My experience with Francisco was very disappointing. We did an online lesson together in which he did not have a reliable internet connection, was late to the meeting, and did not seem prepared. I was hesitant to schedule the second lesson because the first one went so poorly. When I reached out to schedule it he said I waited too long and that I could not redeem the remaining 7 lessons purchased via Groupon. He never mentioned a timeline during any of our email exchanges or during the lesson itself, so it did feel disingenuous. When I emailed him about this he was surprisingly rude, saying "this is a business, not an on demand hobby." At the very least, Groupon says you can redeem the amount of your purchase even if the "discount" expires but he did not seem to be interested in honoring that. He went on to email me again and say "Groupon is full of Chipos and everybody knows that" and then out of the blue said, "maybe in your country of origin things are different." Francisco's English communication is pretty poor, he teaches online lessons without a reliable internet connection, he doesn't honor past agreements, he insults his customers, and oddly references race here. Lastly, if you read his reply to Dafne's comment on 9/11/15 he apparently likes to "put women in her place" In summary, I would not recommend Francisco. read more

I can only review Francisco, since he pretty much told me to go fuck myself (actual translation go f your mother). We were discussing the classes for my friends, I am a native speaker. While chatting, I had already decided he was the best option and clicked hire, but still wanted to ask him whether some basic rules of orthography I noticed he ignored while writing back were going to be cover (I even said no big deal if not). He got offended and wrote a really haughty response, saying I was crazy, to teach them myself and not to bother writing back to him. Francisco has been helping me with Spanish translations and editing services off and on for a few years. My goal in hiring him was to improve my conversational skills in Spanish from Mexico, which is the kind of Spanish that people around me speak at work and in my community. I work with him on a regular basis asking him how certain words and phrases would be translated, or how I might express myself naturally in a certain situation. In addition to the translations, he always gives me very specific information about how to use a word, sentence or phrase in a way that sounds authentic and natural and not like it came from a Spanish textbook. Hola amigos! I've been working with Francisco for almost one year now and my experience with him has been wonderful. He's incredibly flexible, accommodating, and helpful with our curriculum and has a vast library of resources that he has shared with me along the way. He's deeply knowledgeable of both Spanish and English, punctual, responsible, and does a great job at recognizing my areas of strength and my areas in which I can improve upon - and he pushes me in the right direction to help me improve on my speaking and listening in whatever areas I need most help in. Frank is flexible, reliable, punctual, reasonably priced and most of all, a terrific teacher. After ending 4 month sessions with my staff, they are still conversing in Spanish in the kitchen. I'm so happy with my Spanish lessons from Francisco. Everything has been fun and he keeps it very interesting with additional materials, videos, movies etc. He is super flexible with locations and times to meet up. He really knows how to assess your skill level and challenge you from there - but he never makes me feel like a kook when I have an off week.
