Our septic had backed up and overflowed and after handling all the damage control we needed someone to come and pump. Now, a little background here. I have experience working with contractors and handymen on 2 continents, and I have been fighting the Yelp battle for good service for over a year now, whilst I tried to get my house ready to sell. Also, keep in mind that this was the last week of the year, and most businesses were shutdown for the holidays. That being said, and this is going to sound funny, but it was the people who pumped my septic who gave me the best customer service I've ever received. No joke. Andrea (who handles the appointments over the phone) was warm, personable, and SO very considerate. She said they were pretty well booked, but when I explained my emergency, she somehow managed to fit me in just before the weekend! She kept me updated every step of the way. When Austin (hope I got his name right) arrived, he was the ideal of what everyone who hires a contractor hopes arrives at their home. He was on time, courteous, professional, friendly. He dug up the holes without any complaint. (Which wasn't easy, as I was his fourth customer of the day, and there were roots like you wouldn't believe.) And he chatted with me like we were old friends while he took extra time to rinse out the effluent tank. They really are just a small family, business, I found out, who own the truck and decided to go into this line of work after their own septic 'refunded' on them. TLDR: All in all, DFW Septic did everything right, and I only wish they were in a different line of work, so I could call upon their services more often!

I then gave him a list of problems for the next visit and he said it would be $129/hr plus a $40 trip charge even though I live in red oak which is near Waxahachie. Very pricey in my opinion. His total estimate was $500 for fixing these things: 1) Find out cause of leak from upstairs to downstairs and possibly fix right away 2)Replace toilet seat & cover 3)Reconnect dishwasher downstairs to water line 4)Water in commode stays running non-stop Once I put my mind to it, i was able to fix everything by myself (except for the leaking pipe which no longer needed fixing since it stopped leaking after the bathtub got unclogged, just as I predicted) for less than $60. In summary, he is pricey and was willing to estimate $500 for minor problems. Could have possibly cost me more. Comes across like he is out to make top dollar from clients and doesn't necessarily care about being affordable.

We used A1 a couple of years ago. I didn't feel good about the experience at the time, but I had no…read moreproof to back it up. Last week, I had a service company come out and they confirmed my suspicions. When A1 said they replaced two pumps on our system, it was done when we were not home, therefore there was no way no shut off the breaker and we saw none of the work being done. The owner of A1 said they replaced the pumps without shutting off the power. We were charged for two pumps to the tune of about $5,000. The service company that was just out informed me that one pump looked like the original and had not been replaced and the other pump was not even receiving power and also was not anywhere near new. I did not want to write such a negative review until I had proof, because to damage someone's reputation is not to be taken lightly. We did not receive honest service from A1, we were lied to, and they got $5k from us for doing nothing.
