Reservations were for 2.30 and we were all early. We were seated at 2.30 but dinner even the kids meal came out at 3.45. The chicken for the kids was leather tough. The turkey dinner was small portions, water down cranberry sauce and something that looked like mashed potatoes, was terrible. The worst part is the plates were brought out with people holding them by the edges. One guy had on plastic gloves, another guy just his bare hands with his thumb over the top of the plate. We will not go back, and this place was terrible. The best part was we were asking for more bread to a few people. Our waitress came by and said the delay was due to the bread was still in the oven. 10 minutes later the bread came to us...cold.

Angela, Maria, Nicki, and their entire staff were incredibly kind, patient, and welcoming throughout the whole process. Even before the big day, their level of organization really stood out. They answered all of our questions promptly and even brought up planning details we hadn't thought of, which helped us feel prepared and confident. The tasting event was also a fun and memorable part of the planning process. One thing that made the planning process easier was how much The River Club had available for us to borrow, including items like cake stands, easels, table numbers, and other helpful details. These small touches saved us time, money, and stress. They also allowed us to drop off a lot of our decor weeks in advance, which helped us feel more relaxed leading up to the big day. It was clear from the beginning that their team was not only experienced, but also truly invested in helping make everything smooth and stress-free. On the day of the wedding, everything exceeded expectations. As soon as I arrived at the venue, I was greeted by the full staff, which was such a warm and reassuring way to start the day. Weddings can be overwhelming, but they made me feel like everything was under control the moment I walked in. The communication between The River Club and our vendors was seamless, and they executed our vision perfectly, better than we could have imagined. Our bridal party was also very impressed with the bridal suite. We loved being able to use both the indoor and outdoor areas for photos, relaxing, and spending time together before the ceremony. It was a great setup that made the day even more enjoyable. The venue itself is beautiful. It is just 10 minutes from the Scituate Lighthouse, a popular and scenic location for pre-ceremony photos. The space feels unique and open, and many of our guests commented on how nice it was to have room to walk around, mingle, and enjoy both the dancing and quieter areas. The bar area was also a big hit, with plenty of space for socializing. If you are considering dessert, we highly recommend the Grand Finale. Our guests absolutely loved it, along with all the food throughout the night. People also kept mentioning how nice it was to have such a large and welcoming bar area, which added a fun and relaxed atmosphere to the evening. While this review highlights many of the reasons we loved The River Club, there were so many incredibly thoughtful touches and moments of support that went beyond what we expected. Their team truly cares, and we are so grateful for everything they did to make our wedding day unforgettable.

And, crowded, too -the entire gallery space was packed! There was food, beer, wine, live jazz music, awards, and lots of beautiful artwork! :) If you have never been, there are basically 2 main gallery spaces, the Bancroft Gallery & the Dillon Gallery. The Bancroft gallery is the larger space where Media Mix is being shown. I like this space very much! It has large walls on one side of it, and shorter walls on the other side with ample lighting. The walls seem to be some kind of upholstered plywood which makes for easy positioning of paintings. (No worrying about hiding nail holes!) There is also a hardwood floor which makes the entire space look modern and clean. The Dillon Gallery is smaller and darker. There was an exhibit of Italian paintings in there, which I enjoyed very much! This was really my first involvement with the South Shore Art Center, but overall, it seems to be a great place to view and learn about art! Everyone I met there is very friendly, and happy to meet local artists. It is also located in a beautiful town!
