We wanted to check it out and see if maybe it'd be a good fit for middle school (we had all intentions of finishing elementary at our local elementary school). We were so impressed with how individualized everything is, and how small the groups were. After the tour, we decided that we'd finish the year at our school, and transfer to IDEA House for 5th grade and beyond. Our son is absolutely thriving under the care of Mrs. Shumate and the staff. They all care immensely for their students, and it shows. Our youngest just started there this year and he's doing amazingly well. While at our local elementary, he was suspended multiple times and was constantly stressed. He'd crawl under desks and cry and was just not doing well. Since starting at IDEA House, he's made so much progress academically, but more importantly, he doesn't stress about school, loves going, and is thriving. I highly recommend IDEA House for anyone with children that have unique needs and need something more than a public or private school can offer. I appreciate that everyone at IDEA House is there because they understand and enjoy working with unique needs children.

An art gallery, a cubist style chapel, a café, and other things that may be open at other times, but weren't open on my visit. As twilight set in, the fireflies danced between the grasses and old growth trees around the campus and created a special quiet atmosphere to enjoy.

Words cannot describe how much I have loved this school. My daughter has attended for three years,…read moreand she has thrived. I only wish we could stay there forever. When I first walked in the building, I was blown away by how peaceful it is. You'll find children ages 2 and up quietly concentrating on work they have chosen and are excited to learn. The teachers are nurturing, calm, and really care about the kids. The children are kind to each other and learn responsibility. My daughter is reading already, and she knows more about animals and geography and the solar system than I do! I can not recommend this school highly enough. With that being said discrimination should not be a thing and is absolutely disgusting. I have ran into multiple issues with this daycare for the past two years. for starters they do not change my sons pull ups often multiple times I have picked my son up with a pull up so full it was leaking through his pants on his shirt. multiple times I have picked him up with bowel movements and had to change him myself and he was constantly being picked up with a rash. Next they wrote a report that my son fell and hit his head when I picked him up he had a huge knot on his forehead and liquid coming out of his ear. so I had to take him to the emergency room to be checked out. In December I was picking up my son and I did not see him I asked where he was and the teacher was in complete shock because she did not know where my son was either. she had lost him. After 5 minutes of searching the daycare he was found outside alone in 19 degree weather in the dark ALONE unsupervised. recently he has been coming home with bruises and unusual marks on him and when questioned them about it they got extremely upset with me because this time I was not nice about it I said I want answers on what's happening with my non verbal child. they did not like that very much so the OWNER of this daycare called me yelling at me being absolutely completely unprofessional and saying they do not want my son there anymore that they can't meet his needs and hung up on me. so I would consider other daycares in this area before looking at this one especially if you want your child taking care of properly and not just "keeping them alive" other things have happened but that would turn this review into a book I am extremely happy I removed my son from this daycare as he was showing signs of being scared to even enter the building lately.
