No parking, design of building and parking lot useless. Entry has small windows with long line to ask simple question.

Union Station - View of Worcester Train Station

I visited this station for it's historical significance. Although not the original station (built…read morein 1875 ) in town, this building was completed in 1911 for the Boston & Albany Railroad. At it's peak, 140 trains were making there way through this station, daily. Over the years it has served a variety of railroads and switched hands multiple times. As routes were moved away from Worcester, ridership decreased and in 1972 Amtrak boarded up the building and began to use a much smaller brick building nearby as it's station. By 1992 a group of locals began efforts to rehab the old station to it's original beauty. After several years of effort and planning, during which the building was purchased by the Commonwealth of MA, the building finally began restoration and in 2000 the building reopened to railway passengers. A small part of the station is set aside for rail passengers. Here you'll find a map of commuter rails and a MBTA ticket kiosk. There is no Amtrak customer service available here. You can purchase Amtrak tickets originating at this station through their web site. There is a small waiting area, a Worcester public library book vending machine, a police substation and a QR code that will link you to a walking tour of the Blackstone canal area. There is an elevator up to the platform level and ramps down to the bus level. Three vending machines are available for snacks and beverages. Public restrooms are older but clean enough as public restrooms go. The main part of the building is a beautiful vaulted hall that can be rented out for private events. This area is closed off during event and open to the public when not in use. There are also two dining areas off this main hall and a parking garage next door. The official website has information about renting the event space. Another example of the beautiful historic architecture you will find in this historic city.

About 20 years ago they decided to remodel it and spent millions of dollars to renovate it and bring it back to its glory. Every time we would drive by I wondered what it looked like inside and think that I needed to check it out someday. So a few days ago as we drove by my husband said "do you want to stop and check out Union Station?" YES!!!! There is a parking garage directly behind it with easy access into the station. The station is HUGE (well, not as big as the NYC!) and we walked throughout checking everything out. The station was pretty quiet on a Saturday afternoon and everything was closed (restaurants, coffee shop, police station etc), there was just a handful of people either waiting on a train or bus. The architecture was absolutely beautiful as most buildings built in this era were. I have no idea how well the ticketing and schedules work, but it is definitely a beautiful building worth checking out.

Turning into parking lot while another party is going out, I had already turned in while the other party tried to zoom pass and go out, now I didn't have enough room to pull in and I'm driving a rental so i'm not too familiar with it, the other party had enough room to pull out but didn't want to turn and kind of just be a d*ck about it. M. Reardon the cop came straight to me and did not say a word to the other party who were coincidently caucasian, it felt like the other party was heavily favored, both parties should be asked to compromise in moving our car, cop claims the other party did not have room but that is not true I have footage from the store that they had an adubdunt of room, they just wanted to be a d*ck about it. Both parties should have been asked to compromise in moving our car to fix traffic flow, rather he yelled at me for not being competent and said nothing to the other party. He gave me a ticket for obstruction of traffic, which shows how petty he got. Giving out a ticket for not being able to turn into a parking lot due to obstruction from another car? That should tell you everything you need to kno about him.

Judgmental and downright paranoid police department. Will pursue drivers in the thief of the night…read moreand essentially make a lie up in order to get more information out of you. Some on the team that I've witnessed have a bad case of superiority complex and believe that they have the right to do just about anything to you, even try to search your car without a search warrant! They have been shown to not care nor give the benefit of doubt with your rights in mind! Historically speaking, I have been followed and confronted by Millbury police after dropping one of my friend's clothes off at one of their donation bins near Goretti's not just once, but TWICE in the same night; following me all the way to route 20! The first excuse they gave me was that my inspection sticker was expiring in a month(they must've either been bored or looking for their nightly quota to be saying stuff like that LOL) and shortly afterwards, began to question me about what I was doing regarding putting "something" into the donation bin. Puzzled, I told him that it was my friends old sweatshirt. His response was "are you sure?" I insisted to him that it indeed was. He then brought up the inspection sticker "issue" AGAIN and told me to get it renewed even though I still had an entire month to take action. Driving back further towards Shrewsbury, a SECOND officer decides to pull me over and give me the same tangent as the previous; asking me about where I came from and what I'm doing etc etc. At this point, I'm completely turned off from the idea of going to Millbury at night in concerns that I'm just being consistently stalked and harassed by the town's police department; who may have attempted to start an investigation about me regarding the most pathetic of matters like putting clothes in a bin DESIGNED for donating clothes! Unbelievable! Fast forward to this year, I have noticed the same pattern: 1)They pull you over. 2) Throw a minor traffic violation at you(oftentimes without even writing a ticket or warning which pretty much proves that they had ulterior motives against you to begin with). 3) They begin asking personal questions about what you've been doing and where have you been going 4)Try to immediately accuse you of rumored crimes based off of anecdotal claims or excessive suspicion and find any means necessary(including fear tactics) to get you to admit the said crime and charge you for it. When compared to it's neighboring towns, like Worcester or EVEN Shrewsbury(my hometown); there is no contest that some of the most potentially harassing and advantageous of cops belong to this department. It's a shame because there is one cop witnessed that was a decent and relatively fair human being when I needed to file an accident report, but is unfortunately overshadowed by the many "stalkers" and detectives that take things to the unnecessary extremes; exhibiting corrupt behavior for their line of duty. I'm very disappointed with how most of them handle their tasks to "serve and protect". They either don't care about doing anything to help their fellow residents or do something so extreme that they cross the blue line and make you the center of an investigation! No in between!

Located at the top of a steep hill, in a neighborhood, it's a pretty impressive site. There was snow on the ground when we visited and the pathways are not shoveled so if you go in winter, wear appropriate footwear. I'm not sure when the gates are unlocked to climb to the top, but there is a staircase and I bet the views from the top are stunning. A small parking area is across the street from the structure. A small sign limits parking to one hour and there is one trash can should you need it. There is also a sign that appears to be at a trailhead but with all the snow it's hard to tell. One word of caution: when we arrived there was one car in the parking area with two persons inside. When we got out of our car they got out of theirs. We walked toward the folly. They walked toward our vehicle. I took photos, but remained near the parking lot because suede shoes and snow do not make a good combination. After taking my photos, I turned around, they were just standing next to my car. As I stared at them, they turned and looked over the edge of the lot down the hill. I walked down the road a piece to get a different angle of the structure and always had my vehicle in view. They eventually got back in their car and drove away without visiting the folly or really even looking at it. After they left I walked over to see if there was anything they could actually be looking at down the hill and no, it was someone's home and a wooded hillside. Nothing there to attract attention. Just a situational awareness 'head up' to visitors. Otherwise, the folly really is lovely and it was decorated for the holidays too. It was a quick visit overall and we were on to the next stop. In summer it might make a good spot to family photos and perhaps a picnic if you bring a blanket to sit on.

They took over some defunct retail space, which is a good idea, as it offered a lot of space and plenty of parking. I'd say about 75% of the people looked like seniors. The line moved quickly, within 5 minutes I was given a number and told to have a seat. There is an abundance of seating, the space looked neat and clean. They have large flat panel screens and a clear announcement of each queue number that is called. About 30 minutes later my number was called. The woman who assisted me was polite, professional and knowledgeable. Five minutes later, I walked out with a new registration and plates.
