I was a member for a few years and did use it regularly for about one year. I took about a year and…read morea half off due to surgeries, etc. during this time I received a notice that one of my credit cards had been hacked. As time went by HBO and the car wash both informed me I had to use a new card. No problem. I went to Planet Fitness finally they told me the same thing. My card had been turned off for about five months. When I first came in, I told the lady at the front desk about my situation. She had absolutely zero empathy or ability to think outside of the Tiny little box of training that she had in her head. very sternly, she cut me off before I could even explain and said I had to pay for all of the months that I did not use it and late fee for all of the months that they weren't able to charge my card. I explained to her what happened and that I understood I had to pay for the months, but did not think a late fee should be charged. I honestly would've gave in if she had just explained nicely the situation. But she was so harsh with me and looked at me with such anger in her eyes. It immediately "triggered" me. at this point, I demanded to speak with her boss. The boss was willing to waive the late fees, but was unwilling to even acknowledge that the lady at the front desk was extremely rude to me. She stood there over the Manager shoulder glaring at me. I just finally stormed out before I said something I'd regret. Sat in my truck and cooled off, and I started thinking about it. If I drive away now, will they continue wrapping up monthly charges? So be grudgingly I went back in and spoke with the manager and she said yes they were going to continue charging it and take me to small claims. I paid the bill right there minus the late fee and I told them they would never get another penny from me. Just so you understand. I am the perfect client for the fitness center. I hardly ever show up and when I do, I don't use showers or lockers or suntanning or any of that crap. I do a little work out by myself and I walk out. Sometimes all I do is use the massage bed. But the lady at the front desk couldn't see any of that. In fact, she couldn't even understand. I hadn't been there in a year and I was still willing to pay every month.! I now spend my money at the WAC. Same price as Planet Fitness since I'm a military veteran and my wife is a member. 30 bucks a month for everything swimming pools, hot tubs dry saina steam rooms. Twice the amount if not, three times the amount of equipment. Do better Planet Fitness do better .

Gyms are really personal and what you are looking for and what you are trying to accomplish…read more Planet Fitness seems to be reasonable membership (two levels: Basic for $10 and Black Card for $22), clean and up to date equipment, locker rooms and many locations. Now, what is it that you need? Do you travel for work and need access to another PF? Do you have a spouse or significant other that doesn't go often but may go with you? Do you want the amenities and perks like massage chairs, hydromassage and tanning beds? Then Black Card is for you. For me, taking my kids to soccer practice 30-45 minutes away, I'm not driving home to only turn around to pick up. I like the ability to go to another PF. I travel for work and occasionally will hit a PF in that city. I like the use of a massage chair here and there. I've visited perhaps 6 other locations and absolutely the Waukesha location is the cleanest, seems to be bigger and brighter with all of the windows. They are franchises, so perhaps that is the reason. Equipment wise: Cardio Treadmills Ellipticals Stairclimbers Stationary and recumbent bikes ARC trainers Planet Fitness Arm, Shoulder, & Chest Machines When it's arm day at Planet Fitness, you'll be able to use machines including: Bicep curl station Shoulder press Bicep and tricep cable bar Chest press Lateral pull-down machine Butterfly machine Incline press Planet Fitness Leg Machines You've heard "don't skip leg day"--and you certainly don't have to with a Planet Fitness membership. Try these machines: Seated leg press Angled leg curl machine Leg extension machine Sled push Planet Fitness Core Machines Working on your six-pack at Planet Fitness? Visit these workout machines: Multiple types of crunch machines Torso rotation Mountain climber machine Decline bench Hanging leg raise station Yoga Equipment Planet Fitness gyms usually have a room where you can find yoga mats and balance balls to help you warm up or relax your muscles before or after your workout. Full-Body Workout Options Your location may have one of these options to help you get in a full workout: A Synergy 360 machine (a versatile workout station allowing you to work many different muscles) A 30-minute Express Circuit room where you rotate between strength and cardio stations for 30 minutes Weight Lifting If you're passionate about weight lifting, this is the one area where Planet Fitness might not serve your needs very well but I have found it to be adequate. They have a solid collection of free weights (dumbbells and barbells) as well as Smith barbell machines, but most Planet Fitness locations don't have proper bench-press or squat racks, or bars heavy enough to deadlift but they have assisted type "squat racks" and most use this for squats and bench-press beyond the 80 lbs. dumbbells. If you're looking for good weight lifting equipment, check out another gym even if it bumps up your budget a little, again, I slowly found this is adequate especially for the price. All members have access to Planet Fitness changing rooms, lockers, and showers. Note that for the lockers, you'll need to bring your own padlock or rent one from the front desk if you want to lock up your belongings while you exercise. If you plan to use the showers, bring your own towel.

I first discovered Orangetheory Fitness when I was living in Minneapolis. When I moved to…read moreMilwaukee I was devastated to discover that there were no locations here. Devastated. Seriously. I won't say that finding out that Orangetheory was finally opening in Milwaukee was the happiest day of my life, but it probably makes the top five. This is the best workout I have ever had. It's hour-long group fitness that blends cardio and strength training and is all based on your heart rate (everyone wears a heart rate monitor with the results posted on screens in the studio so both you and the trainer can see what's going on). I've been in other group fitness classes where the trainer might tell you to do 6.0 mph on the treadmill. Trouble is, one person's 6.0 leaves them gasping for air and ready to puke while another person's 6.0 is a nice little warm up. Here the trainer will tell you what heart rate zone to get to and whether you get there running 6.0 or walking 3.0 at an incline of 7% is up to you. Because it's so individualized this workout is for anyone - those new to working out, those recovering from an injury, and hard core gym rats alike will all get a good workout here. Though every workout incorporates the treadmill (or bike or elliptical if you are treadmill averse or have an injury that prevents you from getting on the treadmill), rowing machine, TRX and weights, every class is different so you won't get bored. The workout is based on the theory of EPOC (excess post-exercise oxygen consumption) which finds that getting your heart rate above 84% of your maximum heart rate for 12-20 minutes will boost the calories you burn for up to 36 hours after you've stopped working out. At the end of every class you get a report with your results which shows you how many minutes you spent in each heart rate zone as well as an estimate of calories burned. I don't really think about this too much, all I know is that Orangetheory got me in the best shape of my life. And your first workout is free and there's no contract to sign. What have you got to lose? Try it.

I was required to provide additional documentation and jump through hoops, with no proper follow-up. I never received a copy of my contract upon signing it despite requesting it. The studio showed no concern for member well-being and came across as money-hungry and unethical. Proceed with caution.
