I've been to this venue a couple of times and usually most places just use the Centennial Park. However, this event uses the park plus all several parking lots and the space that leads to the Peoria library as well as the first floor of the Peoria library. It's a great event for shopping, watching performances, and eating from a bunch of nice food stands/trucks. The best part is all of it is free. This is great fun for all the family or for foodies looking for an event that has free parking and entry.

The booth vendors were all friendly and served is some really tasty Filipino food (Lechon Paksiw and pork skewers) and Mexican drinks (lemon lime & Strawberry). This free event was held in the downtown Chandler Library Plaza. Parking was plentiful (library garage) and lots of room to roam. The 2011 event had 2 stages. They performances ranged from Flamenco dancing, American Indian hoop dancing, Japanese Aiko, Jaguar step team, Chinese dances, & African rooted music w/ Puerto Rican dance forms. The stage was a little small from some of the performers so they did their thing on concrete. The food vendors were as mixed as the performances from Indian fry breads, Navajo tacos, tamales, beef kabob, mini donuts, crepe lunch truck, dipping dots, Caribbean cuisine & Mexican paletas. There's the usually fare of shaved ice, kettle corn, & hot dogs. There were plenty of tables to eat & sit on. Food & drinks prices were very reasonable. The arts / craft vendors were very limited. For free kiddie fun, there was 1 jumpy and climbing ring which were too crowded from my small kids. Tips: use the library restrooms if you hate the potty johns.

If you like Greek music, definitely check them out. The dancers were great as well, lots of traditional dances in traditional clothes, as well as modern dancing. Then of course there's the food. We had the Moussaka (eggplant & ground beef casserole, $7). The Tiropita (cheese pie, $4). And for dessert, Loukoumades (Greek donut holes, $5), Karithopita (spiced walnut cake, $3), Kourabiedes (shortbread cookies with powdered sugar, $1), and Melamakarona (spice cookie, $1). My absolute favorite was the Karithopita (spiced walnut cake) because it was so incredibly moist! The runners ups would be the Kourabiedes (shortbread cookies with powdered sugar, and the Melamakarona (spice cookie). Examples of other dishes included, Saganaki (flaming cheese dish), Souvlaki (grilled pork), Dolmathes (stuffed grapevine leaves), etc. There were many other desserts too. Oh and there's tons of parking, entrance fee is $3, and there's tons of food, sweets, coffee, and alcohol to choose from! The ones I listed are just a few, love the variety here! There's also a Greek booth with imported Greek items.

The most time you really could spend here is about 90 minutes. Most of the greek dances occur in circle form and that is entertaining to watch for a few minutes, but the food is why we are all here. Oh, on the website, it is 2-1 admission, so two for three bucks was a good entry deal. My favorite food there was the $7, flaming cheese served on a pita. OPA! We tried just about everything and the Moussaka slightly edged out the Greek Lasagna in the main dish competition. The rice pilaf and beans were average, but the spinach pie was flaky and excellent. Finally, the deserts are famous in Green culture, but the Baklava wasn't the best at this festival. There were so many desserts we had to buy the $15 assorted package. The best one was the spiced Walnut cake and Baklava sundae (only pieces of Baklava). The powdered sugar cookie was messy, but probably will try to Lokunado's next year - fried dough with honey.

We did have a few good tamales including the ones from Food City and one that was wrapped in a banana leaf, but like I said, its random luck from the 10 or so stands. The festival is only two blocks long, but alot of booths had wheels to spin to get free stuff and alot of free samples of other products too were available. Everything is mostly conducted in Spanish, including the music. Spent about 90 minutes at the festival, but it could be better if bigger and if the tamale booths were labeled better.

A large stage featured talented Latino groups and mariachi bands. The hit was one featuring a young boy, child prodigy, on an acordian with his family. They serve alcohol, which requires a free wristband received after presentation of an ID staing that you are over 21 (required for any age). This is a great event. Period. Great variety of food trucks. Today was really cold and windy but lucky there were food vendors that sold coffee, hot chocolate, hot tea and hot apple cider. The arts & craft booths I really like the variety, tons of vendors selling candles, great variety of jewelry items Native American, spoon and fork rings and necklaces, lots of charms necklaces very unique items. Creative children items, even a Cardinal/ASU unique T-Shirts & sweatshirts. Some paintings, pottery not the normal items you would see at the Tempe Arts Festival this was unique in a good way. This fair was free, plenty of parking and easy to get in and out. All the vendors were really engaging and I really loved the setup. It was not huge like the Tempe Arts Festival but they had a nice variety of booths and a great place to pick up unique Christmas items.
