Amazing Wedding! My son and his bride got married this past Friday at the River Club. The staff and owner, Angela; were way over the top helpful and wonderful. The venue was gorgeous and pristine, inside and outside. Jean, who was my person to take care of the mother of the groom was beyond words so helpful to me. Makes me cry just thinking of her and having her there for me. Seig (spelling) was my son's person and again, amazing is to overused but I can't help it. Erin; super helpful; Maria and everyone else was the best. I have no complaints at all. The food was plentiful, too plentiful if there is such a thing; and delicious. If you are looking for a place for your wedding or any event, I couldn't recommend it any more than 100% best place. Thank you so very much for making this a sincerely special day for my family.

I came here for a concert even though it's a wedding venue. Brides if you are looking for a great place which has a beautiful garden too this is your place. I enjoyed walking around the grounds before the show very much. It was a seated concert, which makes it very nice to enjoy your show. The sound system was awesome, the performer who I had come to see did an amazing job. The staff are very friendly, all together a very pleasant place and good time. Will definitely return here.

5 stars isn't even enough to capture just how amazing Angela and the River Club staff are!! We unfortunately had to reschedule our original wedding due to COVID, and Angela was nothing but supportive and unbelievably kind during the entire experience! When we finally got to our rescheduled wedding day, it was truly a dream come true! Angela, Nikki, and the rest of the River Club staff made sure the day ran smoothly, made sure everything we brought was where it was supposed to be, and most importantly, made sure my husband and I always had food and drinks! To this day, my guests are still talking about the steak and River Club chicken!!! Everyone commented on how attentive the staff was and how I never was without a glass of my drink of choice! I really can't say enough good things about this venue and the staff! I would 100% recommend the River Club to anyone who wants their wedding day to run smoothly without having to worry about a single thing- the River Club has got you covered!

From the moment my wife and I saw this venue we knew it was the one. Angela was all that you could want and more in a venue proprietor. She was very well organized and attentive to all our concerns and needs. Her staff is also impeccable and make sure your day runs smoothly. During the reception they would ask if my wife or I needed anything. It was very professional. We had a late October wedding and it was approx. 70 degrees and sunny. With that kind of weather it made the venue even more picturesque than it already was. Angela added some little touches here and there to make it feel more like autumn such as pumpkins, which my wife and I loved. Go here you will not be disappointed. Thank you Angela and your staff fot everything!

This could be a great venue, but because of the staff and the way it's run, it isn't.

A few months later we got notified that the Barker Tavern had been bought out and it has now become the "Barker House" by Wedgewood Weddings. My fiancé and I were nervous at first, but not for long as Andrew was there to make it all work out. Andrew, the general manager, made the entire transition seamless. He assured all construction/renovations would be better than before (and THAT THEY WERE!) and that he was not willing to change a thing for what we had originally envisioned with Barker Tavern, in fact-- went above and beyond to make it better then we even imagined. Andrew really listened, and delivered. You can tell Andrew has been working in this industry for years because he really knows his stuff! When Camryn, our coordinator came into the picture, we knew we were in good hands. Camryn was so communicative leading up to the day of and made us feel so wonderful. When it came down to our wedding day, Camryn really ran a tight ship in terms of the timeline so that she had all the vendors working together but was so calm and collected the whole time. The ENTIRE day was smooth, and stress free. My husband and I don't drink so Camryn made sure that we had our mocktail's of choice all night, and also put in the bridal & groom suite which was such a beautiful detail that we were SO appreciative of! Camryn made set up also so easy - I Brought all my boxes in and she set everything up just how I wanted -- and then Paula and Kylie also did such a spectacular job setting up the furniture and cocktail hour that everyone was raving about it all night! Paula really was the icing on the cake. We have worked in the industry for 15+ years and have never met such a thorough, and kind banquet captain. We absolutely loved Paula and how she managed all of her servers and staff - Kylie, Jessica, Patricia, John, Tim, and Dennis -- you guys are rockstars and some of the speediest servers I've ever seen in the industry! Big shout out to the kitchen stars, Chef Marc - people could NOT stop talking about the Mac N cheese balls, bacon wrapped scallops & the entrees were to DIE for! Everyone wanted containers to take leftovers home -- Chef Marc really knows how to deliver for a wedding and with great quality! We really just wish we could relive our wedding weekend again and again and thats all because of Camryn, Andrew & the team at Wedgewood Weddings. The venue, the vibes, the class, the kindness -- all of the it was there. We believe everything happened for a reason and we were supposed to have our wedding planned by Wedgewood. If you're looking for the best experience possible, it's the Barker House by Wedgewood Weddings - WITHOUT A DOUBT!

Event Coordination and Continuity There was no consistent…read morewedding coordinator throughout the planning process. The final planning meeting was scheduled on a day when Paige, who would ultimately serve as our day-of coordinator, was not working, leaving her without access to confirmed and accurate information. Information discussed during that meeting was either not accurately recorded or not properly communicated, placing Paige in an extremely difficult and unfair position on the day of the wedding. Despite this, Paige went above and beyond in every conceivable way. She spent the day extinguishing one fire after another, including issues related to catering, staffing, and the DJ. Most notably, when it became clear that the paid-for tater tot bar was not being executed as planned, Paige personally went to the store to purchase tater tots so that it could be made available. As the host of the wedding, I had planned for this to be the first meal I was able to eat that day after spending my time ensuring our guests were cared for, making her effort especially meaningful. Two-Week Meeting and Planning Issues At our two-week meeting, the tater tot bar was confirmed but was not properly recorded in our event details. During this meeting, it appeared that the coordinator leading the meeting was unfamiliar with the seating and event-planning software. There was significant difficulty creating and organizing the table layout, and information discussed during the meeting was either entered incorrectly or not transcribed accurately into the system. I was ultimately sent home with seating charts containing three separate "Table 18s" and two separate "Table 2s," with tables scattered throughout the layout without logical organization. Because of the confusion and inaccuracies in the seating charts provided, I felt compelled to create a table layout of my own for the venue to use as a reference. When these issues were identified, they were attributed to a recent software upgrade that had allegedly caused previously saved templates and information to be lost. However, the extent of the errors left me concerned that there was a lack of familiarity with the program and that important planning details were not being accurately recorded. Staffing and Guest Experience During the Reception A bartender walked out during the event. There was insufficient waitstaff. The hors d'oeuvres were not circulated throughout the entire cocktail hour space and were instead primarily brought directly from the kitchen to select tables, resulting in many guests not receiving the same level of service. The indoor bartender was rude and unpleasant, resulting in multiple complaints to the Mother of the Bride. A security staff member repeatedly followed the Mother of the Bride's husband each time he stepped outside to smoke a cigarette in the designated smoking area. The attached photograph clearly shows the location of the ashtray provided for guest use. Despite other guests utilizing the same area for smoking throughout the evening, only the Mother of the Bride's husband was repeatedly approached and monitored. This singling out was unnecessary, uncomfortable, and inappropriate. The men's restroom ran out of paper towels, and the nearby security guard stated that he did not know where replacement supplies were located. Food and Catering Issues The tortellini was burnt. There was not enough tortellini, and it ran out before all tables were served. Vegetarian guests did not have access to a vegetarian meal. Since January, both the tater tot bar and Ben & Jerry's had been included in our plans. Ben & Jerry's was not provided. Additionally, the paid-for tater tot bar was not served as planned; instead, street tacos were served. During dessert service, the venue ran out of both plates and napkins. Guests were left without the basic items necessary to enjoy their desserts, creating unnecessary confusion and inconvenience during what should have been one of the final celebratory moments of the evening. Venue Condition The outdoor garden and grounds were not maintained in a condition suitable for a wedding venue. The garden area was unkempt, in disarray, and ultimately unusable for wedding photographs. There were dead, hanging flowers present at the hall entrance on both sides of the doorway, creating a poor first impression for arriving guests and detracting from the appearance of the venue. When our photographer first went outside to scout locations for photographs, she had to stop and pick up a discarded plastic cup and move it out of the area before photographs could even be considered. Additionally, during our two-week meeting, I personally picked up trash from inside the outdoor ceremony area, including debris in the bushes, under chairs, and along the fence line. DJ Services The DJ emailed the bride twice, and the bride responded both times, yet no follow-up occurred. At the two-week meeting, the DJ had still not contacted the couple. When contact

To set the stage: I'm an incredibly organized person; I own a business, I love an Excel sheet, I live in to-do lists. I was pretty convinced I could plan a wedding on my own. But the second my now husband and I met Sara, we knew we couldn't have the stress-free, all fun, no-issues day we wanted without Sara. She immediately understood how I make decisions and presented everything strategically and directly handled the things we didn't care about but needed to get done. She knew what my husband wanted to be involved in and what she could come to me directly to discuss. She listened, she communicated, and most importantly she shared her incredible knowledge with us every step of the way - from the tasting to the rentals. There's just so much about the wedding industry that, unless you're in it for years, you'll never even think to ask, never know what you can negotiate and what you have to suck it up and pay for. To get everyone's immediate question out of the way - Sara's fees are incredibly reasonable, both for full planning if you choose to do so (which I HIGHLY recommend you do) or day-of coordinating. But more importantly, she easily paid for herself time and time again through helping us negotiate down fees, managing a couple tricky/difficult vendors, and surprising us with amazing touches throughout our wedding weekend (for example, Sara knew my favorite local farm florist that we unfortunately weren't allowed to work with at our wedding venue, so she surprised me on our rehearsal dinner by bringing in my favorite blooms!). On the day of the wedding, she and her assistant Chelsea had every aspect covered, including handling things we didn't even know were an issue - for instance, we apparently ran low on vodka during cocktail hour, but only knew when we saw Sara calmly strolling back into the venue with a box of five handles of Titos. That peace of mind is exactly what you need on your day. Trust me. Just book Sara and thank me later.

The Bancroft gallery is the larger space where Media Mix is being shown. I like this space very much! It has large walls on one side of it, and shorter walls on the other side with ample lighting. The walls seem to be some kind of upholstered plywood which makes for easy positioning of paintings. (No worrying about hiding nail holes!) There is also a hardwood floor which makes the entire space look modern and clean. The Dillon Gallery is smaller and darker. There was an exhibit of Italian paintings in there, which I enjoyed very much! This was really my first involvement with the South Shore Art Center, but overall, it seems to be a great place to view and learn about art!
