to babysit them through out the process. read more

We called Wolf Tree Service to "chase roots" in our yard last fall. We met with a company representative and walked the yard. He said they could handle the job for $295 and asked us to mark the roots. We marked the roots the next day. Sometime that week we noticed they had completed some of the job but not all. We called the company and asked that they return to finish. Almost a month later they called and said "mark the roots again and we will come back out". Long story short, they never made it back before the snow arrived. In the Spring they called again (2 or 3 times) to say "mark the roots again and we'll come out" - I have copies of the voicemails. We marked the roots each time. Then a few weeks ago we got a nasty message from Vicky saying we never returned their calls and they want us to pay our bill. I returned her call, explained the situation and we were told to mark the roots again. We did. They did finally come out and removed two of the marked roots - completely ignored one section of the yard - left an invoice (due in 30 days)at the door with no conversation , and then followed up 7 days later with a threat to send us to collection for not paying our bill. Terrible Service. We have paid the bill, but please be aware and Do not do business with this company. read more
