So I purchased a cheese slate from World Market's website & wasn't too pleased with the quality. I had hoped to do an exchange in the store. When I walked in, there was one employee at the door changing a sign. He welcomed me & asked if I needed any help. I told him my issue & he showed me where the slates were kept. Yikes. They were a hot mess. All the cardboard "holders" were damaged, each slate had blemishes & chalk markings on them. Needless to say, I did not do an exchange & thought I'd have better luck at another location. This location has tons of stuff & from what I could tell it was neat. You have to appreciate the location, as it's near popular spots (i.e. IKEA, Petsmart). Plenty of parking. read more

I love world markets. I always have a good experience no matter what location I go to. And this location is no exception to that. Employees always chat with you and maybe are some of the best associates ever. What keeps me coming back to world market over and over is the quality of products and I really love their coffee Rewards. I pay $10 for a two lb. Bag of coffee, which is some of the best coffee ever, and every 6 bags I buy I earn a free bag. And Wednesdays are double points for coffee. Love it. I am a huge fan of their kitchen ware. Nice variety with many options. And don't even get started on their wine collection. Heaven. It's hard not to come to world market and fill up your cart. Great finds. read more

I sure do like this store. They've got all sorts of knick-knacks and goodies from around the globe in here. It truly makes you feel like you're having a cultured experience when you walk around. This location in particular is pretty awesome. And I suppose it has to be when it's surrounded by IKEA and other interior décor stores - this is like home décor/furniture alley over here. Getting OUT of here can be difficult because just when you think you've seen it all, there's another row of unusual finds on your way to the register. If you're looking for a place to buy a gift you should be ashamed of yourself if you can't find something here. From arts and crafts to jewelry, clothes and scarves to curtains, furniture and lighting then on over to kitchenware, food, snacks and even beer and wine. I personally am a fan of the varied and more international individual bottle (build your own 6-pack) collection found here. I also love the assortment of Japanese snacks I can find in here. My only setback on those is the price - tends to be quite high compared to the same items found at an Asian grocery for example. Staff is usually very helpful but not always especially knowledgeable. Of course I can certainly forgive that with such a broad assortment of international items - it might be hard to tell exactly what or where everything is. I hardly ever leave reviews but because I'm a business owner & I thrive on customer service & fairness. When I walked into this store location a sales associate said "Welcome" & walked away. All the sales associates were busy on the floor moving things around & not 1 or the manger asked if I needed help as I was walking around shopping for a client. There were pillows up high I needed help to get I waited in the section for almost 20 mins before I finally was frustrated & walked around to find help. A sales associate was once again moving furniture around (it was around 1:00pm) I asked "Excuse me can I get some help?" She looked at me weird as if she didn't work there.. (I could already tell where this was going) I then proceeded to ask if there was anyone who can help with pillow arrangement.. I don't even want to explain the reply. I will never return to this location. I feel I was not helped because of my ethnicity & was racially targeted. Talk about teamwork!! I came from Raleigh specifically for a piece of furniture for our new house. The store in Cary called several stores. I told them I would be in Charlotte and they called stores there. We arrived at this one and there was only a floor model.The staff made several phone calls to other stores in the area and held one for us. We wound up going to the Mooresville location but overall a great team effort and helpful staff. So, here's why I love this place. Where else can you go to get a dining room set, cooking utensils, a shower curtain, earrings, the candy you ate in Japan that was so good you almost cried, the lager that knocked you off your bar stool in Germany, and the coffee that left you awake for 2 days in Italy? No place, that's where. As if this wasn't enough they throw in free wine tastings on Saturdays! What?!! Every time I walk into this store my mind is blown. I regularly get Cafe Du Monde beignet mix, which is much cheaper than flying to New Orleans every time I get a craving, various snacks, and a variety of wines from all over the world. What an incredible place! Everything you need and want, is right here at the World Market. I had such a great time here looking at vintage toys and browsing the international food selection. Be sure to ask for the rewards card, if one of the friendly cashiers forget to suggest it. Remember, with this reward program it isn't necessary for you to carry around a card. I first went in last weekend and had the same experience again so here's the review. The store is a nice idea but for calling itself a world market it only seems to have European styled items (except food), there may be more but the store is so cramped that is hard to get around. The salespeople walking around are pretty pushy about trying to get you to sign up for things or buy more then you're looking to get. I had someone yesterday argue with me when I said I didn't need a basket. Checking out is just as pushy, it really kills any desire for me to back a third time. Prices also seem to be inflated since it's a trendy place. Most items I had a chance to look at before I had to get out of the way in the narrow aisles were cheaper elsewhere with a better shopping experience. Overall if you want to pay more for a worse experience this is your place, at least you'll be able to tell everyone you bought it at World Market. read more

I love World Market. Wooden Beer bench ($99) with red metal legs - you are beautiful and I want to take you home. Really stylish home goods - rugs, pillows, chairs and sofas. Neato keen kids toy section. My favorite part is the gourmet food items - so many cool, yummy things I can only afford to treat myself to now and then. Modest selection of wines and build your own six pack craft beers. If you hear someone snoring in a pile of rugs, it's me waiting for the employees to lock up, so I can have a private party! I was completely shocked to see all the cool stuff in this new complex behind the IKEA... And I'm in the midst of making my cubicle cute, so I decided to stop in for some fun at the World Market... Let me tell you, the service here is outstanding! All I had to mention is that I was looking for purple things and I ended up with a personal shopper... lol She took me all around, showing me the cutest items and we had a blast... From foods to furniture, you can go around the world in as little as an hour... I'm a little partial to checking out the snacks from other countries, so it takes me a little while longer... I usually have a decent time when I go to a World Market, but the organization (sure, they're new, but I'm hoping it stays this way) and the exuberant friendliness of the staff make me wish I lived closer to this side of town... Popped into World Market on a Saturday (7/27) around 1 pm and was greeted at the door by a sales associate, who offered me a cart and informed me that I was just in time for the Wine tasting. What luck! I had the opportunity to taste a Riesling, Wine Spritzer and a Malbec. All delectable; decisions, decisions! I bought the Wine Spritzer, which was made with white wine and pomegranate juice, and was a steal. I moved on to the food section, where I picked up items I don't normally find in the grocery store. The store is jammed with all kinds of goodies, but is well organized, and there is plenty of staff on hand to assist. I proceeded to the checkout, where the service was fast and friendly. Swiped my Explorer card and got an additional discount! I love this place! read more

Sitting at home at my brand new dining table that World Market helped me fit into my car. Thomas the supervisor and one of his sweet employees helped us take the table apart and fit it just barely into the back of our Subaru Outback. He ran in and out of the store to get tool sets and supplies to help us get the table home safely. Did I mention he was wearing a short sleeved polo shirt, it was 30 degrees, and snow outside? Great customer service is a dying art nowadays and it's amazing to have experienced it today. Especially at a store you'd imagine is there just to sell you homegoods and send you on your way. Today was my first time in this particular world market. I am a fan of the chain, but one thing I like about the store is the layout is similar in every one I've been to. This makes finding your favorite things at different stores so easy. I found some really great stuff in there today. There were some sale items that I took advantage of and I was also able to find some foods I've been looking for. This store never ceases to amaze me! I love the quirky, earthy, worldly vibe. You really feel like your on a mini world tour when you go in. This particular store was very clean, neat, & organized. Everything was labelled correctly and it didn't seem like anything was out of place unlike some other world markets I've been in. The staff was very helpful and nice. Although the clerk at check out wasn't as fast as she could have been; she was very pleasant and even helped me set up my explorer card for what feels like the 5th time. All in all my experience was great & I can see myself stopping in on my way home from work frequently to see what new & exciting things I can find. read more

This store has a decent selection of different food products from various international countries, which is mainly what I've stopped in for. They have a lot of unique and interesting products but some are a bit on the pricy side. World Market has a great selection of spices, sauces, coffees, and seasonal products that I like though and a decent amount of kitchenware. They also appear have quite a few alcoholic products and some good looking furniture but I've never really looked through either. If you're looking for an international product you can't find anywhere else, this is definitely the place to go. read more

This is a great, brand new store! I came here the other day with my mom while we were en route to Ikea. The store is new, well stocked, clean and staff was very friendly. We came shortly after Valentine's day, and it looked like they were switching around some 50% off signage. It was a little bit confusing to figure out what was on sale, but not out of the ordinary. !!!!DO NOT ORDER ONLINE FROM THIS COMPANY!!! I attempted to order a couch on 8/12, which had an expected delivery date of 8/22. The couch never even shipped until 8/21 with a changed delivery date to 9/1. I had contacted customer service to inquire about switching my order to in-store pick-up so I could receive it in a timely manner as I was moving. I was told on 3 separate occasions that this was not possible so I just kept waiting for my order to be delivered. After checking my tracking information yesterday, I saw that the couch order had been cancelled by World Market and rerouted to be returned to sender without telling me. I will have to wait for the couch to return to the warehouse, then wait an additional 10 business days to have my $800 refunded. I am in desperate need of a couch so I decided to submit a new order for in-store pick-up of the couch. Now, I am being told my payment won't process even though the money has already been taken out of my account for this new order, so I'm unable to pick up the couch I've already paid for. Customer service told me I would have to wait another 3-5 days to see if the payment will be accepted and be able to pick up the couch (which the website claims can be picked up within 2 hours with curb-side pickup). So now I am out $1600 dollars from this company while I wait for them to figure themselves out, and still have no couch to show for it. Absolutely ridiculous. Customer service has been completely unhelpful. Never again will I order from this company, and who knows if I will ever get that $1,600 back. read more

I recently went in here hoping to find some German chocolate or Knorr items and wasn't disappointed. There is furniture, scarves, purses, candles, wine and imported goodies. In the food section I found some Milka bars 55% off Knorr Currywurst packets. I saw Italian and African coffees as well. They had a decent wine section too. I went in there mostly for any imported German food and was not disappointed. It's a cool store in a plaza right next to ikea, check it out sometime. read more

I was greeted when I came in, found all the amazing stuff I wanted, then I freaked out after I got to checkout and realize I forgot my 20% off coupon at home. Standing at checkout only minutes before they closed, I proceeded to checkout, as the cashier asked how I was doing I mentioned that I forgot my coupon, he reached in the drawer and scanned a coupon and told me not to worry about it! I went in to find wall art or any accent pieces that I could use. They had plenty of options. But of course when I'm in there my attention is drawn to so much more. Already a fan of this store but just had my best shopping experience yet! I currently live in Wilmington, NC, which has my local world market, but figured I would stop by this store while I was in the Charlotte area. As soon as I walked in the door I immediately noticed the organization & cleanliness of the store. It had the similar layout to all other world markets, but the extra organization and neatness made it even easier to shop around & browse. I didn't have many question, but when I did a sales associate was super easy to find and very knowledgeable on all questions I asked. I noticed the store manager even walking around greeting & helping people..which you don't find much of at many retail stores! Amy (the manager) is a class act and runs this operation with exceptional skill. The staff (Sharon, Thomas, Rick, Josh, Jacob, Tyler and Joey) are friendly, knowledgeable and possess a genuine interest in customer satisfaction. Terrible customer service. I purchased a coffee table and got a rain check for the matching end table. At the time (December) I was told the end table would arrive in approximately two weeks, which is the standard turnaround time. Over a month later I called and they said it was on backordered until April/May. I wasn't happy but it was fine. I called again (4 months after the rain check date) and they tell me it is now backordered until November. They already cancelled the the rain check order and never told me. I spoke with the store manager Thomas who was completely unapologetic. He said I can't return the coffee table because it's after their 30 day policy. So I'm just screwed. I asked if they would do anything (10% off next order, $5 off, anything??) and he said no. Their incompetence is now my problem to deal with and the manager literally doesn't care.
